Injuries

Jones Leads United’s List of Emirates Casualties

Manchester United’s 2-1 win at the Emirates appears to have come at some cost, with Phil Jones reportedly facing “weeks” on the sidelines as just one of several casualties.

Jones was forced off after 17 minutes of the Emirates clash with an apparent ankle injury and Sir Alex Ferguson’s post match comments suggest that he could now face several weeks on the sidelines…

“It’s not good news for us…I think Jones will be out for a few weeks – it’s ankle ligaments.”

Reports state that Jones will undergo scans on the injury on Monday, at which point we will hopefully gain a confirmed term of absence.

Jones has suffered a number of knocks and niggles in his first season at Old Trafford and another setback would seem likely to diminish his Fantasy ownership further. The former Blackburn man has suffered heavy sales following his recent layoff with a jaw injury and illness.

There are also further reported knocks in the United camp, with Ferguson confirming that Michael Carrick had sustained a hamstring problem which left him stricken in the closing stages of today’s victory.

The Daily Mail also reports that Nani left the stadium in a protective boot having suffered an injury which forced him off on 75 minutes. Wayne Rooney is also reported to have been struggling with a knock which left him limping from the field on the final whistle.

Should Nani and Rooney face a spell on the sidelines, it would seem likely trigger significant FPL sales. Nani’s blank at the Emirates was his fifth consecutive game without returns, while Rooney has also gone off the boil, fetching just two assists in his last four league appearances.

We await further confirmation of those injuries from Old Trafford, with further reports likely to surface in tomorrow’s press.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Anyone else worried about Raylor's starting opportunities now? Really would hate to sell him as I got him at 4.0 and would lose 0.7 from a sale. If I sold him and he got back his starting role OOP, I would be really struggling to get him back. Have been considering Ciaran Clark as a replacement as I think he's also another OOP defender. I really do favour attack-minded defenders and try to get the most attacking defenders I can. Raylor to Clark a good transfer?

I sold him prior to the DGW for Hibbert for 4.6, thinking he'd lost his place to Santon. Naturally I was pretty livid to see him pop up at RM for the next two games and pretty smug to see him get a 5-min cameo on Saturday. Though he still managed to be Newcastle's highest scoring defender!

Basically, I think if everyone's fit, he's not a starter. But then again, Santon wasn't all that defensively vs Fulham.

can someone help me with this?

    current team

    Krul (sorenson)
    Skrtel, enrique, simpson, senderos, huth
    bale, silva, sess, dempsey, dyer,

Sorenson could be a risk. Go mignolet.

      Doubling on Liverpool is mad.

      Newcastle conceding without tiote.

I think everyone who uses this site will have that midfield. If you need to catch up in your league then think of changing it. Silva has to stay of course

Your midfield is pretty good as is. Having Valencia would be nice but having 5 top mids would limit you to playing them every week and wasting a valuable striker slot. I'd be more concerned with you doubling up on Liverpool defenders and Sorensen who rotates poorly with Krul. Get Mignolet to pair with Krul.

Yeah defence isn't all that, I wouldn't double on Liverpool or Stoke. As said previously, Mignolet for Sorensen all the way. Also do one of your Liverpool defs to a Man City def (Richards/Kompany/Clichy). I'd also consider Huth -> Evans.

    United fans/everyone:

It's pretty obvious a centre-mid is needed, but who/what type do ye think? I'd love a beast/all-rounder type like Yaya Toure to boss a game. Would be a type of player we haven't had in quite a while. Carrick has been excellent this season and Cleverley looks like he'll be in the first-team for a long time, but Giggs and Scholes are on their last legs, Fletcher will probably never be the same and I'm not overly convinced by Anderson. Javi Martinez would be absolutely ideal and I've said that since last season, or even Yann M'Vila of Rennes. (I'll admit to have only seen him play a couple of times). Oh, add Modric in too, but he'd cost a fortune. Just not Sneijder.

I watched part of Inter's game today, Sneijder came on as an early second half sub and played in the heart of the midfield in a 4411 and was excellent. Worked hard defensively and played some stellar Scholes-esque balls.

I think I'd prefer a deep lying playmaker though, then a box to box mid and lastly a destroyer however any of the three would be fine

Interesting that. He probably can do a job there but he's quoted as saying he prefers to play as a second-striker. I doubt he'd be too happy playing in a two-man midfield.

    A: Valencia and McClean
    B: Sess and Walters

The rest of the midfield would be Silva, Bale and Dempsey. Currently I have option B. Thinking about switching.. Uniteds fixture list is holding me back tho..

While reading this, i'm pretty sure i'll be sticking to B. But feel free to discuss =)

Robin Van Persie stated that he was unhappy with the clubs progress and promises were not kept. This should alert a few big clubs.
