The Pre-Season Guide

This morning we’ve added our Pre-Season section to the site and main menu bar (at the top of your page). This links through to the pre-season guide – our comprehensive coverage of Premier League sides’ warm-ups before the big kick-off.

In the guide you’ll find links to all our notable pre-season articles so far, including the End of Season reports for the promoted teams – West Ham, Southampton and Reading.

The guide also lists all the upcoming friendlies for Premier League sides and we’ll be recording the result of each one, with a link to the match report and recording the scorers. Under this we’ll be putting together some pre-season scout notes on each team and listing the form players. This should equip you with all you need to get a synopsis of how each team has fared over the summer, the lineup trends and the players taking form into the kick-off. Scout Notes, published regularly on the homepage, will also add to our pre-season package.

West Ham started us off with their 3-1 defeat to Austria Vienna earlier this week, with a good amount of teams in action this weekend. Highlights of the summer include the Arsenal vs Man City clash on July 27, United’s meeting with Barcelona on August 8 and, of course, Swansea’s encounter with “Ventura County Fusion”. No, we haven’t a clue either.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

        Just one of the many rumours but Allen & Lucas would be a pretty sexy partnership. Gerrard may play deeper, depends where Rodgers sees his role now. Cole could play a part, not overally bothered tho, id rather Aqualini stayed but I still think he'll probably leave.

        I think Downing will get a place ahead of "Allen" on the left side. With Carroll going out on loan somewhere. Adam, Henderson on the bench with maybe Cole as super sub or rotation with Dempsey/Downing.

      Dempsey doesn't seem logical for me. He has stated he wants to play CL. Fulham tied LFC on points. Granted you have history, but you don't have CL. He also is too old for FSG transfer policy.
      This seems like one of the names BR said is wide of the mark. Anything can happen though I guess.

    I cannot believe this. I'm currently on this study course to take some work related exams. Brought the wrong question book today. Of course it's my fault and it's not ideal but for one day it shouldn't be a problem, I can just share with the guy sitting next to me right? He REFUSED to share 😯

    Does anyone know how to find goal/ assist records for individual players alongside fixtures (e.g. which games Holt scored/ assisted in last season- were they home, away, vs. easy, vs. hard etc)?

        Didn't say he was a bad player but he's not in Silvas league. Milner is worth £10mill max. These inflated prices are going to destroy football.

        Until your own team comes close to going out of business you just can't understand it. Sympathies extended to Rangers and Pompey fans; must be awful for them at the moment.

        My main point is that football has to become sustainable.

          Think I saw a stat that Man Citys wages exceeded turnover last year. That is completely ridiculous and as you say, unsustainable.

          The financial fair play rules are coming in for a reason and it's to protect football in the long run, from big spending foreign owners who treat clubs as their toys.

          Mike Ashley has been pretty unpopular at times but no NUFC fan can criticise the way he handles the transfer policy while it yields continued success at the moment ...

          No it's a joke but I think wages are the bigger issue. If you overpay for a player - that's your choice. Plus you can stop doing it and sell off players. If you sign massive contracts then you are stuck with them and if they are ill advised you can't offload players either.

        Aye, but had a check on stats from 09/10 and lucas seems to be guaranteed to pick up 4 bonus points a game. Add a few man of the matches, some yellows, and apperance points and he looks very likely to get near to 200 points - what dempsey got last season

              Nothing. I think he's a great player. But his assists over the past 4 seasons (when he has played regularly) have been 1,1,2,11 - last year was a complete freak. 11 assists for a DM, without set pieces, just won't happen again.

              And saying he's not as good as Busquets is hardly having beef.

    So Terry has admitted to saying the racially abusive words...... sarcastically or in jest or as a question he claims. But surely that's an admission of guilt in itself. Just like Suarez was (rightly) found guilty, even though he claimed he was saying it as a term of endearment (as per his countries customs or whatever).
