PlayON Player Picks – Gameweek 33 – Free Entry, £250 Pot

Once again, we roll out our player picks for PlayON, the weekly Fantasy Football game, this Friday lunchtime. Scouring the PlayON Price List for potential bargains ahead of tomorrow’s 10.45 deadline, we’re backing a couple of Man United’s players to deliver the points as David Moyes’ side search for a tenth away win of the season at injury-hit Newcastle:

This week PlayON are running a FREE ENTRY, £250 POT game – pick your team and enter for free here . They are also running a competition on Facebook and Twitter – Who’s Most Expensive on PlayON this week – Rooney, Suarez or Lukaku? One correct answer wins £25 FREE – enter on Facebook here or on Twitter here.

If you’re new to PlayON, it is weekly Fantasy Football so you can dip in and out of playing throughout the season. Once your starting XI is built you can compete for cash. You can challenge other players to one-on-one games, selecting the amount at stake. The likes of Robbie Fowler, Les Ferdinand and OptaJoe are all playing the game and are there to be challenged for free or for £1. The Fantasy Football Scout team is also available to be challenged and has a 52% win rate up to this point. You can also create an open challenge against anyone else on the site – just click the amount you want to play for and the number of slots (number of people who can accept your challenge) on the one-on-one page .

For a more in-depth introduction to PlayON, take a look at this season’s introduction article.

Goalkeeper – John Ruddy
The Canaries stopper looks outstanding value at just 6.9m for a home clash with West Brom. Chris Hughton’s side have conceded a single goal in their last six at Carrow Road and will fancy their chances of yet another shut-out against a Baggies side that have failed to find the net in two of their last four fixtures. Cardiff’s David Marshall also sets you back 6.9m this weekend. The Bluebirds entertain Crystal Palace tomorrow, with Tony Pulis’ side scoring just once in their previous six road trips. Hull’s Steve Harper looks set to benefit from Allan McGregor’s potential season-ending ending and is available for 6.7m ahead of the visit of Swansea.

Defender – Patrice Evra
The United left-back comes in at just 7.2m for tomorrow’s trip to St James’ Park. Suspended for the first leg of the Champions League Quarter-Final against Bayern on Tuesday evening, Evra is set to return to the first XI as David Moyes’ side prepare to face a Magpies outfit with a single goal in their last seven matches without the injured Loic Remy. If you fancy Man City to nullify Southampton’s threat and register a sixth clean sheet in seven matches, then it’s worth noting that Vincent Kompany can be snapped up for a paltry 8.2m this time around. Turning our attentions to fortress Carrow Road once again, the Canaries left-back Martin Olsson is also a real budget option and costs just 7.7m for the Baggies’ visit.

Midfielder – Juan Mata
We’re also backing United’s record signing to deliver this weekend. Ineligible for the midweek clash with Bayern, Mata is well rested and with Robin Van Persie still injured, he’s finally starting to deliver from his preferred role in “the hole” behind Wayne Rooney. Priced at 9.8m, he arrives at St James’ Park in buoyant mood after opening his United account last weekend and will be hoping to take advantage of a Magpies backline that has shipped seven goals in the last two league matches. Further down the price brackets, Lewis Holtby comes in at 8.8m for Fulham’s trip to Villa Park. The midfielder’s all-round game is favoured by the PlayON scoring matrix and, despite failing to deliver a goal or assist against Everton last Sunday, the German international still earned 1,000 points. Marc Albrighton is one to watch for Villa’s home game with Fulham. Setting you just back 8.1m, his delivery from the right could prove vital for the midlands outfit as they look to register a third home win in four against the basement-dwellers.

Forward – Emmanuel Adebayor
Having missed the last couple of league games with a heel injury, the Tottenham frontman has returned to full training ahead of Monday’s visit of Sunderland. Available for just 10.3m, Adebayor is expected to lead the line against the Black Cats once again as he look to return to the form which has harvested 11 goals and four assists in 18 appearances under Tim Sherwood this season. With three goals in his last three league matches, Edin Dzeko is proving crucial to Man City’s title tilt. Priced at 11.8m, the Bosnian looks set to retain his starting role once again as Southampton roll up to the Etihad in tomorrow lunchtime’s early kick-off. Grant Holt could be a real punt at 8.6m for Aston Villa’s home game with Fulham. With Christian Benteke ruled out for the season with an Achilles injury and Gabby Agbonlahor doubtful due to illness, the former Norwich forward is likely to be handed a rare start for the midlands outfit against Felix Magath’s strugglers.

bit harsh, TopArse was just saying the other day that FPL should be this and that, and basically described PlayOn.

