Dilemma: I'm absolutely certain Haaland is hauling vs Spurs, yet downgrading him to Isak / Pedro allows a significant upgrade in midfield: Johnson > Palmer.

I have a feeling he is going to rip spurs apart. If i was chasing would cap him but wont so as to neutralize the Salah captaincy vs Soton. People started the Palmer train after the 25 pointer, but for the price he has been posting average returns and the biased bonus points

Many people are struggling to choose between those 3, really close call.
If forced, I would choose Smith Rowe. Great off the ball movement and gets in good spots quite often. On the other hand, it has to be said that Fulham have some tricky fixtures, but the one you buy will probably be a long term hold, so I wouldn't look into it that much.

Becker has kept four CSs and Kelleher two and Liverpool's fixtures are quite good for the foreseeable future. City they play at Anfield and City are a mess at the moment and Newcastle are hardly in the form of their lives. The next tough game after those is City again away (GW26) and Spurs in London (GW17). Couple of questions:
    1) Do we have any updates on Alisson and when he is expected back? Last I heard was "after the international break".
    2) Liverpool defensive double up with a Liverpool defender and a Liverpool GK make sense?

    1. Frank Bruno Guimaraes
      • 1 Year

Newcastle away is a tough fixture for Liverpool and even tougher for a Liverpool clean sheet. Newcastle nearly always score at home and they have a player like Isak who scores against anyone including the top sides .

      1. The Big Fella
        • 9 Years
        1 year, 1 month ago

Ok so Newcastle away they concede. The next tough match is Spurs is GW17 and the one after is GW26. That is still a pretty good run. I am trying to work out whether to sell Raya now or wait until we have more information about Alisson and his return as I am 0.1m off doing Lavia to Palmer and if I do sell him, for who.

      Fabianski over Turner for me.

Also not sure as no Arsenal at all - great fixtures coming up. Jackson and RAN on 4 yellows.

Also I personally wouldn't have Mbeumo on wild card due to their fixtures - probably rambling now so going to leave it at that.

Last comment I love the Watkins and Isak picks - very different but could be great

Oh god, yes - deffo Fabianski! Forgot about that for some reason…

Jackson and RAN 4 yellows - agreed, it’s risky and a tad annoying. I’ll have 2FT’s to deal with it though…

Absolutely keeping Mbeumo, not overthinking it until I see how Bruno looks under Amorim.

You have the same midfield and a poorer defence compared to my current Haaland team, which is surprising considering how much cash getting rid of him frees up.

      1. Athletic Nasherbo
        • 8 Years

I have very low team value. However, I’m not going to worry too much about what others can afford because I only have the amount of cash available. With this team, I think I maximise that use, with a combination of big hitters, explosive differentials, reliable cheap players, and some depth for the congested fixture period to come.

Does your attack contain 2x enablers with Haaland? This attack contains 3 of the most expensive behind Haaland which will eat up some of that cash.

For GW13 - I like Pedro, Wissa, Wood. Play all 3 promoted teams. I think there is merit for going with two of them over Watkins + Jackson and trying to move up to Saka.

    3. FDMS All Starz
      • 10 Years

I think Arsenal will try and do a lot of 1-0/2-0s considering they are recently struggling to score goals so you may lose out on their CS.

I would also find a route to get Saka in the near future.

Watkins is a good pick for the next 4, but during Christmas he will be rotated with Duran so I would move him on to one of the cheaper forwards soon and upgrade Damsgaard

      1. Athletic Nasherbo
        • 8 Years

Thanks for the input, Watkins is a worry even before that - watch him get benched for Sou (H). I do agree that backing against Arsenal could be a big mistake.

I'd be wary of Villa, especially three, they're looking tired and clueless. JPedro looks like a gift at 5.4m and just be aware Mbeumo's numbers are dipping dramatically, might need replacing. Fabianski is a must before he rises to 4.1m.

      1. Athletic Nasherbo
        • 8 Years

        Thanks, good thoughts.

I do like J.Pedro, he’s just come back from a bad injury and also Georginio is up and running. 5.4m on pens and those fixtures…can’t go wrong. Might wait until a few weeks later…yes, miss the Saints game.

Diane would rotate and Rogers excellent value. But yes, Villa a concern. I predicted they’d struggle to manage with Champions League, but surely Emery sorts them out?

Great 7 a side format. No worries each week regarding who starts with deadlines after teams are announced. No budgets to manage either. Pick anyone (two per club maximum). No such thing as hits which is good news for me!

    Raya (Fab)
Lewis, Ait Nouri, VdB (Greaves, Mosquera)
    Salah, Palmer, Mbeumo, Semenyo, Rogers
    Haaland, Wissa (Wood)

Should have 3FTs going into GW13. Thinking Haaland, Semenyo/Rogers, Mosquera -> JP, Saka, Gabriel/Milenkovic. It feels odd selling Semenyo/Rogers ahead of good fixtures for either, but it seems like the play is to chase Saka's ceiling. Anyone else facing a similar dilemma? Maybe instead it's wait until 14 for Saka and sell Mbeumo?

    1. Mother Farke

I personally feel like Saka is needed for West Ham (A), particularly as West Ham look poor and after what happened last season in the corresponding fixture. Mbeumo definitely gets Leicester (H) for me then he's off - gotta be cut-throat in this game.

      1. AlleRed
        • 8 Years

Thanks for your thoughts. Yep, feel like that's a fixture where Arsenal with Ode could well smash them again. Think West Ham has the worst defensive stats at home as well, which is quite something with such a negative approach but I guess that speaks to where they are atm, negative tactics but still so suscepticle to conceding a lot

Not getting the Saka obsession. He normally gets a return not a haul. Ignore CC’s “perfect 5” nonsense and focus on your defence

      1. AlleRed
        • 8 Years

That's generally been my approach to Saka, tend to hold once I have him since he ticks over and there are other priorities to ship out. But I also don't rush to ever bring him in since the stats are meh and even the eye test at times, though he's clinical. I did get burnt not having him for Southampton though. No idea what CC's are saying, just a question of whether to get off Rogers/Semenyo/Mbeumo when I'll have like 10m itb

That's fair, and definitely an option. I think I'll sell for Liverpool and Forest though, at this juncture. I feel like one of the few advantages left for some people is realizing that fixtures like Forest and Fulham are bad for attackers and selling premiums when they have them

Yeh Aina is definitely on the chopping block but may keep until they play Ipswich.

I can do Garnacho, Haaland > Palmer. Isak 2FT’s. Would you still wildcard this team?

    Sanchez
    Gabriel Robinson Collins
    Salah Palmer Mbeumo Gordon
    Isak Raul DCL

    Sa Dibling Munoz Porro

I think I would wildcard. The bench doesn't look good and there's still a Brentford defender and DCL stinking out the first team.

It's a good week to reset the team as there are fixture swings for a few teams.

Plus you'll carry the 2FT over after the wildcard

Use WC and just remove DCL.

I had great reservations when Howard Webb was appointed head of PGMOL. I always remembered him as being pro-United and anti-Liverpool when he was a ref. I even tried to take a step back at the time to think, am I just biased?

Btw here's an interesting stat about Coote and Pool..

      https://x.com/aadhicupchaai/status/1856704231119503637

"Liverpool has lost 2 games out of 8 with David Coote as referee and 2 out of 14 with Coote as VAR."

What is the problem with this team?

    Fabianski, Muric
Pedro Porro, Ait Nouri, Digne, Collins, Keane
Palmer, Bruno Fernandes, Mbeumo, Luis Diaz, Rogers
    Haaland, Solanke, Vardy.

No Salah, I know. But otherwise?

    Thank you!
