I'm quite surprised by how well Liverpool defended (pressed, actually) vs Villa. And this was with Mac A at DM and two second-string CBs, with Quansah having to play 20 minutes in Trent's place too

I don't know how much to learn from that either, as it's a lineup that'll very rarely ever happen again. Maybe our pressing is back. If it works that well vs West Ham, Spurs and Brighton, I guess the leaky era could be assumed to be over

Could be Ryan at DM soon though, so we're still in flux

With Salah staying, Szoboszlai is nailed at RM.

I think we will see the same midfield for now tith Endo and Mac. Klopp will probably bed in Ryan in the cup games and then rotate with Endo later on.

if TAA fit I was interesting to see his different position against Villa moving into Centre Back & spraying passing long
with accurate feeds/looked more solid than the inverted full back into midfield for Liverpool.

They will miss VVD but his not been 100% the same since the pickford injury to him

How is Watkins in the scout picks bus team? I'm looking to move him on now or should i be keeping? Jesus seems like a fun replacement?

Done Jackson Jota Saliba to Alvarez Son Udogie -4 as had exact money they both went up so couldn’t have done it if I waited.

    Areola
    Udogie Dias Chilwell
    Odegaard Bruno Son Rashford Saka
    Alvarez Haaland

    Sub: Turner Gusto Kabore Mubama

    Any thoughts?

Udogie is ill and a doubt. Depends on the ilness I guess.

Jackson to Alvarez either a bite you in the arse or the correct move. You won't be having Jackson long term anyway so the hit should be paid back no problem.

I would get in Archer next week then you can stick with Alvarez 🙂

Having said that you are ranked joint 1st for clean sheets kept this season 😆

        Haaland Alvarez Archer

The team could do with some surgery.

I would suggest that you roll your FT and use a mini wildcard i.e. make 3 transfers for a 4 point hit

3 moves, not much surgery needed.

In your opinion, which combination scores the most points long - term?

    B) Bruno and Son
    C) Rashford and Son

I can't see Son as a long term pick with Richa and Johnson both options to play no 9.

I won't be doubling up on Spurs attack, bit like doubling up on LFC attack and points being shared. Johnson is the one I am keeping an eye on this GW. Cheap and bound to do well.

      1. Big Mike
        • 1 Year

Can't see Son losing the number 9 slot after his haul v Burnley. Richarlison has hardly set the game alight and Johnson is more of a winger. Injuries permittong, my gut tells me Son will play up front from now on.

Surely just guesswork at the moment given limited data and variable starts for each but I’m going to punt on Bruno and Son. No reason why Son can’t continue to score big and I just have a feeling that Rashford won’t repeat his last year’s form while Bruno continues to be instrumental to the team

I agree with that. Jury’s still out on him I reckon but I think he’s happy goals taken off him by teammates and I don’t like the imbalance of the team as much with him in. At current rate he’ll end up with 218 points- which could be matched by cheaper options but maybe he’ll start to fire.

Well. A doubler was on the menu against Villa, but a bit unlucky with Darwins missed big chances.

Salah is the only nailed forward for Liv and form and fixtures are likely to pay back soon. There is still some work needed for finding the best formation but they are back on track and the new signings have improved their whole game.

I don't have Salah & that's working fine for me to.
I like money the ITB to be able to react to any position with just 1 transfer.

I've seen my ML competitor with Salah needs 2FT to make moves. To get rid of pedro he had to downgrade a defender. With no money ITB he can't for example do rashford to Son unless downgrades a mid or his GK.
I'm just saying if he carries on as he is I can't see myself owning

Going to be difficult to make decisions on whether to play Estu in the next few weeks. He’s so good playing forward that he could get a goal any match. You’d want Morris against Fulham I’d think and maybe judge it from there

In many ways, my decision is actually:

              Estu & 5.5 fwd
              Or
              4.0 def & Alvarez

Week is going to fly, dont select Botman in your WC just yet just incase he drops. If Gabriel is injured, another defender likely to drop in price.

Don't have any players on your WC which may drop before the deadline otherwise your budget goes down the toilet.

Oh to get instead of Cash/Udogie?

If so I think I’d rather just have Lamptey, the former 2 offer supreme attacking threat in contrast

Well, Botman is a pretty good 4.5 defender to own if he is fit.

When people talk about an fpl player having a ‘high floor’, what are they talking about?

    1. SEXY SON
      • 7 Years
      7 months, 22 days ago

      A high minimum expected return.

Trent used to be like that when Liverpool were assured of a clean sheet, Haaland probably the only player these days with technically a high floor and ceiling

      1. Toon lurk
        • Fantasy Football Scout Member
        • 6 Years

Ceiling I understand, floor no. Surely every player has the same floor? Trent regularly got 2 pointers even when getting hauls every other week

        1. SEXY SON
          • 7 Years
          7 months, 22 days ago

There was a time Trent’s minimum was virtually 6, even if pool conceded he got an assist.

Could argue Ederson has a high floor low ceiling

        2. Fulchester's New Centr…
          • 6 Years

The floor can be less than zero in certain cases.
It is the expected floor so in the example above, if Liv. likely to get a CS then Trent's expected floor would be 6.

The current most obvious example of high floor/low ceiling would be Ederson and Man city defenders.

This is what I don’t get. How can his floor be more than 2 when he got 2 points the week before last? I may be being dense lol

Tbh I kind of agree with you - there's hardly any circumstances where I'd use that term or consider a player to have a floor over 2. The only one I can think of is what FNC is suggesting - e.g. if you have to choose betweem Nakamba & Kabore as 1st sub, Nakamba has a solid 2pt floor while the defender can get negative points

      1. Andy_Social
        • 11 Years
        7 months, 22 days ago

Floor/ceiling is not some kind of guarantee. But City are predicted to let in the fewest goals/keep the most clean sheets in the league. So their minimum average number of points is expected to be higher than other defenders.
In FPL psychology, we often overlook this because we prefer the (minimal) chance of attacking returns from a defender, thus preferring Udogie over Dias, ie going for risk over security.

    3. lugs
      • 6 Years

it makes sense when talking about the Sky game, Dunk & Rodri for example would have a floor of 5pts almost every game, in fpl though it doesn't make sense unless you're talking about ppg average
