FFS Cup

Paddy Power Cup V – The Last 16

A few weeks back, over 2200 registered and now we are down to the last 16 of the Paddy Power Cup V. They’ve come through seven stages and are two victories away from playing for a prize. The draw for the next round has been and looks a lot like this…

1RaasclartVs.Mr Bungle
2mendersVs.CSKA AWFUL
3NattVs.Declan
4Der-Hammer95Vs.Sc8tt26
5soulman27Vs.runty
6ChickenDevilVs.Timmy Loving
7VereWinnerVs.sleepingmaster
8Bruce BaerVs.Funkyav

Top-seed, and 181st in the world, Der-Hammer95 has a tough assignment against 1,241st overall Sc8tt26. Of course at this stage of the competition there’s no easy games. In fact, there are only two teams with less than 1,000 points.

As luck would have it, those two Fantasy managers yet to hit four-digits have been matched together. 250k in the world VereWinner takes on 127k in the world sleepingmaster.

Last week’s top-scorer, Mr Bungle, once again finds himself as the away team in the first fixture of the round. There’s obviously no disadvantage to coming out of the hat second, and Mr Bungle actually has the effective lead going into his game with Raasclart. The 83 points between them means the ‘visitors’ will go through with a draw.

All ties will be played over the upcoming Gameweek 19, good luck to all!

Please note – with such a short turnaround from Gameweek 19 to Gameweek 20, we’ve made the decision to postpone the Quarter-Finals until Gameweek 21. This will ensure that the draw can be made and published well in advance of any deadline – it will also remove the double gameweek fixtures as a factor and bring the January wildcard into play for the last eight.

I won't be able to change my team until GW22. And will need to make my transfers for GW 20 on the 31st. Thinking of going with:

    Krul
    Richards Smalling Baines
    VDV Drenthe Bale Nani
    Yakubu RVP Adebayor

    Vorm Enrique Moses De Laet

Going to have to keep all DGW'ers for the following GW which isn't ideal but Spurs play Bolton(H) ad Everton play Villa(A) so it could be worse. Means i won't be able to captain RVP vs Swansea though which could hurt!

try to avoid Yakubu - Blackburn aren't likely to score that often; is there anyone else for a similar price to Yakubu- maybe Holt or Morison, Klasnic, Helguson( he's likely to score whenever QPR score - he's there only scorer really)

Have Given and Reina. Obv. need someone in GW20 - either gonna be Howard or Friedal. Walker would replace Enrique. Would doubling up on Everton defence (already have Jag) be a worthwhile thing to do...?

I'm not getting any Everton players in, can't see any value in it tbh.

The spurs double is tasty so I will be loading up but I can;lt help but feel people are getting carried away with the Everton double, I wouldn't be going out of my way to fit in any of their players - I've heard people talk about tripling up!

        disagree.

Not only do everton have a tasty home fixture against a useless bolton, they then play aston villa and blackburn, two decent fixtures.

Throw the WC in to the mix offering security if things dont pan out, mathematically, maximising your doubles makes every bit of sense. You could have half your team playing twice.

I have a tricky decision to make if anyone would like to help me make my mind up..

I would like to do Ba to Adebayor for the double gameweek. It would mean taking N Taylor out for Caulker and Ba to Ade would make it an 8 point hit (1 transfer already played). I have 1.7m in the bank which means I have the exact amount available but no more so need to beat Ade's rise tonight.

Would I be crazy to take this 8 point hit or should I be considering Modric instead of Ade as a slight differential?

Vorm, BAE, Jones, Enrique, Silva, Mata, Bale, Nani, Yak, RVP, Ba SUBS: NTaylor Moses Simpson Krul

Bit of advice needed chaps. I need to swap out a defender so I can at least have a good chance at fielding three starters next game week.

Here is my backline, prepare to wince...

Caulker (ineligible), Evans (major doubt), Wilkinson (not playing), Tierney(doubt), Jose Enrique.

0.1m in the bank, so you can see that its pretty tight budget wise. I'm thinking of bringing McAuley in, as he is 4.0 and on the watchlist. Not sure if there are any other good shouts out there. It it worth just using my free and taking a risk that Tierney/Evans might play? Or should I go for a 4pt hit to make sure I have starters. I did an 8pt hit last week, which hasn't really paid off yet so not keen on taking much more. Its kind of a mess. Any advice/comments much appreciated.

They ment to be separate transfers mate? Because they don't add up if not, I only have 0.1m in the bank so in total if I take out Evans and Tierney then i have 8.6 to spend on two defenders. :S

You took an 8pt hit last week that didn't involve Wilko out? 😯

Your defence is too cheap and you're paying for it. I'm not being patronising, I suffer from the same problem.

I would do Evans > McAuley and hope for the best.

Quick question. In a DGW do Goalkeeper's saves carry over from the first match? For example, if Friedel makes 4 saves in the first game and 5 in the second, does he get 2 or 3 save points?

Remember, plenty of DGW in the past etc. They are counted as two seperate games. Same could be said for a defender playing 35 mins in each game & not conceding in both, you wouldn't expect him to get a CS.

Lindgard is £4.4 mill. You could start him and if De Gea does start as the first team keeper your sub keeper can start instead. Might be a better shout that Ruddy?

The captain choice for this gw is giving me headaches! Just took it of RVP to hand it to Mata, but already have major doubts. I feel RVP could struck a goal almost from nowhere, even if he plays for 30 mins. Against Wolves he was really unlucky. I also have Bale, Ade and Sturridge as options. Any thoughts?
