Scout Scribbles- Swansea Lose Rangel for a Month

Angel Rangel is out for a month with an ankle problem. Lucas is set for scans on his injured knee, an injury to Roman Pavlyuchenko limits Spurs’ up front Europa League options and Robin Van Persie gets the night off as Arsenal slip out the Carling Cup.

Swansea have confirmed their right-back Angel Rangel is set to be sidelined for a month. The Spaniard was taken off before the half hour mark in Sunday’s draw with Aston Villa and it has now been confirmed he has suffered ankle ligament damage. Jazz Richards is expected to deputise in his absence but Rangel, who had previously played every minute of the season, is an integral part of how Brendan Rodgers’ side play and his loss will be a huge blow to the Welsh side. Richards is classified as a 4.4 midfielder in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), with left-back Neil Taylor, at 4.2, the best long-term bet for those eyeing up a replacement in the Welsh sides’ back-line.

Kenny Dalglish revealed Lucas is set for scans after being stretchered off at Stamford Bridge last night. The Brazilian let the field after seventy minutes of Liverpool’s 2-0 win, following a challenge by the home side’s Ryan Bertrand and his manager was unsure of the severity of the problem.

He’s damaged his knee. We don’t know what it is. We’ll get him looked at and take it from there. We don’t know what it is so rather than speculate we are best waiting until we get the proper diagnosis tomorrow or the next day and we’ll let everybody know in due course. He needs to get it scanned.

Josh McEachran will undergo scans today after picking up an ankle knock in the Stamford Bridge defeat. Having played just eight minutes of league action this term, he was handed a rare start by Andre Villas-Boas as the Blues boss trialled a midfield diamond, but McEachran’s night was cut short with the problem and he left the ground wearing a protective boot on his left foot.

Blackburn’s Steven Nzonzi has accepted the FA’s charge of violent conduct after an off-the-ball incident with Stoke’s Ryan Shawcross last Saturday. The midfielder will serve a three-match ban, which covers last night’s Carling Cup defeat at Cardiff and the league matches with Swansea and Sunderland. Nzonzi will be available for Rovers’ gameweek 16 clash with West Brom on the 17th December.

Arsene Wenger gave Robin Van Persie’s Fantasy managers a boost last night. The Dutchman, along with the likes of Theo Walcott and Aaron Ramsey, was left out of Arsenal’s Carling Cup squad for the game against Man City- it was noticeable that those three were the players Wenger cited as being fatigued earlier in the week. With the Gunners having already won their Champions League group, their game against Olympiacos next week is something of a formality and it’s conceivable any one, or all three, of the trio could be rested there, too. This bodes well for the weekend trip to Wigan, then, with Van Persie’s goals vital if the Gunners are to get back to winning ways.

Sergio Aguero’s owners would have been pleased to see the Argentine start last night’s game at the Emirates on the Man City bench, as Roberto Mancini chose Edin Dzeko to lead the line with Samir Nasri tucked in behind the Bosnian. Mancini made ten changes from the side that drew against Liverpool just over forty-eight hours beforehand but sent Aguero on just after the half-hour mark as a replacement for Aleksandar Kolarov- the Argentine came through the match unscathed, netting the winner with seven minutes remaining.

Harry Redknapp’s plans for tonight’s Europa League lineup in the match against PAOK were dealt a blow, with the news that Roman Pavlyuchenko is a major doubt for the game after a training ground accident. With Rafael Van der Vaart still a doubt for the weekend league clash against Bolton, Redknapp would ideally like to rest Jermain Defoe this evening but now likes likely to play the striker, with so little alternatives now available:

There is no-one else really because Pav did his knee. It doesn’t look very good. He just banged it on Andros Townsend’s head. He slipped and hit Andros and it looks very swollen. It doesn’t look great.

Stiliyan Petrov is set to return to training for Aston Villa ahead of the weekend game against Man United. The Bulgarian missed out on Sunday for the trip to Swansea but Alex McLeish is hopeful his skipper will be fit and available for the crucial clash against the champions.

I swapped him for Bale last week and I'm glad I did.

Could bite me I suppose, but I don't think it will, at least not yet.

I suspect he will not play this week....he wants to, but always does. If Defoe gets injured midweek then redknapp may give in and play him. Bale is a superb alternative.

Even if unfit, I think I'll still keep. If I get rid I know I'll want him back soon enough, given the fixtures.

True I'm tempted to keep. I've been holding back my newcastle defenders on the bench during their poor run...as fixtures improve I'm more than happy for them to come on and replace VDV should he be injured.

Its times like this when I'm very smug I never went down the Ferguson route...despite the protests from Fergie lovers on this site. A bandwagon, with no wheels or even a place on the bench was never something that appealed to me.

If no positive news come before his price due to drop, I might sell him and realized 0.2 profit as I already have Bale & Ade. Choices are Nani/Young or Adam.

I'd swap for Bale, but none of those others really appeal atm. I'd keep if I were you seeing as you have bale...Only really silva is another good swap, and I assume you already have him.

