Yes folks, it’s the day (night) we’ve all been waiting for. It’s here. Finally.

Fantasy Premier League (FPL) has opened its doors for season 2011/12.

After a few false starts last week, with the new look needing one or two final tweaks, everything is now in order and we can begin to pick our squads ahead of the big kick-off on the 13th of next month.

So waste no more time and head on over to the Premier League official site to begin picking your fifteen.

We’ll have a further round-up of some of the prices in a little while but in the meantime, put off your bedtime for just a while. FPL is back.

Oh, and in case you are all wondering: Aleksander Kolarov is priced at 6.5. Don’t all rush at once, now.

    Kit design? Think I'll go with the Tiger Woods last day scarlet effort just to let people know I'm about. 😉

    The new FPL site? Not really warmed up to the graphics as yet. 🙁

    Seems to be no direct link to FFS which is a little odd.

    Just done an auto-complete to get a budgetfest of Beckford and the like. Still end up with Oddwingy. Must be fate.

          Was thinking Given/Begovic myself when it went live too. Now probably just spending 9.0 on GK's.

          Hangeland has never really scored alot of goals in his career. Took him 60 games before he got the first one for the NT.

          He scored alot last season, but not totally convinced he is a goalscoring CB yet..

    at the moment i have clark & bent from villa but if given & nzogbia sign id have 4 villa players.....considering their favourable fixtures wud i benefit? ful BLA WOL 1st 3 fixtures

      He was a midfielder last season, but played in defence the entire season as he is a defender. He is now quite cheap and a route into a decent defence. And guaranteed starts.

    Hmmm.

    Not a fan of the new Bonus Point system. Should be a stern 3 2 1 IMO, to much variation could happen, unless the event of a tie is a rarity. Also have to wait until next morning. Annoying again, I loved that hour gap inbetween the last game and BP's being allocated. I know its now longer, but it makes it worse.

    Also, the assist rule. So if a player is inside the box and the cross deflects off him, loops over a defender and into the path of another attacker who slots it home, the crosser still gets the assist, but if the defender is outside the area, then he doesn't. Can't wait for one on the line next season, that'll be funny.

    Good to be back. Now to sleep, somehow.

    IMO

    Having played with it for an hour.....gotta say its gone soft!!

    I didn't mind the wait - as plenty of other fantasy footy to do - but what have they spent the time doing? The site looks little awkward and clunky, and doesn't really impress.

    Rules Changes - positive re vice captain
    Negatives re Bonus Points as per EA sports morning after - that is certainly not an improvement!!
    Negative/Positive - assists awarded re Free kick...a silly foul 35m out, results in superb direct free kick goal - assist for foul.

    WTF has happened to the IKTS game??????

      The more points scoring opportunities the better imo so i'm all for the freekick assists. Gutted they haven't dumped the own goal minus points though.

      I don't mind that bonuses are in the morning, it'll be something nice to wake up to on both Sunday and Monday mornings. It will be strange having them decided purely by stats, as that will surely mean that people can't complain about where they awarded. Yeah...of course people will still complain

      - Hey everybody vice captain - then a lot of talk about that making examples,
      - then hey new BP
      - then hey new assist rule

      It would be great communication and it would keep us busy. Not good marketing IMO.

      I don't quite understand the point you are trying to make about free kick assists. I'd understand it better if you ruled out all assists that were 35m out.

        In general, I think it's a bit much to give an assist for winning a free-kick.

        Assists for penalties I get, you're winning the side a clear scoring chance. If a free-kick is scored, it's down to the individual brilliance of the taker.

        Not the same though is it. A 'normal' assist from 35m+ would usually require a decent pass or through ball. The new rule means a simple foul 35m+ from goal can now mean an assist when the player fouled hasn't really done much.

        That said i'm all for the new assist rules!

    Suarez the mos picked player atm, although Given will probably take over when his move to Villa is updated.

    Enrique and Oshea/Bardsley look nice at 5 Mil. Even Cahill at 5.5 is decent.

    Many favorites from last season are bit out of my price range at this stage; but i don't mind that because it allows for a few experiments, which is a great part of fpl. Angel Rangel on the radar.

      So do you reckon they will still update your scores/league position after every set of games (eg Saturday after the late game) even though bonus points won't have been allocated or will they just make do with 1 update after every round of games (likely Monday/Tuesday mornings)??

    Overall pretty happy with the site, it'll just take a bit of getting used to and you can see it's not quite the finished article just yet with all the white & grey colours, including team crests. Prices are tough but that's a good thing.

    Happy about the Vice Captain.
    A little disappointed they've retained the 2nd wildcard though.

      I'll miss the subjectivity of the bonus points.

      I think the "ex-professional" who makes them should just explain why, rather than them going back to a crappy index and making Mark try and justify it.
