Chelsea’s 5-1 hammering of Southampton at St Mary’s earlier today ensured Fantasy managers now have a double Gameweek 22 on our agendas. The win, which saw Demba Ba score twice on his Blues debut, now gives up back-to-back doubles to plan for, with winter wildcards likely to be wielded in substantial numbers ahead of next weekend’s deadline.

Chelsea face a tricky trip to Stoke on Saturday January 12, while Southampton are also on their travels – Nigel Adkins’ side make their way to Villa Park before rolling up to Stamford Bridge the following Wednesday evening.

Bearing in mind Arsenal and West Ham both have a double the following week, there’s plenty to consider as we reassess our squads in light of today’s results. We’ll be rolling out “Scouting the Doubles” articles on Chelsea and Southampton over the next few days, with similar pieces on the Gunners and Hammers the following week.

As a result of today’s news, we shall reset the Captain Poll, affording you the opportunity to select your likely armband contenders, with Ba, Juan Mata and Eden Hazard all likely to receive significant investment, given the ease with which Rafa Benitez’s side eased past the Saints. We shall also readjust the Season Ticker to reflect the change in fixture schedule – for now, though, this is just a heads-up post in the off chance you somehow missed this afternoon’s turn of events.

      The Chelsea / Soton DGW is forcing peoples hands.
      I'm not sure what to do myself.

      I may risk no Chelsea coverage.
      Seen it so many times where a team has a comprehensive victory in a cup game but the league match will be tighter and Stoke I'm sure will regroup after a bad couple of weeks.

        the conundrum is that is it worth putting too many chelsea players in - especially attackers - knowing that benitez is just as likely to put a mata or a hazard on the bench these days. tempting isn't it but i don't think its worth going too far down the chelsea route,i'm gonna use mine to revamp the team as a whole not just make the most of the dgw

      Ridiculously strong front 8, I would drop one of them for a cheapie and upgrade a defender. Otherwise you'll find yourself shitting yerself each week, praying your benched forward or mid doesn't go mental.

    I've been out all day, went to the Brighton v Newcastle game. If anyone saw it, Brighton were much the better side, very impressive. Keep an eye out for Liam Bridcutt.

      Saw about 60 minutes of the game.
      Ba looked dangerous throughout, could have had 2 more goals on another day, If Torres starts a Premier League game in the near future I'll be a little shocked.
      Mata was the real star of the show though, looked absolutely sublime while he was on the field.

      Finishing good, positioning good, eagerness to get on the end of an attack before it even really begins: excellent. He spent a lot of time facing the CB when the ball was out wide ready to make a run in behind. He will fit in well enough and won't have trouble adjusting if he gets the game time it seems.

      P.s I only saw patches of the first half and most of the second, probably saw around 50-60 mins in total.
