I've just brought Lascelles in on my wildcard and now he's injured. I have a good team for the next round. Should I wait with the transfer or get rid of him immediately?

Oh yes, I did. Nice chip to still have but how are you doing with FH and BB for the doubles?

Apparently Lascelles is a knee on knee impact injury so not a twist or pull so he could be back sooner.

Gusto was a strain and could have been cramps, he came off to take on fluids and apparently was walking freely enough.

Both could be back soon enough.

      Simply speculating really.

Is there a reason why everyone is convinced Isak will play 3 games in a week? The last time he managed it he was subbed off around 60 mins in all 3 games (played 100 mins yesterday), and he said Newcastle were in contact with him after playing 90 twice for Sweden last week to see if he was OK. He also said this just last week:

"Ihave had problems with my groin, it has been a bit recurring. The situation in the team has not helped with the availability of players either."

"Many times, I’ve come back from an injury and have had to play three games in a week, some 90 minutes, and that’s not optimal."

Haven't a clue tbh, I know Gordon filled in there a lot this season when needed but I just don't feel like I can ever be sure about Isak's minutes on weeks like this

          Possibly 65-75 mins is enough

Especially with the ongoing dodgy defending, it looks like Newcastle will need to score a few to win games.

With Barnes back and at home they are set up to attack.

Yeah I'm with you, I don't get it. Saw this in Zophar's article and scoffed (at both parts):
"As for Isak, he played 90 minutes for Sweden in both of their friendlies, the last of which was on Monday. This suggests that he’s over his fitness worries...
I’m pretty certain all Wildcard 35 teams will feature Isak, so it’s a transfer you’ll likely have to eventually make if you don’t get him now."

Yeah Isak's injuries are a real thing. I don't think he'll start every game of the run-in.

    6. Hairy Potter
      • 9 Years

There are limited options at the minute. Gordon can play there. Murphy and Anderson have filled in at the end of games when needed, but would never start up front. Maybe Anderson if Howe went to a front 2.

I think Howe would love to bring Isak after 70 minutes in most matches, but game state will dictate how it plays out until Wilson is back.

      1. Nate(U)dog(ie)
        • 3 Years
        3 months, 27 days ago

Do you think he'll just keep starting him? I know it's basically him or Gordon and it limits Gordon a bit but I would have thought he'd try not to risk pushing Isak too much given the only real remaining target must be EL at best

        1. Hairy Potter
          • 9 Years
          3 months, 27 days ago

Normally I'd expect Howe to automatically start Isak, if fit. Having said that, if it's a tough game midweek against Everton, maybe Howe starts Gordon upfront against Fulham.

It's hard to know how fit Barnes is. He only came on yesterday when Miggy (who was a sub) went off injured. It's also not clear if Anderson is fit enough to start.

We're in unfamiliar territory for Newcastle with no threat of relegation, and an outside chance of Europe. I think Newcastle will be unpredictable in terms of performances and maybe line ups until the end of the season. Howe may also tinker with 3-5-2 given some of the current injuries.

Both my main rival and I played our WCs this game week. Very similar teams. The differences are below. Who would you give the edge to for the next few weeks?

    Team A (my team)
    Onana
    RAN
    Foden
    Harvetz
    Isak

    Team B (his team)
    Pickford
    Lascelles
    Saka
    Garnacho
    Solanke

Over the next few games weeks i like team B as edging it slightly. Simply because his players have a double GW 34 in Pickford,Saka,Solanke, although it depends if Saka has re-injured himself after the Man City game.Where as your 5 players (i am assuming RAN might stand for Varane ) have double headers in GW 37 possibly .1 option i am mulling over for GW 34 as well as triple captain Salah, is to bring Brereton in at the 5 million mark as his stats when starting since he was brought in on loan in Jan. are not looking to bad for Sheff UTd's double header. Gw 35 is when i am using my WC up and bring Isak and Haaland into my team.Overall i am doing terribly in this league this season, just ranking at below the 2'5 million mark. My team on the Sky Sports Fanto league is a lot better just in the top 25k at present although that is from about 1/10th less players then this league has

I'm gonna have to make the decision tonight probably. But here's where I am.

    Kelleher Areola
    Porro Gabriel Zabarnyi Reguilon Branthwaite
    Odegaard Son Foden Saka Palmer
    Haaland Darwin Solanke

    A) Son > Salah
    B) Odegaard + Foden > Salah + Havertz -4

I'm actually rooting for Havertz to put in a big performance so I can go for him. I think I lean B because it's a bit more differential and I leverage my team value more but Foden can also put in a masterclass today and make it hard to sell. The games today will likely sway my decision.

Anyone have any other insights on which would be better? Am I silly for considering Havertz when I have Odegaard there already?

True but it feels like quite a big decision. I feel like one of these combos is gonna outscore the other by a lot and I'm struggling to figure out which way to go.

Keep Odegaard surely I'd say. I have Havertz (benched today) and he's a solid option but Odegaard is too, wouldn't expect a massive performance from Havertz today in this type of game but who knows

    4. Hairy Potter
      • 9 Years

B feels a bit FOMO to get, arguably the best midfield five, whereas A may be the best choice for your current team.

Without hindsight, I don't think there is a clear winner of the two options. As you say, maybe performances today my sway opinion.

Saka & Gabriel could be false flags

Jeez looking at that Brighton team there could be a BLOODBATH here, paved in saucy red all the way!

This is FPL- different rules, where Fulham can destroy Spurs and then struggle against Shef Utd. Cue a 2-1 win for Brighton with Endo and Quansah combining for the Liverpool goal

I’m a new Salah owner so hoping you’re right. A brace at least would be lovely

Are we likely to get any updates on Gusto/Lasc before deadline?

With the team below, should I WC this week? No Haaland or Darwin worries me plus injuries. FH and BB still available.

    Dubravka / Areola
    Porro / Gabriel / Pau / Konsa / Doughty
    Salah / Son / Maddison / Saka / Palmer
    Watkins / Toney / Morris

    1.9m itb and 1FT

My plan was to do Watkins to Darwin, but should I WC a better GK pairing, defenders and Haaland in?

I would yes. Don't see much value in holding onto it.

Darwin, if anything, is more of a doubt now he is playing in this game. I want Darwin too but, but, but
