That's where success has been found this season. Target the best players on a good team just as their favourable fixtures start.

Always has been the way for success when there is such a disparity between one or two of the promoted teams and the existing PL teams. Even more so this season.

Taking a hit to line up the mismatches makes sense, and doing the same thing a week or so after makes sense ... rather than sticking to a template formula or just following content creators advice for playing the game.

Upside chasing doesn't always work as we saw with Spurs getting a red card and City getting 6 goals with no Haaland or Alvarez involvement.

Absolute garbage yet again from England tonight. Please go now Gareth (you are a nice guy, you will still have some pride!). Lets not have a repeat of the 2000 decade when we lost our most talented team ever through incompetent and negative management. I know this site is full of Southgate apologists, but surely everyone must now realise this can't continue?

Didn't he simply give a few players a run out in a dead rubber against a minnow ? Sounds sensible to me.

Was it the players that played so badly in the game or some wired tactic or formation that Southgate set ?

No that’s what he should have done. I mean this game should have been audition night. Why the hell were Henderson, Kane, Pickford and Maguire starting? Rashford?

Have to keep a few old heads for continuity.

          - Trippier & TAA in the same team with TAA in midfield
          - Guéhi & Tomori together
          - Gallagher
          - Palmer off the bench on 60

Not too bad and trying to mix things up imho

I'd want Salah more than Son, Saka or Trippier so definitely one of the Salah options. Don't trust West Ham defence enough to go with Coufal so probably go with BSilva from your choices, though I think there are better options at lower prices eg Eze, Gordon, Palmer etc

You will be able to tell from my grav the level of bias I may have but the aim of punishments is definitely lobsided towards the rich.
Everton have run their club like a circus for the last four years, no doubt. We have continued to protest and the 19.5 mil shortfall in the accounts are wrong.
Losing our main sponsor due to war, covid, building a stadium with interest rates going through the roof, being forced to sell players publicly at cut prices (Richarleson) to balance the books by the people who inflict this punishment must not go amiss.
a 10 point nail is disproportionate to the offense and such penalties affect lesser wealth teams more than the big teams. Go for administration Everton; it is only a 9 point penalty LOL The real wind up is the guy who inflicted the pain admitted it is not related to sporting performance.
The Premier league know about the breaches done by Chelsea; the new owners told them. They brush this under the carpet. Chelsea still broke the laws.
100's of breaches by Citeh will take 100's of years to sort out.
Move out the "big 6: they don't want to be there. (A far greater crime IMO abandoning the league)
The premier league are fighting the laws of physics by governing the money instead of the game,
I conclude the authorities are running scared and trying to avoid an independent regulator,
All fans should unite in fighting for our rights; not trolling those who suffer!

Chelsea and City matters haven't gone away.
Good year for yous to have points deducted. One more win than each of the three hopeless promoted teams over the course of rest of the year and you stay up. Wouldn't be surprised if in May City and Chelsea were given say 30 point deductions which still allow both to finish midtable and miss Europe for a year. In City's case, they could probably take a 50 point hit and still be OK.

I am not saying it is fair, it clearly isn't.
Worst case scenario, the Championship would love to have City and Chelsea for a year. Haaland would probably score 100.
Would also mean only one team to go down.

Chelsea? The new owners reported the crimes and a blind eye must have been turned to some extent. Why would anyone buy Chelsea with such a contingent likability over the Chelsea bosses?

You are probably right which is why I suggested a big points deduction, but not big enough to make any actual difference by, for example, taking Chelsea from 5th place to 17th.

Points means money. A business in financial trouble gets help not creating bigger losses. Avoidance of the rules is as bad as breaking them. Hence, Tod giving 8 year contracts to spread player amortization, Basically, nobody can be trusted.

If the Everton charges are upheld on appeal, the PL have set a precedent now to really go after City and to a lesser extent Chelsea which will make it easier to enforce larger punishments due to the scale, timeframe, seriousness and numbers of the offenses.

TBH I feel sorry for Everton. There were mitigating factors that you mentioned such as COVID and interest rates increasing while there was a big on-going investment. I wouldn't like to see you relegated because of it.