It's a nice alternative format IMO, and more people should take a look!

What a ridiculously immature post, haha. I was hooked the first time I played it, and have played it every week since. A great alternative to FPL, and completely different too.

Developing a good strategy can certainly earn you a nice little bit of pocket money.

Looks great for this GW IMO. Could prepare for the blanks with Mata -> Nasri, means you have money for Rooney -> Aguero next GW. Or downgrade Mirallas to Barkley (if fit) or someone else cheap.

Aside from the opening 10 minutes on Saturday we actually looked ok at the back. Ole has found a formation he likes for us to get forward and if we keep Burner off the pitch i think we may be a bit tighter from now on.

With regards FFP, are there loopholes that are likely to be used.
For example back in the 90's the European Tour (golf) banned appearance money but players like Greg Norman would enter tournaments and be paid £250,000 by the organisers to do a 45 minute coaching clinic on the Tuesday.
Any chance you'll see guys being paid £1m every quarter to do a scholl visit?

it's the route i'd imagine they would look at if it is open though. Was done in rugby with the 'additional roles' a few players had a couple of years back as well

There's been fines of millions and draft picks taken away a couple of time in the AFL for breaches of salary cap from those types of payments, so there's precedent albeit in another sport.

Hopefully FIFA won't be all mouth and no trousers, but you can also see a few clubs just thumbing their noses at them and finding alternative ways to pay. Shares in floated clubs could be one..

The following all have green bibs on:

    Mignolet
    Johnson - Skrtel - Agger - Flanagan
    Allen - Gerrard
    Suarez - Sturridge

with Coutinho wearing both green and orange
Sterling and Lucas both with orange.

Thanks Billy. Couldn't think of who was missing!

No Henderson in the pics either, but personally I think he'll start.

I don't own, but it is an interesting predicament for Rogers. He talked up Lucas' attitude the other day, and said that he'd successfully adapted during his absence by moving to a singe CDM (Gerrard) instead of the pair.

I wonder if he's prepping Lucas to cover Gerrard when he makes the switch?

i love Bib theory, but not for it's accuracy (or lack of it).

      It's just a cool-ass gossip topic.

he's gotta be in the 'highly likely' bracket now though.

Poyet had no problem relying on him earlier in the season and he did very well, and with those two performances off the bench the fans will be calling for Poyet's head if he fails to start their match winner.

Who do I drop from this front eight?
    A Lallana v City away
    B Mutch v Palace home
C Striker – Sturridge or Dzeko

    Yaya – Mutch – Hazard – Silva – Lallana
    Sturridge – Dzeko - Suarez

This week is so frustrating, seems like I have the same problem as lot sof other people on here. Namely:
Gerrard hasn't got that yellow yet, so can't get rid but reducing his on pitch threat & time to avoid it.
AJ - not secure starter and would get rid if DGW didn't get in the way of thinking.
Aguero - not back yet so preventing getting the city assets we'll want for GW34

So looking at simply using 1 of the 2 FT's to release 0.6m by downgrading Adrian to a 3.9m GK (or 0.4m to Harper to rotate with Mannone)

Sme situation here - downgrading Adrian to Harper is a good option. Or maybe cheap defender to even cheaper Chester

    Hi everyone !

2 FT this week. Current team :

    ----- Mannone / Marshall------------

    Shaw / Kosc / Ward / Coleman / Demel

    Silva / Yaya / Mirra / Jonhson / Punch

    Suarez / Stud / Lukaku

    What should i do ?

I plan to make : Kosc and Shaw to De michelis and Vlaar (or other 4,3 or under def) ?

    Is it good ? Cheers

Jelavic to Dzeko (exact amount in bank) or Nolan to Schurrle (leaves 0.1 in bank)?

I'd like to wait til tomorrow if possible to get latest news on Aguero but Dzeko might rise tonight... although I can't check TotalFPL for the price rise as it's blocked at work for me...