Repost on the new post. Has anyone noticed Rangel was a scout pick for the last gameweek? This is the most extreme of the scout pick curses I've ever seen. I'd fear for any players I have in my team that they pick from now on.

Anyways. How would y'all rate my team?

    De Gea (Ruddy)
    K. Walker, Jones, Enrique (Gabbidon, Orr)
    Silva, Walters, Bale, Pilkington (Reo-Coker)
    Hernandez, Adebayor, RVP.

Main want is to take Pilks out as I can't see Norwich doing well against Citeh. Cheers.

Nice team, but a truly dire bench.

You need to sort that our before worrying about Pilko IMO. Reo-Coker should be an urgent priority.

Any team that is forced to play 2 each week from Walters / Pilkington / Reo-Coker / Gabbidon / Orr is seriously not a "nice team". I'd downgrade either De Gea or Jones to sort one of them out, then swap one for a Swansea defender, suddenly the team is looking a lot better.

Suarez is one of those players who looks really dangerous and scary when he's not in your team, then you get him in and you find out he's actually really frustrating and inconsistent.

Would prefer Ade/Sturridge/Ba/Chico and probably Aguero despite the price.

I thought he was always referred to as Andros, he's been on loan to a fair few championship clubs the past 2 seasons.

Almost sounds like he fell over and headbutted Pav's knee, which is a hilarious way to get injured.

The form book would suggest getting rid of Rooney, but avl aren't great defensively, and then they play Wolves at home. Doesn't seem sensible.

That said, I wouldn't want another budget Midfielder in my team, so I'd go with option B, assuming that Drenthe doesn't play this week.

"a" will be preferred by many but i think rooney will score more than adebayor form now until xmas. yes, adebayor's got bolton this week and he might even score in double figures but if u want more points on a long term basis, then stick with rooney.

Thoughts, comments, opinions on this team?

    Vorm (Krul)

Enrique, Kompany, S Taylor (Simpson, N Taylor)

Silva, Nani, Van der Vaart, Sessegnon (Dyer)

    Van Persie, Adabeyor, (Morison)

In seven gameweeks Nani has scored more than three points only once, part of me wants to change him, but for who? And the other part knows that the minute i do change him he'll get busy scoring points again. I think I'll hang on to VDV for now, if he misses a gameweek more I think I can cope, it is a concern. I got Sessegnon thinking he might have some luck with good fixtures, but nope, nada, nothing. Disappointing, he'll be transferred out soon. My biggest concern is my midfield I think. Suggestions?

    repost from previous post

ok gents and gentettes team is linked

I have 2 frees, but only want to use 1 as I plan on bringing in Ba and Barfa ready for Norwich next week. My original plan was to replace Sincs with with either Drenthe or O’Hara, but am wondering if I might be better to make a short-term replacement for Woodgate (plan was to replace him with Jags) so that I have someone on bench guaranteed to play in case VdV and/or Aguero is left out (though I don’t think Aguero will be). Plan is to wait until Thurs/Fri for news on VdV before actually doing it, but just after some thoughts.

I can't get Jags in, I have no money in bank (which is why Aguero is departing for Ba I need cash) so if I swap him it has to be for a defender of 4.3 or less.

not Baines, would rather have Jags, he's a bit cheaper and it means I can upgrade Brown, and have money spare to replace Ba for ACON (though I may just put Studge in.

Just checked anyway, .1 short for Baines, so Jags becomes the better option anyway, Ba is only going up, Baines is only going up, so not gonna happen.

Also plan to get rid of Westwood, so Jags gives me the funds (I have a plan so barmy it may be genius)

was thinking more McAuley, Gabbidon, Senderos or Kelly. Alternatively I could stick with my Sinclair - Drenthe/O'Hara plan, just worried it doesn't give me enough guaranteed playing cover (I need this after last GW when 4 players didn't play)

    Sturridge, Adebayor, Rooney

Swapped Moses for Sessegnon last week, what a terrible idea. I'd have done Suarez > Adebayor otherwise (which i've done this week). Any obvious fixing up that you can see needing done with my front 8? I know i'll want Suarez back soon but i also want Newcastle and Man Utd cover.

    Hi Guys
First time poster, though long time lurker.
There is some very good advice handed out on this forum, and I was wondering what is the general view on Lampard, both for the short and long term.
Brought him in only 2 weeks ago and already thinking this was an error. Him playing last night, has only added to my concern that he may not play again this weekend?
    All comments welcome.

they don;t provide that this year...best bet is look at the transfer history to see what gameweek you got him and cross ref with his history, which has price rises. It won't be accurate though as he goes up within a week and there's no way of knowing whether you got him before or after that.

I'm not even sure if I ditch VDV whether I'd lose any of my profit at this stage.

Maybe its something they can rectify when the improve the site next season.