Match fixing falls under fraud in UK law as does falsifying accounts. The bar is lower for the PL to get a charge upheld than a criminal charge would be. The onus would then be on City's lawyers to prove the punishment isn't legal.

You are right. Do something criminal Everton. Bottom line is I love my football and dislike those who want to create power from it. Having said all this, anyone who wishes to donate funds to a business should be free to do so. 1 500 people have jobs in Liverpool building a new stadium and the knock on affects for upliftment of the city and indeed for the FA are huge. Building infrastructure tends to be a good thing. Like Chelsea, freeze some of our Oligarch's funds and return it to the club. We had 200 million sponsorship wiped out on a decision made by others. Where did the 4.2 billion go from Chelsea? It has never been really discussed.

Yeah. with 100+ charges just do one each month and deduct 10 points each time. I am a chartered accountant and company law has worked quite well for a long time now. Why do the Premier league think they no better?

All the charges wouldn't be 10 point deductions though as they range from obstructing the investigation, to breaching FFP rules to falsifying accounts. I think the latter is the most serious.

I said this to 12th man last night

I know Everton like you are upset, but FFP was brought in to make sure that football clubs were not spending more than they earned and, in doing so, prevent them from falling into financial trouble which may endanger their long-term survival – and, in their words, "improve the overall financial health of European football".

Maybe 9 points is fair, as it is a kind of administration as these are the rules to stop it.

having had a club being close to 10 minutes from liquidation in 2010 after our 2nd admin, (Crystal Palace), the first one the admin had no points deduction and could still get loans in 1999. We loaned Ashley cole and Mikel Forsell from Arsenal and Chelsea, but luckily had Matt Jansen, etc, and got £10m in sales.

But the second one we had 43 points (less 33) and played Sheff Wednesday on 33 points at Hillsbourough but with a better goal difference.

SO Palace had to not lose. It ended 2-2 with about 10 minutes of injury time. I have never been so happy after a game of football or emotional (even more than besting Liverpool in the 1990 FA cup semi final in 1990), and then we thought it was all in vain, until Lloyds Bank let us pay them what the land as a stadium was worth £4m as a loan rather than the land value. 16m at the time. If we ever move then Lloyds get the land value.
Simon Jordon agreed 1p in the £ as if he did not, we would (like Luton had lost another 20 points).

We were still only 10 minutes from liquidation and over 10k probably 15k fans outside Lloyd's HQ in london as fans keft selhurst park to go there as this was the last sticking point as Steve parish and the 3 other fans were not going to proceed without the ground. That was nervewrecking

I feel for Southend even more as they look like the next Bury.as

It tough, and I feel for the fans. I really do.

No one felt for us at the time in all honesty, and an administration-type fine is, in my opinion, fair (should be 9 points) as this was one offence over the 4 years (because of Covid). £19m is still too high, even though i know there were exceptional circumstances.

It is the rich and incompentance of these men that hurt the fans, as a previous business owner you always look at best or worse cases on interest rates as all companies are run of debt , naming rights, etc

But the fans will always be there for the club through thick and thin, But those are the ones that will always be punished.

Everton will never get relegated. You always pull a rabbit out of the hat and there has never been a season were if you were to get a points deduction, this is the season to have it

As an off topic. Christ knows now what will happen to man City, but I expect by then the Qatar and Saudi will want a Super League by then anyway.

So chelsea, with pif investment, Newcastle and Man City maybe gone of forced to leave the Premiership or the clubs would need new owners by then? More Americans I guess

Dyche's creation of togetherness has been the biggest factor and he has instilled a belief. Pardon the pun but the jury is still out on staying in the division.

Haha, you're a silly sod like me who still has Nketiah.

I've got Nketiah on the bench for now, but will see how the next week or so goes.

    Just read the article
Everton missing from the table of fixtures

      Re-read the article
      Last sentence
" Everton are the only side we haven’t picked out a favourable run for, with their ticker-topping turn arriving in Gameweeks 32-37."
      That's a relief I thought we'd been already relegated !

