I'd probably not start the season with Foden, which means there's pressure to pick Haaland to cover City attack, which means I can't afford much in the way of other premium mids. Vortex of indecision...

I’ve laid of the tinkering of late and probably won’t have a good tinker until the week before it all kicks off. I’ve switched from only Haaland to Haaland and Salah thus far and just can’t decide … i don’t want Salah but just can’t shake it. Panic Friday afternoon will ensue …

Hope so, I’ve been toying between 2 drafts for several days now, one Haaland and the other no Haaland.

This puts the nail in the coffin of the non Haaland one, and has made consider the panic of trying to buy him, which is much harder to the contrary position of needing to sell him!

Every content creator pretty much when the game opened said he's overpriced and won't have him ... I bet he's going to end up in most teams in the end!

In a vacuum it’s probably true but with Palmer Foden Saka likely getting eased in to begin, there’s no reason not to go for Haaland unless you’re building the team around Salah who’s almost as expensive

    Anyone going Saka over Salah?

    1. Lieutenant Frank Columbo

I’m son over Salah at the moment but the urge is to have Haaland and Salah. Need to see if cheaper mids genuinely look like good options as the deadline closes

Saka did outscore Salah and 2.5m cheaper.

Apparently Pool want more possession which favours Jota over Darwin.

I was on Son+Trent but I’ve shifted to Salah+Burn. No guarantees that Trent is back for GW1 from what I’ve seen so far.

Also Salah had 21 xG last season which is pretty crazy for an off season by his standards. Son had 10xG and heavily overperformed. xG doesn’t tell the whole story but Salah has been playing well under Slot and that early run of fixtures could make you want to blow up your team to get him if he starts off hot

        1. Lieutenant Frank Columbo
          • 13 Years

Son has always over performed his XG though … he’s consistently that sort of guy.

I wish Haaland held off on this performance for GW1. Everyone’s gonna be all over him now. It’s going to be about picking the best from the rest.

I’m liking this draft to start based on preseason and early fixtures:

    Pope (4.0)
    Gvardiol Porro Burn (Barco, Harwood-Bellis)
    Salah Jota Eze Nkunku Hudson-Odoi
    Haaland Isak (4.5)

    1. Fat Frank

Draft looks decent, would consider a Fulham attacker in there (Muniz, Andreas. ESR)

I’ve thought about dropping Nkunku for Rogers/4.5 and upgrading my 4.5 FWD to Muniz. It’s really tempting. Especially if I save the 0.5 with a 4.5 MID and maybe upgrade Harwood-Bellis to a 4.5.

            • 8 Years

Yes their fixtures are excellent and with ESR’s creativity, their fixtures and Muniz being given the no.9 shirt, it ‘feels right’, could be a big bargain at 6.0.

            Haaland Isak Muniz

Yep - agreed possible looking at GW4 wildcard as international break
gives time to reassess/reset if certain tempplates/fixtures/form taking shape
      GW3 (31Aug) and then the gap until (GW4 (14Sep).

After this looking to try to squirrel in FT

Know it's risky going without a premium priced mid, but I'm really liking this draft and strategy:

Henderson - C Miguel (or whoever the starting keepers are for Forest & Palace)
    Trent - Gvardiol - Mykolenko - Robinson - Barco
Odegaard - Gordon - Eze - Nkunku - Hudson Odoi
    Haaland - Isak - Muniz

Team rotates really well with only City & Arsenal having red fixtures for the first 5 weeks, has solid depth, and the only transfers I'd probably make would be in GW4 to do Isak to Watkins, and Odegaard/Gordon to a Liverpool midfielder who has better fixtures in GW4 and GW5.

Will WC in GW6 for the fixture swing and have 3FT in the bank going forward.

I may be alone here but I wont be following the Haaland clamour. I'd prefer a solid, balanced team with points all over the parj rather than lumping all my eggs in a £15m basket.

Hard to say - I have Watkins, Salah, Isak, Solanke, Palmer, Gordon & Bailey in my 11 - If I bring in Haaland, I'd have to downgrade a few of them to fit him in. I'd never go Salah and Haaland so if I go Salah and he scores 2 and Haaland scores 3, then i've only lost 1 goal and that could be made up by any one of the players I mentioned. But if he blanks then I have far more options to hit the jackpot. I'll probably live to regret this now, but that's my logic haha

I’ve tinkered a lot and I don’t feel there’s any decent way to spread the cash given Palmer, Saka, Foden aren’t nailed to start gw1. Son the only viable option but I’m not convinced by Spurs generally

        This
Haaland and Salah feel like a must now
        Saka as well if nailed
        Rest can wait

    Best trio here?

    A) Saka, Son & Watkins
    B) Gordon, Nkunku & Haaland

Haaland FOMO is strong, but all 3 in A are very good assets to have and should score better than B overall. B also makes it very difficult to get to Palmer.

Would you rather McNeil or Smith-Rowe as your 5th MID?

ESR is enticing but I'd go for Andreas assuming he's on penalties
