Sky Sports Focus

Our regular Friday look at the Sky Sports Fantasy game sees a change at the top of the Scout League as Fantasy managers stake a claim for the overall top prize of 25K. We cast an eye over this week’s transfer market and look forward to tonight’s Fantasy Football club…

The Scout League

Charles Mouzon is the new top dog in the Scout League. Having climbed his way up the rankings in the last few weeks, he now has a three-point lead at the top – his side “Geordie Boys” sit on 672 points, 12th overall. Long-time leader Chris Tuck has finally been overtaken, then, though his side “Vuvuzela Symphony” are just three points off the pace. Paul Hennessey is back to occupy third spot; his “Hennessey’s Heroes” are four points further behind Chris.

At present, we have four of the top 20 managers in the overall rankings, with Lewis Nicklen also riding high. The gap at the top has opened up a little, though; Charles is 54 points behind the overall leader in the chase for the £25K top prize.

As you may have heard in this week’s ScoutCast, Granville enjoyed another fine week in the Sky Sports game and is now ranked above Mark for the first time this season. Andy still remains the top Scout contributor, however: he sits in 54th place in the Scout League, despite Granville’s 68 points ranking as the second top overall score in our league this week.

Overall, the Scout remains at the summit of the League of Leagues but our lead has been cut from 14 points down to six points, with our top five averaging 663.8 between them.

A reminder that if you’re playing the Sky Sports game and have yet to join our league, you can sign up to the FFScout League with this Pin: 8004519. We have a home cinema system, worth £600, available to the winner.

Market Trends

Marouane Fellaini is the most in-demand player ahead of Everton’s trip to Reading this weekend. The Belgian’s goal and assist in the 2-1 win over Sunderland earned him 15 points and with a price of 6.1, he’s been subject to over 32% of all trades in this week. Stoke’s resilience at the back has made Asmir Begovic a popular pick – the Bosnian stopper has soared to the top of the keeper rankings and subsequently drawn a raft of new interest. Over 27% of transfers made this week saw Begovic brought in with Michel Vorm and Ben Foster both suffering heavy sales – that pair were shipped out en masse following their Gameweek 11 absence; both were included in 16% of the transfers out made over the last seven days.

Luis Suarez’s form has seen him attract more interest that Robin Van Persie this week with the Liverpool man commanding 26% of the transfers in, with the Dutchman claiming 23%. Interestingly, Van Persie also suffered significant sales as managers presumably made the trade to Suarez: almost 15% of transfers made this week saw Van Persie move out of squads, perhaps a trend as folk seek a differential to close a mini-league gap. Even so, with United’s fixtures strong, that looks a major risk.

The Fantasy Football Club

The boisterous Jimmy Bullard joins Fenners and Merse on this week’s episode of the Fantasy Football Club : it should be noisy. Join the boys from 10pm on Sky Sports one for the usual mix of banter and “ITK” Fantasy tips for the Sky Sports game.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

In all seriousness I wouldn't have a striker if I wanted to bench him. Sterling is bench fodder, cheap and might turn out to be better than that. Crouch is main threat in a team with good fixtures, if you don't rate him enough to play him then I'd swap him out.

How will the ignore feature work if/when it is implemented? Will the user's comments and threads just not show up in the articles? E.g. i would see 29 threads on the page, but there would be 30 in actuality as i've got that specific user on ignore?

I've used it on one or two forums and it wasn`t great. Example being the guy you have on ignore answers something you write so his comments are blocked from your view but hten someone answers the guy on ignore so you can read his comments but not the ignored posters so then you end up unblocking the guy so you can understand the replies.

Christ I made that hard. It`s shit is what I'm saying.

I think you'd be able to choose users to block so any of the ones you haven't blocked will appear as usual. I reckon any discussion that goes on on a blocked post will be completely removed from your view, you may miss out on a discussion however if you've blocked an absolute twat I imagine all you'll be missing out on is everyone calling him a twat 😀

I think any twat who begins spamming other discussions will eventually be removed.
This system I'm thinking of is more like this
Twat is the original poster, the post and all discussion is blocked
Normal person is poster and twat replies. Twat's reply and subsequent replies to the twat's reply are blocked.

And when I say removed, I mean, in most cases, it will be replaced by "this comment has been hidden due to negative feedback".

Users can view it if they really want by clicking the comment but it won't be visible by default. Admins have the ability to remove without trace.

The solution, if you want to be active here is to post good quality stuff, within the terms and conditions and not create a reputation that will make you unpopular with the respected community members who can quickly make your comments vanish by default.

New posters will have a voice and a vote but to start influencing and curating comments e.g.: the comments that get voted up to the top of a thread when sorting by quality, and the comments that get hidden due to negative feedback, they will have to build rep by earning votes for their own posts. No rep score will be visible, so there is no visible heirachy as such, but we are toying with the idea of including some milestone awards.

Are you not worried that by introducing a voting system you will introduce groups voting for each other much the same way as pop up wordpress sites have fed off your site ultimately devaluing the vote to who knows who?

Anything new on Walcott? I'm considering Cazorla -> Walcott, but have to do it within 2 hours or so since I'll be unavailable the rest of the weekend. Seems way too risky at the moment, with Cazorla being nailed on and Walcott a slight doubt. If Walcott plays though, that hampers his returns since Walcott seems to be hogging the set-pieces.

Well.. I might downgrade one of Silva, Mata or Bale to start.

A switch of one of them to Fellaini should increase that 7.6 to around 9.6, with that you have more choices available for that valuable third spot.

Just got in Silva, so I wouldn't do that now, downgrading Mata is not the way to go I think when he's red-hot, and Bale, the moment you take him out, he comes back to give you sleepless nights. 🙁

I think Fellaini has just as many points in him as those three and seems to score even when Everton aren't playing well (Sunderland game is a great example of that). The fact that he plays in a more advanced role than Bale, Silva and Mata also helps. Your choice though dude, good luck.

            Liverpool 1 Wigan 1
            City 3 Villa 0
            Newcastle 2 Swansea 1
            QPR 1 Southampton 1
            Reading 1 Everton 3
            WBA 1 Chelsea 1
            Norwich 1 United 3
            Fulham 2 Sunderland 0
            West Ham 2 Stoke 1.

Best choice out of these three keepers for this weekend? Howard, Cesar or Reina?

I like them tbh. I'm confident my yellow flagged players will start, and it keeps their ownership lower

Who else can see fergie throwing one of his curve balls and keeping rvp on the bench this week. It is a good game to give him abit of rest. I am seriously considering berba or tevez captain

Don't know why Fergie would rest him unless he is genuinely injured, is doubtful. They've already qualified for the Champs League knockout, so it's more likely he'll be rested for the Champs league instead of the Norwich match.

It's a long season ahead but good point re cl. I am of course going to start him but I have already been burnt once with a 2 point rvp captain which is making me twitch

Anyone else worried that Van Persie might start on the bench and Hernandez & Rooney play?

Its always possible and Ferguson has hinted that Hernandez will start

But, I think its more likely that RVP will strat with Hernandez (and Rooney instead of Young if he's fit) with RVP rested midweek in the Champions League

My defence Cameron, Shawcross, Rafael, Caulker, Gorkss.

My midfield Sterling, Fellaini, Walcott, Morrison, Mata.

For my defence do I bench Caulker and Gorkss ?,
and for my midfielf do I bench Morrison or Sterling ?
