Double Gameweek 22 Confirmed

Chelsea’s 5-1 hammering of Southampton at St Mary’s earlier today ensured Fantasy managers now have a double Gameweek 22 on our agendas. The win, which saw Demba Ba score twice on his Blues debut, now gives up back-to-back doubles to plan for, with winter wildcards likely to be wielded in substantial numbers ahead of next weekend’s deadline.

Chelsea face a tricky trip to Stoke on Saturday January 12, while Southampton are also on their travels – Nigel Adkins’ side make their way to Villa Park before rolling up to Stamford Bridge the following Wednesday evening.

Bearing in mind Arsenal and West Ham both have a double the following week, there’s plenty to consider as we reassess our squads in light of today’s results. We’ll be rolling out “Scouting the Doubles” articles on Chelsea and Southampton over the next few days, with similar pieces on the Gunners and Hammers the following week.

As a result of today’s news, we shall reset the Captain Poll, affording you the opportunity to select your likely armband contenders, with Ba, Juan Mata and Eden Hazard all likely to receive significant investment, given the ease with which Rafa Benitez’s side eased past the Saints. We shall also readjust the Season Ticker to reflect the change in fixture schedule – for now, though, this is just a heads-up post in the off chance you somehow missed this afternoon’s turn of events.

Hi, looking for some advice - my current team is

Szczesny (begovic)
Cuellar/CLYNE/O'Brien/(Bassong)/(Shawcross)
Michu/Cazorla/MATA/Duff/(Sterling)
rvp/Cole/Defoe

So i have two DGW this week, and before the chelsea DGW had planned to just save my free transfer to get in another arsenal/WH next week (to give 6 DGW) and then wildcard to fix.

I still have two wildcards, so considering doing something crazy like using one wildcard now to get a team similar to:

TURNBULL/(Foster)
LUIZ/FONTE/Riether/(O'Brien)/(Gibbs)
MATA/PUNCHEON/Fellaini/Nolan/(walcott)
rvp/cole/LAMBERT

Then next week I'll use my transfer to bring in Podolski for Lambert giving 6 DGW again, and then use second wildcard to fix. Anyone like this idea, or am i overrating the DGW and would be better served saving my anytime wildcard instead of using them both to capitalize on the DGW?

If people like the idea, any obvious changes anyone can see to my team? Don't really want to get rid of rvp due to cost of getting him back, and figured fulham was best option for a defender for CS this week, Foster the best keeper choice for next week, and fellaini was slightly better than michu for both GWs

    agree with this completely - especially in relation to the likes of clinical rvp but he's so dangerous in his current position that goals and assists tend to happen as a result of the sheer relentless consistency of his threat.. surely D.S. should be the one to work on the wings..

Have fiddled and tinkered to try and get Bale in my WC team, and the end product is this:

Turnbull (Bego)
Azpi - Gibbs - Shaw (Demel, Harte)
Walcott - Bale - Mata - Fellaini (Puncheon)
RVP - Suarez - Lambert

Leaves me with 0.0 in the bank and lack of flexibility...
Is it worth it?

When the West ham / Arsenal DGW was first announced, it stated that if both West Ham and Arsenal went out of FA cup, the double would be week 24, not week 23. (See: http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2012/12/19/arsenal-v-west-ham-boxing-day-game-postponed/ )

Assuming this is still the case, the replay means we may need to wait until after the West ham replay to know for sure which week the double is (If Arsenal lose tomorrow).

Should I get rid of Suarez now? I've just bought him in to replace Ba using my only FT (Knee-jerk) without realising that he have difficult fixtures ahead. I'm not sure whether he will be fixture proof or not this time around. He has rised up 0.1 and no profit gained yet from him. Should I get a hit and replace him for DGW players.

as in, get Ba back for a hit and another Chelsea player.
Current DGWer is ONLY Fonte.
