The Stock Check

The Stock Check – Tuesday – Part Two

Southampton battle for a point at St Mary’s as Theo Walcott endures a frustrating evening on his return to his former stamping ground. Here’s the Stock Check on Saturday’s evening kick-off…

On the Up

Gaston Ramirez
Back in the side having been kept out of the heat of the Britannia battle, the Uruguayan fired home his third goal of the season to give the Saints the advantage. Ramirez has promised much since his arrival, without really catching fire as a Fantasy asset. With Adam Lallana seemingly sidelined for the foreseeable future, however, he looks to be a key figure in Southampton’s battle for survival and my yet draw our interest when fixtures fall kinder for Nigel Adkins’ men.

Jason Puncheon
A prime budget option, Puncheon has disappointed of late having looked to be making a mockery of his price tag. Nonetheless, the assist for tonight’s goal took him to six for the season and with two goals and a record that shows he’s started the last ten league matches, Puncheon is a reliable budget midfielder who offers attacking intent. He could yet show his worth if the Saints can improve their goal output.

The Southampton Defence
Prior to conceding three at Stoke, Nigel Adkins’ side had let in just four goals in six league outings. Tonight, the new resolute defence was again on show as Southampton worked tirelessly to stifle the Arsenal threat. Nathaniel Clyne missed out again with a knee problem but he and Jose Fonte are emerging as decent budget options in the light of the new emphasis on keeping things tight.

Going Down

Theo Walcott
While the Gunners man returned the assist for Do Prado’s own goal, Walcott suffered a miserable night back at his former club. Having seen little joy in the lone striker role, he was shifted to a wide role on the introduction of Oliver Giroud. Walcott cut a forlorn figure at the whistle and this was a far cry from the stunning display that helped see off Newcastle at the weekend.

Santi Cazorla
It’s just one assist in three matches now for the playmaker who has found himself dissolve into the background in Fantasy terms, as Walcott has come to the fore. Owners of Cazorla will surely have one eye on the double fixture in Gameweek 23 and hoping for a revival, while tonight’s showing from Walcott will perhaps do little to prompt the straight swap.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Hey folks

    Is this team worth wildcarding?

    Any suggested changes?

    Begovic, Ruddy

    Nelsen, Enrique, Demel, Cuellar, Gorkks

    Mata, Michu, Bale, Walcott, Sterling

    RVP, Aguero, Berbatov

    Thoughts please?
    Thank you

He got an assist today, I don't see how that can justify going down in the stock check.

He won't score a hat-trick every week. Plus he was always going to go to right wing when giroud comes on.

I can see walcott being right wing most games and up top against lesser opposition at home.

I wasn't talking about Walcott specifically.....More about how a player just goes up one week, and down another depending on the points he get.

If i was forced to take a guess, it's probably because he did poorly compared to last week's massive haul. Hence his stock his down. Just a guess.

Because he was shifted wide with the introduction of Girioud. That could indicate that Walcott may, in the near future, end up back on the flank.

Keeping both. Will bring in Bale for GW 24. He may be 10m by then but would rather have both Cazorla and Walcott for DGW and don't think Bale will go crazy again against Manchester United like he did at Old Trafford. Only 'scary' game is QPR next week but maybe Harry will know how to stop his old team and Bale will only register 1 assist or 1 goal which I won't mind missing out on.

We "soft launched" RMT and Hall of Fame this evening - it was all a bit hectic with matches going on so there were a few bugbears.

I've addressed the issue with banned players from GW21 being carried over to GW22 and we will get the ad removed so there is no issue with the dropdowns being cut off.

I'll also look into the issue with the dropdown menus on ipad - they do work, but not as they should. To add/remove a player, for some reason you need to click on another item in the menubar first then go back to add/remove player. This only seems to be an issue on ipad but Ed will take a look at this and try to iron this out.

I'll do an official launch of these features tomorrow once we've assessed these issues and any others.

Please drop me a line at support@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk if there are any other issues noticed. It's a complex beast!

He is a cheap midfielder at a medium price.

Puncheon is in the same team ...

    Repost, 1, 2 or 3?

    1 – Evans, Nolan, Aguero
    2 – Nastasic, Fellaini, Suarez
    3 – 4.9 DEF, Fellaini, Aguero

    Potential WC team

    Bunn, Begovic
    Cameron, Davies, 4M, Sagna, X
    Michu, Walcott, Mata, Bale, X
    RVP, Pog, X

Thinking of re thinking strategy and leaving Fellaini out and reverting back to 3-4-3..

Aye, heard that. Just drafting in folks like Pienaar and Snodgrass now to get some rises! Will be keeping an ear out.

Happy new year to you too.
