Can you promote my 3 recent community articles as well please?

I did when they were first published, as I try to do for all new Community Articles.
This is the fifth new Community Article in the last couple of weeks.
They are listed under the Community tab in the right hand column, as well as under Community Articles under the FPL Community and Articles tabs at the top of the FFS Home Page.
Readers who want to make sure that they don't miss any of these Community Articles are recommended to edit their FFS Profiles and tick ‘Community’ in the ‘Email Notifications’ section under ‘Alerts & Notifications’. They will then receive email notifications whenever future community articles are published.

I read, and enjoyed, all three of his recent Community Articles. If you're able to dress yourself without outside help they're easy to find. Like every other article in this gaff, though, they get hijacked in the comment section by shirt tuckers. His recent 'Can Members of Last Season's 200 Club Do It Again?' effort was well researched, well presented and thought provoking. The first comment was from a Mod thanking him for his effort, which was nice, the second was...

Best £5.5 mid? (currently on CHO)
          A) CHO
          B) ESR
          C) Andreas

There is zero point in encouraging members to contribute if their efforts are going to be immediately disparged by random peckheads who probably go to Reddit to ask what they should have for breakfast and then list three ingredients that they found in their cupboard, one of them being an out of date bottle of ketchup.

Ban them, every single one of them. Be merciless, take no prisoners.

There will be no site left to post community articles on if you take away 90% of the traffic onto the site. That traffic comes from the 'peckheads' who come here for a bit of advice on their team and those who like to help them.

"That traffic comes from the 'peckheads' who come here for a bit of advice on their team and those who like to help them"

Yep, nothing like asking for, and getting, advice from some peckhead who just five minutes beforehand was asking "best £5.5 mid?".

It's a circular firing squad, the FPL equivalent of 4Chan... but you do you, Biffa.

The vast majority of site traffic will be people who don't read the forum discussions, much less contribute to it. Forum comments are just the same 10/15 faces who have addiction issues; most of them don't even have FFS subscriptions so there is no income coming in that way.

90% of the site traffic is rmts in the chat? There will be no site left if these 10 people didn't ask the same questions over and over again? Deluded mindset.

You really think there's many people with a premium membership that don't comment on the articles? I'd be willing to bet that the majority of premium members are regular contributors on the forums.

In my comment, please show me where I said anything about how many people there are with membership who don't comment on articles.

I said most traffic will be from people who don't read or write the comments.
And I said most of the 10/15 people who spam rmts are not members.

Ok. Let's agree to disagree, if you really think the site would be a better place if everyone who posts RMTs should be banned, you're welcome to that opinion

Where, in any of my comments, did I say "the site would be a better place if RMT posters were banned". Please show me.

There's a reason why most of your 600+ comments on here this month are "A", "B" or "upgrade your 4.5 mid". I'm not sure you can actually read, and I certainly don't think you can make an argument that isn't a straw man fallacy.

What type of person were you referring to in your apple and fruit scenario? The serial RMT-ers. The 10-15 people who have "addiction issues". The people who "ask the same questions over and over again". Excuse me if I inferred from your tone how you feel about the RMT spammers.

Yes, we get a few of these comments that have nothing to do with the Community Article, but nothing like as many as there are on every Main Article.
And the relevant ones are far easier to find.

              Totally agree with these points.

There could be a RMT type discussion board and comments on the articles should be limited to discussing that topic.

Some of the articles are really well thought out then the first comment is nearly always ‘what do you think of this team’

We tried something like that at the beginning of one season a few years ago, setting up a specific hot topic or community article each day (I forget which) starting with someone's suggested opening squad with explanations about the selections in it (a bit like some of the Pro Pundit articles we have now), asking users to reply to these with their RMT-type questions, and getting some of the Scouts as well as other users to reply to them, but this didn't stop many users from continuing to post their RMTs as replies to other Main Topics instead.
There is clearly a big demand from many for posting RMTs and getting replies to them, but it's difficult to confine them to specific places.

Anyone tempted to have 5 x 4.5m defenders?

If Trent doesn’t start GW1, I have no faith in the 5m and above defenders long term except Arsenal, which you can cover with Raya.

Quansah isn't guaranteed to start beyond GW1 either once Konate and VVD are up to speed.

Seems like there could be a few early defender transfers.

    3. Ser Davos
      • 10 Years

I think you can start that way with Raya in goal and then change things with more info

Don't see as a sustainable strategy. Ultimately, we still have to choose a GK and three defenders each week so we will want some decent points/value from there even if it means a curtail on BP

I think it is a viable strategy to begin with. Nothing wrong with a back line of Andersen, Mykolenko, Konsa, Livra/Hall, Castagne/Robinson

Looking at this setup currently, but something feels off. Can anyone offer some insight?

My intent is flexibility. I want to hop onto Chelsea and Villa in GWs 2/3 if I can. Who will make way is yet to be decided, but I think the price points I have covered will allow a quick switch in a few moves.

