Chelsea’s 5-1 hammering of Southampton at St Mary’s earlier today ensured Fantasy managers now have a double Gameweek 22 on our agendas. The win, which saw Demba Ba score twice on his Blues debut, now gives up back-to-back doubles to plan for, with winter wildcards likely to be wielded in substantial numbers ahead of next weekend’s deadline.

Chelsea face a tricky trip to Stoke on Saturday January 12, while Southampton are also on their travels – Nigel Adkins’ side make their way to Villa Park before rolling up to Stamford Bridge the following Wednesday evening.

Bearing in mind Arsenal and West Ham both have a double the following week, there’s plenty to consider as we reassess our squads in light of today’s results. We’ll be rolling out “Scouting the Doubles” articles on Chelsea and Southampton over the next few days, with similar pieces on the Gunners and Hammers the following week.

As a result of today’s news, we shall reset the Captain Poll, affording you the opportunity to select your likely armband contenders, with Ba, Juan Mata and Eden Hazard all likely to receive significant investment, given the ease with which Rafa Benitez’s side eased past the Saints. We shall also readjust the Season Ticker to reflect the change in fixture schedule – for now, though, this is just a heads-up post in the off chance you somehow missed this afternoon’s turn of events.

      I think stick to the original plan.

      Most people will have Mata and Southampton players could easily get only 2 points. Just try to get a Chelsea defender and then your sorted. Wildcard after to get rid of west ham players and the rest that you want to get rid of.

    Can I just ask...

    Is anyone considering wildcarding before the Arsenal/Wham DGW instead of after it?

    Then slowly transferring out the ones you don't want in order to get back to the team you want going forward?

          Yep, though I already have 3 Arsenal and 1 WHU and 2 Chelsea so just a couple of hits for me and WC after as late as possible to have knowledge of the transfers that have been made.
          This because I wasted my other WC early in the season.

      definitely not A.....why would you do Ba over Mata? Mata is the best player in the league, and has a DGW next week.

      He's a season keeper. Biggest dilemma seems to be fitting Bale and Mata in the same team!!!

      Ba is not a guaranteed anything, regardless of today. You put some effort in posting all that (like I do, and get little to no responses MOST the time), so I shall give you a decent ( i think) response.

      I would do C) all day out of that lot!!! Get Ba and Mata, and the rest.

      Don't do it. He was running on adrenaline today. He can't play 90 minutes at that level. He can't even play 60 minutes at that level. Once the novelty wears off he'll resume his position, bent double, hands on his knees, coughing his lungs up.

    Got both double gameweeks covered, a decent attacking fb playing twice (almost nailed on now), a quality attacking fback in Gibbs, a solid midfield and in my and many others opinion, a dream frontline.........
