Sky Sports Focus

Our regular Friday look at the Sky Sports Fantasy game sees a change at the top of the Scout League as Fantasy managers stake a claim for the overall top prize of 25K. We cast an eye over this week’s transfer market and look forward to tonight’s Fantasy Football club…

The Scout League

Charles Mouzon is the new top dog in the Scout League. Having climbed his way up the rankings in the last few weeks, he now has a three-point lead at the top – his side “Geordie Boys” sit on 672 points, 12th overall. Long-time leader Chris Tuck has finally been overtaken, then, though his side “Vuvuzela Symphony” are just three points off the pace. Paul Hennessey is back to occupy third spot; his “Hennessey’s Heroes” are four points further behind Chris.

At present, we have four of the top 20 managers in the overall rankings, with Lewis Nicklen also riding high. The gap at the top has opened up a little, though; Charles is 54 points behind the overall leader in the chase for the £25K top prize.

As you may have heard in this week’s ScoutCast, Granville enjoyed another fine week in the Sky Sports game and is now ranked above Mark for the first time this season. Andy still remains the top Scout contributor, however: he sits in 54th place in the Scout League, despite Granville’s 68 points ranking as the second top overall score in our league this week.

Overall, the Scout remains at the summit of the League of Leagues but our lead has been cut from 14 points down to six points, with our top five averaging 663.8 between them.

A reminder that if you’re playing the Sky Sports game and have yet to join our league, you can sign up to the FFScout League with this Pin: 8004519. We have a home cinema system, worth £600, available to the winner.

Market Trends

Marouane Fellaini is the most in-demand player ahead of Everton’s trip to Reading this weekend. The Belgian’s goal and assist in the 2-1 win over Sunderland earned him 15 points and with a price of 6.1, he’s been subject to over 32% of all trades in this week. Stoke’s resilience at the back has made Asmir Begovic a popular pick – the Bosnian stopper has soared to the top of the keeper rankings and subsequently drawn a raft of new interest. Over 27% of transfers made this week saw Begovic brought in with Michel Vorm and Ben Foster both suffering heavy sales – that pair were shipped out en masse following their Gameweek 11 absence; both were included in 16% of the transfers out made over the last seven days.

Luis Suarez’s form has seen him attract more interest that Robin Van Persie this week with the Liverpool man commanding 26% of the transfers in, with the Dutchman claiming 23%. Interestingly, Van Persie also suffered significant sales as managers presumably made the trade to Suarez: almost 15% of transfers made this week saw Van Persie move out of squads, perhaps a trend as folk seek a differential to close a mini-league gap. Even so, with United’s fixtures strong, that looks a major risk.

The Fantasy Football Club

The boisterous Jimmy Bullard joins Fenners and Merse on this week’s episode of the Fantasy Football Club : it should be noisy. Join the boys from 10pm on Sky Sports one for the usual mix of banter and “ITK” Fantasy tips for the Sky Sports game.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Got 2FT and 0.5m in the bank, but don’t know where to use a transfer, team is:

    Beg

    Baines / Cameron / Simpson

    Mata / Caz / Bale / Sterling

Ba / Van Persie / Berb

Bench: McCarthy / Gorkss / Maloney / Cuellar

Decided earlier this week not to bring in fellaini due to suspension concerns and would only want him for next 2 fixtures.

    Currently thinking:

Caz -> Walcott if confirmed fit; or
    Caz -> Valencia

    Thoughts?

Yeah, nothing obvious that needs doing there. Perhaps worth upgrading Simpson given NEW are without Collocini and Guitierez. Does 0.5m given you enough to get Sagna?

If you take out the 2 first GWs and compare to other mids, it's 24 points. You'll find there's better options for about that price:

    Happy Birthday Paul Scholes.

    Christiano Ronaldo on Scholes:
When we were in training, I used to do a lot of tricks which hardly players at club could do. Once I was showing my skills to Scholes. After I finished it, Scholes took a ball and pointed towards a tree which was about 50m from where we were standing. He said I’m going to hit it in one shot. He kicked it and hit the tree. He asked me to do the same, I kicked about 10 times, but couldn’t hit it with that accuracy. He smiled and left.

It's a classic case of what happens when programmers design websites. Negative NTI after a rise is important for the calculation behind the scenes (because NTI are reset and the transfer numbers wouldn't make sense if you didn't compensate for that).

But showing it is completely misleading to anyone actually using the site.

Yeah, completely true. They need to program in the rises so that if the rise then the NTI shows the daily NTI. Can't be that difficult shirley?

No, it's because his NTI are 31k less than they were at midnight. But this is because they were reset to 0 when he rose.

Ok, I understand negatives etc, but why is the net transfer today negative.

If it resets every day then it should be positive? Transfers in less transfers out for today only?

That's how it should work, but it's based on the total NTI. So the daily NTI is based on the current NTI - the NTI at midnight the night before.

Well certainly of the two Rooney can be swapped. I think United have a chance to consolidate their lead now, it'd be utter madness to let that slip. Can't see RVP not playing, we lost the league on goal difference so why would we rest our highest scoring striker against a defence he's fully capable of ripping apart.

Yeah I agree. I mean Norwich have picked up lately especially defensively, so theres bo guarantee of a win against them away from home unless a full strength squad is out.

Certainly an option, I was just pointing out that if we were to rest one of the forwards for Hernandez, Rooney would make the most sense.

I think it's more to do with everyone having RVP. If you look at it without the worry aspect he's almost certain to play imo.

Looked at your team and that is a tough one. Play HBA just because of the cash paid for him. I'd be inclined to dicth him for some one that does not cause selection problems. But then, you hold him for the long term, you may get decent return. Not much help from me, I guess.

It`s not him starting that is bothering me it`s the fact that Hernandez looked so sharp last week. Maybe I'm overthinking it but I could see Hernandez stealing RVPs thunder somewhat.

I think it's more about which Wigan show up. Martinez seems to know how to deal with modern systems (e.g. Spurs). But then Rodgers' Swansea beat them in both fixtures last year.

But I said that yesterday and it didn't go down well 🙂 Expectation is for Wigan to triumph because Pool don't turn up against 'weak' teams.

Does Sessegnon still play 'in the hole'? I know his form is nowhere near last year's form, but i am playing catch up in my league, he might be a good differential for DGW...(I'm praying for a Fellaini yellow so I can do this direct swap)

    A'noon,

Just a skipper query, as it seems that most people with berbs and rvp in their teams are really confident going (c) with the dutchman. I'm really not sure as:

    - utd away can come unstuck
    - norwich getting better
    - rvp will play behind chico
    - berbs on fire
    - berbs rested all week
    - berbs on pens
    - fulham at home go all out attack
    - sunderland not looking great

I'm currently on berbs (c) but appreciate any thoughts

    cheers

You should clarify that Sunderland don't look great in attack. their defence is another matter. they were really unlucky to lose having repelled every attack for 75 minutes.

True enough, but I will surprised if fulham don't score at least 2 goals to be honest with berbs involved in everything. It is a tough one though, I can see another RVP 1 assist similar to villa. Decisions, decisions...
