The Big Numbers – Gameweek 8

Gameweek 8 saw a handful of the key Fantasy targets produce some of their best performances of the season. Our members area is brimming with statistics to help piece together the story behind them but, as always, here’s our summary of just some of the figures that leap out.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Current team:

    Foster, Bego
    Baines, Gallas, Saylor, Hughes, Demel
    Hazard, Santi, Bale, Pienaar, Sterling
    Tevez, Ba, Berba

    1.2 in the bank, 1FT

Question marks over Tevez PT after Dzeko’s performance I assume...
    Any suggested transfers?

    Watchlist: RVP, Mata, Aguero

Saylor is a worry because he was benched and possibly Tevez being prone to rotation. Only 2 issues to me. I say wait till CL is over and see how Man City does to decide on Tevez future.

tevez has started the last 4 league games, the problem is just that he's not scoring goals.

    Lallana-Bale-Pienaar-Sterling-Santi
    Ba-RVP-Berbatov

    1.6 in the bank

    Is Pienaar -> Walters/Adam a good idea?

Hey guys. How was everyone's GW... had a disappointing week myself.

So in the Terms on Mata man, he has the CL game mid-week, Man Utd at the w/end, Man UTd midweek (Cup), followed by Swansea, then CL again midweek. Looking at those fixtures, it looks most likely he'll be rested for the Swansea game, the best of the next 2 fixtures for Chelsea in the PL. As I'm planning to WC before GW11, is it worth getting Mata now for (UTD/swa) when he could possibly miss the Swansea game? Just a thought?

          G.Johnson
Stoke Defender (if you want to double up on stoke)
Newcastle defenders (krul is back and it helps thought Tiote is gone now..)

having rvp and aguero upfront really restrict my budget. currently only santi is the big hitter for midfield.

    begovic
    o'shea, baines, clyne
    puncheon, sterling, santi, michu
    rvp, aguero, ba

    subs: foster, mcauley, hughes, pienaar.

Why did I (c) Suarez over RVP? I can't say I wasn't warned. My insistence on resisting the obvious choice is going to kill me. From now on I will do whatever anyone on here tells me to do. No, really.

Mata or Bale for this GW? Bale has the better next two fixtures, but Mata seems to be on fire. Once they have both survived the CL/Europa matches I am inclined to bring in Bale. Thoughts?

I personally would not bring in a City player this week because of the uncertainty. However, I would wait until Wed night and see who plays. If Tevez does not appear I would definitely choose him. If both he and Aguero play a full match I would just stay away. If Silva is able to play on Saturday he is not likely to be sharp so I would wait and make a different transfer.

Aguero will play 100%. Think about it if he plays midweek and is rested against Swansea then he gets around 9 days rest which is just crazy.

A very mixed bag of a week here but 2 ft's and I am really stuck as to what the priority is.

I need bale. I need stoke def (s). I want aguero and mata and sagna but want to keep michu and peanut. Raga could go but that doesn't bring in too much money. Ahh don't know how to play this

Yeah, I see your problem. I think Bale is a priority over Mata, and I think Aguero is not a priority for this GW (he will almost certainly start Wed night and that could affect Saturday). Sagna can wait. You can use Suarez for money, but unless you go for Lambert he won't finance a Michu/Pienaar to Bale switch anyway. You COULD do a 4-pointer where Hazard becomes Mata, Suarez becomes Jelavic, and Pienaar becomes Bale (I think that works out money-wise). You would of course want to wair until after the CL matches.

Yeh I'm in the same spot, Dyer -> barfa for me, with torres out for Crouch. Have the cash to do mata but just fancy the NC. fixtures over CFC.

I think both your options are good ones. Tevez has good fixtures and has been doing pretty well for you though so probably wilson. however if you have other city cover or perhaps begovic in goal then I like Crouch.

Berbs - great player, takes pens, could outscore crouch. Just like the stoke fixtures a tad better.

Yeh. He could easily start again next week. Aguero and Dzeko are probably odds on to start CL on wednesday, leaving Tevez rested for saturday.

I have aguero and with CL and argentina, hes in a viscous cycle of not starting prem games. Still, what a player.

Not sure if I count as experienced (played for years but this is the first year doing it seriously with FFS help). I have decided to go with Jelavic and Baines and lose Pienaar for Bale. Pienaar is great value, but I feel like I am losing ground to people with Mata/Hazard, Bale, and Caz, and one of my mid-priced mids has to go to get in that game. Hate to lose him, but I think he is the one I can best do without.

Fair call. I like the Jelavic Baines duo.

My front 8 if I keep pienaar will be BArfa (in for Dyer), Cazorla, Pienaar, Sterling, Malone, Van Persie, Aguero, Crouch (in for Torres). 2.3M in bank.

I could consider Jelavic instead of crouch and do pienaar -> walters for a hit to get stoke cover for next few weeks.

Its a good point about Pienaar , i had automatically thought i would keep him, however there might be a better alternative.
Keep him this week , then watch to see how Tevez and berbatov go , if either of them dissapoint could swap for Jelavic , then wouldnt need Pienaar
