FFS Cup

Paddy Power Cup V – The Last 16

A few weeks back, over 2200 registered and now we are down to the last 16 of the Paddy Power Cup V. They’ve come through seven stages and are two victories away from playing for a prize. The draw for the next round has been and looks a lot like this…

1RaasclartVs.Mr Bungle
2mendersVs.CSKA AWFUL
3NattVs.Declan
4Der-Hammer95Vs.Sc8tt26
5soulman27Vs.runty
6ChickenDevilVs.Timmy Loving
7VereWinnerVs.sleepingmaster
8Bruce BaerVs.Funkyav

Top-seed, and 181st in the world, Der-Hammer95 has a tough assignment against 1,241st overall Sc8tt26. Of course at this stage of the competition there’s no easy games. In fact, there are only two teams with less than 1,000 points.

As luck would have it, those two Fantasy managers yet to hit four-digits have been matched together. 250k in the world VereWinner takes on 127k in the world sleepingmaster.

Last week’s top-scorer, Mr Bungle, once again finds himself as the away team in the first fixture of the round. There’s obviously no disadvantage to coming out of the hat second, and Mr Bungle actually has the effective lead going into his game with Raasclart. The 83 points between them means the ‘visitors’ will go through with a draw.

All ties will be played over the upcoming Gameweek 19, good luck to all!

Please note – with such a short turnaround from Gameweek 19 to Gameweek 20, we’ve made the decision to postpone the Quarter-Finals until Gameweek 21. This will ensure that the draw can be made and published well in advance of any deadline – it will also remove the double gameweek fixtures as a factor and bring the January wildcard into play for the last eight.

hmm tough one. Jones and Walcott will be back this week imo, and against weaker teams. Sturridge is his 2nd sub who may not make the 11 this week. i reckon you'll need nani, rvp and vermaelen to get you through.

Really can't make up my mind. Tones tones of options, it looks like I will play boring transfer and will do Jevans to Simpson. Why not. I am admitting my mistake for selling him he is great value, could easily pick a CS against Liv if he needs to come from the bench. Also he is rising tonight. Will need him GW 21 too.

I already have 2 Tot players and will have 2 frees next game so that means will bring Ade and Osman probably, If I am motivated I could do Jones to Baines for a hit or something.

Jevans out, Simpson in hahahaah great stuff. I really want to sell Silva too. But will do it next week probably or 2morrow.

For Wilko cause of the fixtures. I had Saylor too and want it him for the season. The fixtures were awfull in order to have 2 New defenders and I am very fond of the Saylor lad so I decided to bring Wilko and have Saylor for the season. That time Wilko was nailed on and Saylor was looking like excellent bet. He got injured together with Wilko, the rest is history

of lower ownerships, imo if there is one potential gamechanger in the double, it's VDV. he can be potentially explosive.

For sure. Very tempted to get him in for Silva...I've been burnt before this season but last year he was so good.

also the games are a week apart so not to worry on VDV fitness (unless he gets injured in the first of course). but that worry of whether he will play 2 games in 3 days isn't there for this dgw... seems a good candidate for points swings because most have taken him out for bale..

Yeah. For me it's a decision of Silva & BAE or Huth & VDV unless I take a hit. The latter is much less reliable and BAE could score big as well, but VDV could get 30 points if he feels like it.

Yeah I think ultimately it will come down to those who want to take a risk. VDV is a risk for sure, but he has the potential to get double figures in consecutive weeks.. Not on form but he can strike any time imo. personally i like to take a punt on him, but its a risk.

seems good options! I would personally not be too bothered with everton defenders in the double (assuming as expected they concede goals to spurs, it kind of negates their "double"). he would have to keep the clean sheet at bolton. that said kompany fixtures aren't that great in 20, liverpool at home. can always get him back with the wnter wildcard in gw 23 if you want him back?

Why is everybody so convinced about Sturridge instead of Ba, sometimes even for a 4 point hit?

Sturridge has 2 games in 3 days (nice fixtures) with a very high chance of rotation. Ba has 2 in 6 (difficult fixtures). Sturrdige scored more than 1 goal once, Ba 4 times.

I can understand the love for Sturridge but not getting him in for Ba at this moment. Surely it is better to wait after Ba goes for ACON? At that time Agbonlahor is getting interesting as well.

Well, he doesn't have to score more - if he scores the same then you've either gained nothing or lost 4 points if you took a hit to do it. Sturridge has played plenty of weak sides without banging in more than a single goal, and Ba has performed against good opposition.

Both are very consistent and i think people are maybe rushing a bit in getting Ba out.

He had City, United and Chelsea in a row in GW 12,13,14. He scored 5,8,2 respectively.

That being said, Studge is just as consistent and has the better fixtures so you can't really blame those who've done it.

I did the transfer ('twas a freebie) and I'm pretty confident that Sturridge can outscore Ba over the next few weeks. I remember doing a similar transfer earlier in the season (Agbonlahor out for Ba), when Agbonlahor was in red hot form but had some tough fixtures ahead. Since doing the transfer, Agbonlahor has scored 14 and Ba has scored 49.

If he was cheaper and i was struggling to fill the striker slots, then yes. I think he will start scoring once he gets a run in the team. But it's not worth it with sturridge, rvp, rooney, ade and ba to choose from.

Yeah, I mean it's a useful summary if I hadn't been watching as much football as I could for the last 5 months.

I'd like to see a bit more opinion, a bit on key match ups to come, form against each other this season and perhaps how that compares to previous season / seasons.

      It's good, you're 16 - keep at it.

    My team is

    Vrom (Ruddy)
    Jones Jagielka Raylor (Evans Wilkinson)
    Mata Bale Nani Tiote (Muamba)
    Adebayor Sturridge RVP

    RVP is the captain