    0.5 itb
    Flekken / Valdi
    Gvardiol / Porro / Andersen / Robinson / 4.0
    Salah / Saka / Son / Nkunku / Bobb
    Havertz / Isak / Muniz

There are upgrades I could make. Maybe it's the 0.5 burning a hole in my pocket, or the Bobb punt not sitting right. It could be I'm giving myself a pre benching headache thinking about which 2 out of Nkunku / Muniz and Bobb I select. IDK.

    1. Ser Davos
      • 10 Years

I err on the side of no Haaland then you absolutely power up your midfield so I'd pivot Havertz to Odegaard for instance and 3-5-2 it or possibly 4-4-2 it. Havertz' re-classification is likely to hurt him as much as people want to argue otherwise. He'd be a real outlier if he did

It's Porro. Subconsciously you know you should never trust the Spurs defence.

Honestly I really like Porro. I'm probably one of his biggest advocates. He's the defender with the biggest attacking threat in the game. Sure spurs can be pretty leaky, but I'm hoping his attacking threat overtakes that

I think it's nice and a fun strategy if you're up for getting rid of your bench boost chip early. Saving transfers and wildcarding gw3/4 seems sensible for getting some of the lads with uncertain gametime after the euros

Hello all, first team draft of the season:

    Flekken
    Gvardiol Porro Anderson
    Salah Son Nkunku Bobb
    Haaland Isak Armstrong

    (Vald Winks Barco Faes)

Not convinced with Nkunku and confess I am following the herd a bit with that pick. Also Bobb, but I think he looks a worthy punt to start off with. Thoughts?

like it broadly but couple of things for me:
      - Porro - Don't see the love for him. Defence concede alot, yeah he's attacking but not sure really enough to justify the hype
      - Son - Having Son as a 3rd premium is causing big trade offs for the squad i.e. 3rd attacker and bench. I like Son and he's a fantastic asset, but if you have someone like Bobb then you need to have a stronger bench and Son is holding you back from that
      - Armstrong - Don't dislike even though the group think is Muniz / Wood. I think Armstrong could be good value but bit of a gamble

      1. JELLYFISH
        • 13 Years

I like having Son in there as he's an enabler for the likes of Palmer if needed. Agree having Bobb in there does leave my bench very exposed, so if a compromise is needed there I would rather downgrade Porro than Son.
Re Armstrong I think he looks the best of the sub 6m forwards. Prefer Wood over Muniz if I were to upgrade.
        Thanks for the feedback.

          Fair.
You could downgrade Porro to Munoz freeing up 0.5 to take Winks to Rogers. Or even Porro to 4.5m (konsa / Robinson) and then gives you a million to get to a ESR / Hudson-Odoi / Elanga etc.

Rogers was in my squad but Villa have had a poor pre-season and he's far from nailed (Jacob Ramsey if fit will be challenging for starts).

    or
    B) 4.5 starting def and Eze

Anyone fancy Van Dijk? Good fixtures, some attacking threat, can be switched for arsenal defender somewhere around GW7

There's some sense that he's past it. He's no longer the player he was a few seasons ago.

Just had a look to see if my instincts and the popular consensus were wrong, and the stats back it up.

Tackles per 90, tackle winning %, clearances, aerial challenges per 90, all down significantly in the last 3-4 seasons.

He's still a great defender, but no longer the beast he once was.

I like CHO but the minutes and pens for gibbs white sway me his direction. maybe its just my midfield (salah, eze, gibbs white, nkunku, rogers), feels like cho early subs is too risky with nkunk and rogers

Prefer the 5.5m tbh coupled with 4.5 defender such as Mykolenko or Robinson. Plus 1.5 to upgrade elsewhere

            + 5.5M mid.

No point in getting Valdimarsson if you haven't got Flekken. I think he's one of the higher-owned 4.0s so may be susceptible to a price drop

I could easily see Flekken getting dropped soon , the price drop is a valid argument against though

He would be nailed for minutes on a much heavier attacking team. Right now Kulusevski is the starting striker in preseason.

Front 3 of Son, Solanke, Johnson would be lethal.

    B) Salah no Haaland
    C) Haaland and Salah

    A) Flekken, Areola
    Maatsen, Barco, Mykolenko, TAA, VDV
    CHO, Rogers, Palmer, Bobb, Gordon
    Watkins, Isak, Haaland

    B) Flekken, Pope
    Maatsen, Barco, Mykolenko, Shaw, Anderson
    Odegaard, Rogers, Palmer, Salah, Gordon
    Watkins, Isak, Wood

    C) Sels, Turner
    Robinson, Barco, Anderson, Mykolenko, Konsa

I don't like any of them, do a haaland & Salah draft without Palmer and it should look better.

You can easily bring Palmer in for Salah if he continues his form from last season
