Watchlist

The Watchlist- Gabby Agbonlahor

With three strong fixtures on the horizon for Aston Villa, Gabby Agbonlahor makes a leap up the updated Watchlist rankings.

This season has seen the Villa player reinvigorated under new boss Alex McLeish and at present, he’s the third-top scoring forward in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game- only Wayne Rooney and Sergio Aguero have returned more points after eight Gameweeks.

Already, he’s netted 4 times and contributed 3 assists- significantly, this has surpassed last season’s totals of 3 and 1 respectively and Agbonlahor is also proving himself to be something of a bonus magnet. To date, he’s picked up 9 points- last season he failed to register a single bonus point in comparison. Clearly, his game is more suited to the new scoring system, with only Aguero –with 10- returning more thus far. His side’s increased solidity under Alex McLeish and a role through the centre are also contributing factors in this upturn in Fantasy fortunes.

A run of fixtures that reads (WBA, sun, NOR) is promising, then. The Baggies have conceded 2 or more goals in all but one of their away games so far and with Agbonlahor scoring in three of his four home matches, you’d expect him to be amongst the points.

A trip to Sunderland should hold no fear, either- the Black Cats have shipped at least 2 goals in four of their last five fixtures and despite scoring just once on his travels, Agbonlahor has only failed to either score, assist or return bonus in just one match so far- Villa’s 4-1 defeat at Man City last weekend. Norwich’s failure to record a clean sheet this season only furthers his short-term potential.

Agbonlahor has risen 0.7 already but a lowly starting price of just 6.5 means he’s available for 7.2 right now and is a real mid-price bargain on the top of his form. Owned by 17% of Fantasy managers, he’s firmly put Darren Bent in the shade this season with consistent Fantasy returns and looks likely to continue in the same vein before Villa’s fixture list toughens up considerably from Gameweek twelve onwards.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Abel, is it really difficult to note Given @ home, Vorm away? C'mon, put a bit of effort in yourself. Also, if you want (c) advice, why not check the poll on the front page.

You could have done both of these faster than writing out your caps locked team.

Not even close for GK, imo you should play Given.

I'd Captain Van Persie and VC Suarez, although it is a close call.

this could be the week for players who have relatively low ownership(under 10%)

apart from suarez, no highly owned players look set for big scores this week
sturridge, rvp, vdv,ba,klasinic, ramsey all look set for a good week(they're not really differentials but are not in everyone's team)

gonna be a good week for those who study the game well 😉

Possibly, but it only takes a 2-1 scoreline like last year at OT for the likes of Rooney, Nani, Silva and Aguero to pick up points. The first three all scored last year when City were more defensive than they are now.

Correct me if I am wrong, but don't League bookings count towards being suspended for Cup games, but not vice versa. Hence why Sunderland believe Larsson is available and why he is not on the current official FA Suspensions List: http://www.thefa.com/thefa/disciplinary/suspensionlists

For perspective, Lucas (5 bookings) is on the Suspended List...

    Hi all,
Got a free transfer this week and decided that it probably isn’t worth it to do either Aguero or Rooney to RvP. So trying to sort out my MF instead. Currently have Arteta which I don’t like. Ideally would like to upgrade him to VDV but can’t find the funds, so do I:
    A) play Arteta and keep 2 free trannies for next week
    B) do Arteta -> Ramsey (free up cash & Ramsey playing further forward)
    C) take a punt on Modric/Bale/ another option under £8m?

Tripped by timing. I wouldn't think a mgr would want to waste a sub on a fullback unless he is forced, so if Simpson starts, he'll probably get the 90. At this stage, I believe he starts, but not sure for how much longer.

Pards obviously likes the attacking threat of Raylor.

I really cannot decide between Walters and Petrov!!
    Petrov
Rotates well with my cheapie Moses
    Could be on penos
However, has been accused of underperforming by the bolton fans and one more bad game could see him in danger of losing his place
    Good game this week

    Walters
Apart from this week has almost as good fixtures as Petrov till Jan
    OOP
    Defo on Penos
However, got jones and jerome waiting on the bench
Does’nt rotate at all with moses in the short term

    which one to opt for?

With 1 free transfer what is the best thing to do with a midfield containing Young(10.1) Silva(9.8) Singlair(6.0) Ramsey(6.4) Moses(4.8) with 0.4 in the bank? Happy with the rest of my team.

Depends on other players. If you have Roonster, I'd look to switch Young to VDV, then use extra cash to upgrade Moses, although it's thin pickings down that end of the Mids market.

Either way, sit tight this week, double transfer next GW, and play your first four Mids.

should i bet all eggs on Arsenal by captain RVP or spread my risk to cap VDV ?

      Mata and RTaylor

RTaylor is better than Simpson and has set piece duties.
Chelsea have an easier run of games that ManUtd

Sunderland on twitter are claiming that larsson didn't get a yellow v stoke. He did I remember it being brandished as I had him back then. They claim he's not suspended. I think they are wrong.

so far the score is Jonty 1 - 0 Sunderland's official twitter page

how many scout picks do you think you will have in your team? im guessing six from mine. im doomed. some strong attackers this week. do scout go 4 4 2 ? if so pretty difficult. guessing van persie is a certainty so 1 from suarez, adebayor, bent even rooney? prob suarez.

Here's the twitter convo I'm having with them

    SAFCofficial Sunderland AFC
Larsson has three league yellows (Liverpool, West Brom and Arsenal) plus one in Carling Cup (Brighton).

    SAFCofficial Sunderland AFC
For all those asking, Seb Larsson is NOT suspended for tomorrow's game. He currently has four yellow cards. #safc

    Here's my responses

@SAFCofficial you missed out his yellow against Stoke. He has 5.

@SAFCofficial he does have 5 tho'. 4 yellow in the league and one in carling cup, which are counted.

    I'll keep you posted.

Just spoke to Sunderland. Confirmed that PA did not correct the booking - it was Craig Gardner booked against Stoke, not Larsson.