Why the relieve? They should be relegated 2 or 1 season ago.

I can't remember what I done the last time the AFCON and the Asian cup were on.

As we don't know how the team's will progress, what's everyone's plans when it comes to the likes 9f Salah, Mbeumo and Son etc...

Sell and bring back in or keep on the bench?

It's looking like I'll only have Salah & Mbuemo (+ Kabore!) by that point.

Mbeumo will be sellable with the fixtures after AFCON. Just depends where the doubke falls. Salah also has tricky fixtures directly after AFCON so an arguement he is sellable too... but it's only 2 GWs and he's fixture poof...

      Stay flexible I guess 🙂

        Isn't it 3 GWs minimum, i.e. 21-23?
(From Neale's article: "a quarter-final exit or earlier for the Egyptian would mean that he is back in time for Liverpool’s plum-looking home clash with Burnley in Gameweek 24.")

Yeah you're tight, not sure why I thought less. I think I even replied before with exacts dates & GWs lol.

Either way doesn't change anything for me - would be selling.

Way too much money to bench for (potentially) 4-5 GWs; will be selling Salah, Son & Mbeumo. Tentative plan to stagger these: Mbeumo GW18, Salah GW20, Son GW21. While S & S are off, budget will not be a problem so I may have funds itb to bring them back, or maybe consider WC25 if it gets too complicated

Will mbeumo get to play the second game gw20, if he has to turn up 6 days before the tournament starts or is it 6 days before there first game?

Hmm its dubious. Suppose if it falls on Wed 3rd Jan there might be a slim chance he's available but at the moment I'm just planning to have Mbeumo for the GW14-17 run

Would it be useful to have a button on the members season ticker that when pressed shows you the hop on hop off view shown in the article above?

If you could choose ideal midfield for next few weeks what would it be. Think I would say the following (all penalty takers) but case to include Bowen ahead of Saka Son and perhaps Eze certainly for next 3 weeks

    Salah Saka Son Mbeumo Palmer

I am slightly concerned about Son/Spurs but giving him another 1-3 games before I judge. So if I were to WC right now I think I'd go for:
      Salah Son Bowen Mbeumo Eze

Palmer has impressed me & is on the watchlist but I'm still a bit confused what to make of Chelsea at the moment & not sure if Nkunku gets pens when he returns. Will reconsider Saka when clearly fit & Jesus/Øde return

Same but I think I'd swap Son to Saka and bring Son back in for 3 GWs when Saka fixtures turn

I would like Bowen but I want to give Son one more week as he or Saka are the cash cows that can go. Rest of midfield is Diaby, Salah and Adringa.

Have bloody Pedro up front with Haaland and Alvarez

I'd rather upgrade Pedro downgrade Son and Saka or downgrade Pedro to Bowen and forget Eze.

At the moment it is Diaby (early benching with Bailey) to Eze and Son and Pedro to Mbeumo and Darwin and swap Saka to Bowen .GW16. And Eze to Palmer.

I like Bowen this week but it would be typical FPL as Bowen scored away for Burnley to get their first home win of the season

    Silly question.

Do I have to play the first WC during GW18 to 19 or 19 to 20.

Also if yhe DGW is 20 will mbeumo still be around to play it.?

The first wildcard must be played before the Gameweek 20 deadline, with the second wildcard then available to be used between the Gameweek 20 deadline and the end of the season. The two international breaks in the first half of the season always offer a nice opportunity to use your first wildcard.

I think you can play WC1 in GW20 at the latest.

"The first wildcard will be available from the start of the season until Sat 30 Dec 12:00."

Question? Barnsley v Carlisle postponed today due to international call ups.

Why will this not apply to say Nottingham Forest for example when they will have several players away during AFCON & Asian Cup tournaments?

They still have a squad of 25, but feels like 50 sometimes. Maybe one or two will get dropped from their 25, 2nd half of the season

      Good time to play them

The PL and the EFL have different rules. EFL teams can very easily make up games in hand.

Was thinking about the fact we lose one of our teams for a month . Then I realised the transfer window should be open if I’m correct so guess we will get another striker at least .
