FFS Cup

Paddy Power Cup V – The Last 16

A few weeks back, over 2200 registered and now we are down to the last 16 of the Paddy Power Cup V. They’ve come through seven stages and are two victories away from playing for a prize. The draw for the next round has been and looks a lot like this…

1RaasclartVs.Mr Bungle
2mendersVs.CSKA AWFUL
3NattVs.Declan
4Der-Hammer95Vs.Sc8tt26
5soulman27Vs.runty
6ChickenDevilVs.Timmy Loving
7VereWinnerVs.sleepingmaster
8Bruce BaerVs.Funkyav

Top-seed, and 181st in the world, Der-Hammer95 has a tough assignment against 1,241st overall Sc8tt26. Of course at this stage of the competition there’s no easy games. In fact, there are only two teams with less than 1,000 points.

As luck would have it, those two Fantasy managers yet to hit four-digits have been matched together. 250k in the world VereWinner takes on 127k in the world sleepingmaster.

Last week’s top-scorer, Mr Bungle, once again finds himself as the away team in the first fixture of the round. There’s obviously no disadvantage to coming out of the hat second, and Mr Bungle actually has the effective lead going into his game with Raasclart. The 83 points between them means the ‘visitors’ will go through with a draw.

All ties will be played over the upcoming Gameweek 19, good luck to all!

Please note – with such a short turnaround from Gameweek 19 to Gameweek 20, we’ve made the decision to postpone the Quarter-Finals until Gameweek 21. This will ensure that the draw can be made and published well in advance of any deadline – it will also remove the double gameweek fixtures as a factor and bring the January wildcard into play for the last eight.

Call me crazy, but anyone considering an RVP to Rooney move? I can easily see a Rooney hat-trick this week. It would blow to lose the value, but he could be re-drafted back in for the wildcard.

Van Persie averages 8.4 PPG at home can only be beaten by Aguero who finds himself on the road this week. QPR have really conceded 15 in their last six road games. His GW18 line may have disappointed but with no less than eight shots, five of which were on target. Anything like that again here should ensure he returns better results for his owners and he remains a great captain pick this week.......... =P

howard because he's a good shot-stopper and fulham are at craven cottage - a mini fortress if you like and could knock quite a few past Norwich who haven't defended too greatly the past few weeks.

In the old days there used to be segregation between "coloured people" and white people. Coloured waiting rooms, barber shops, coloured sitting areas etc. That wasnt polite. That was segregation by saying all non coloured were above everybody else.

Team of the season based on individual match ratings from the Guardian readers:

    Vorm
    Jones Coloccini King Enrique
    Parker Modric
    Mata Rooney Silva
    RVP

Hard to strongly disagree with any of that really. Bale is a little unlucky to miss out, I'd be tempted to put him in ahead of Mata. Kompany instead of King, maybe? And I wouldn't personally have Jones in there, although there's no standout options at right back. If anything, I'd probably pick Smalling there ahead of him.

Kompany wasn't himself for the first 8 or so games of the season. Made a few mistakes that cost City goals. Walker made a great start to the season too but his form has regressed a bit. I'd put Bale in ahead of Mata too.

Yeah, yeah, yeah... But Walker is always hyped up as a good attacking full back, when in reality he isn't all that. Bit like Bosingwa really.

            He isn't fantastic defensively.

Agree with HeartsAttack below actually - Richards should be in there at right back.

He's under rated defensively imo. Think most people assume he is a typical full back. Plus it's hard enough to find a man in normal circumstances, and even harder when you've 1 player to aim at.

I'd put Glen Johnson in rb (controversial I know), but I think he's been great so far. Honourable mentions for Walker and Richards though.

Would play both Enrique and BAE. Simpson has two tough games so would put him to the back of the bench for them.

Tough captain choices this week. RVP is a rotation risk, it would be disaster if he just got a 20min cameo and got 1 point. I'd go with Nani. Spurs have Swansea away, and Swansea dont concede much at home

Jones and Shotton are starting for me. So I am can only play one of them.

I have read a lot about rotation risk for RVP on here and dont believe he will be rested. I may have to toss a coin between him and nani.

If you had Bale and Ade, would you sign Walker or Vdv?

Walker would be at expense of Brown.

Vdv would be in for Silva or Nani.

Walker - Tottenham have a nice run of games at the moment - playing easy teams; they are likely to keep clean sheets but vdv isn't on great form at the moment - Bale a possibility?