I'm sorry to say this but the price you paid originally is almost totally irrelevant. The only prices that you should consider are a) the current value of the player in your team and b) what would that price be if you had to buy him again. Forget all about what you paid - it's the same with stocks and shares.

    Pros -
    He is 5.4
    Hes playing as an OOP
    Hes a skillful intelligent player

    Cons -
    He hardly hits a shot
    Hes got a temper

If I could squeeze him in this week I would but I have more pressing matters. He's my first choice transfer next week if no other issues crop up.

Anybody who thinks that HBA isn't nailed on when fit is overestimating Leon Best in my opinion. Best is a decent player, but before his injuries, HBA was one of the most exciting players in Europe. He is a no brainer for me. Especially with our upcoming fixtures. Starting this weekend against Chelsea. Get in there quick!

Oh yeah. And i've seen several comments on here about him not taking shots. His two starts have been against City and United. AWAY!!! What do you expect? And in those games he got one assist, hit the post, and set up 3 great changes (that I remember) for Ba.

Please help, lost on another page..

    Team

    Vorm Given

    Kompany Enrique Simpson Wilkinson Hibbert

    VDV Ramsey Walters Silva Dyer

    Bendy RVP Hernandez

    £2.1m in the bank.

Was thinking about saving my transfer this week and doing 2 next week

    Bendy > Ba

    Ramsey > ????

Who do you recommend int he £8.2m bracket, Or should I get someone in for the same price as Ramsey and upgrade elsewhere?

Try to get Ade in, I was in almost the exact same boat as you. I sold Bendy, Ramsey and a defender to bring him in with B Arfa and a cheaper defender.

News that Manchester United are scouting Schalke's Christian Fuchs has inspired a host of 'Fuchs off to Old Trafford?' headlines and a lot of sniggering. But he's not even in the top 20 of rude footballer names... and neither is Danny Shittu!

    20) An early England one-cap wonder, Segar Bastard naturally went on to become a referee.

    19) Winger Wayne Wanklyn played in the same Reading side as keeper Steve Death.

    18) Famously lobbed by Nayim, David Seaman ’s nickname at Arsenal was ‘H’ – short for Harry Monk. Another goalkeeper, Stanislav Seman , was in the Czech side which won Olympic gold in 1980.

    17) Filipino keeper Alphonse Areola has been linked with Manchester United and Tottenham after impressing at Paris St Germain.

    16) Former Grasshoppers striker Andre Muff was a former Switzerland team-mate of Bernt Haas .

    15) Briefly in the limelight with Independiente and Celta Vigo, Argentinean striker Mario Turdo is currently without a club.

    14) Roberto Martinez’s Wigan reign began to go wrong the moment his move for Chilean centre back Waldo Ponce broke down last year. Instead Ponce joined the best-named team in Chile – O’Higgins.

    13) Now assistant manager at Bury, former centre back Peter Shirtliff ’s name caused giggles at Sheffield Wednesday, Charlton, Wolves and Barnsley.

    12) One of Kevin Keegan’s worst signings, Dutch winger Brian Pinas made one substitute appearance in nearly two years before returning to Feyenoord.

    11) Still playing at 36, it’s a lasting regret that Czech defender Milan Fukal failed a week’s trial with Leeds in 2006.

    10) Part of the Dutch side thumped 4-1 by England at Wembley in Euro 96, Johan de Kock won an unlucky 13 caps for Holland.

    9) A £5m disaster from the John Barnes/Kenny Dalglish management team at Celtic, Rafael Scheidt started only three league games for the Bhoys and later joined Botafogo.

    8) Briefly linked with the Liverpool vacancy last year before Kenny Dalglish returned, former Brazil defender A rgelico Fucks is, unsurprisingly, known as Argel.

    7) Chelsea disappointed everyone in 2009 by dropping their interest in Independiente keeper Fabian Assman .

    6) The number one club in the Peruvian Andes, widely criticised in the mid-‘00s for moving their stadium to the city of Cerro de Pasco, 4,380 above sea level, are named after a local tribe… Deportivo Wanka

    5) Long linked with a Premier League move, time is running out for an English club to snap up the services of Marseille right back Rod Fanni .

    4) Germany’s Under-20 manager, a former East German international and one-club man with Dynamo Dresden, is named Ralf Minge .

    3) While at Benfica, Germany keeper Hans-Jorg Butt was briefly understudy to former Portugal No.1 Quim .

    2) Fulham boss Martin Jol’s brothers Richard and Cornelius are known as Dick and Cock . “What’s so funny about this?” the scary Dutchman once raged to a Tottenham press conference, as journos stifled their giggles. “Cock is a common name in the Netherlands.”

    1) The former Germany striker who enlivened the video for Baddiel and Skinner’s Three Lions remake in ’88, Stefan Kuntz has embraced his name’s brilliance since becoming general manager of Kaiserslautern, by signing both Danny Fuchs and Florian Dick

      12) was actually a Kenny Dalglish signing. I remember well all the 'Kenny Dalglish has a little black Pinas' jokes doing the rounds at the time!
