The ScoutCast – Episode Ninety Five – Rush

Rush. The best form of goalkeepers for the playground. A long-haired Canadian prog-rock outfit. A mustachioed goal sniffer and, sadly, a description of how Granville and myself had to approach this latest episode of the podcast.

With our studio slot limited, we had to skinny things up and turn this one out double-time. Nonetheless, in 26-minutes, we touched on all the regulars, whilst scattering the silence in between with the usual sniping between the pair of us. It makes you wonder what we waste the other twenty minutes on every week.

Not to worry. Enjoy what you can of this little taster and look ahead to next week’s full-fat return, when we’re planning a new feature and a new voice.

Grab this fast-food snack via this link, or stream the quick chat via the player below….

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Hope a lot of the games in the North are called off. Noticed that most of my games this GW are in London and on South Coast (SOT). Could be quite profitable if the right games are called off.

If you plan to transfer Podolski out after the DGW the price rise tonight will have no impact on you since he almost certainly won't rise again and his selling price be be whatever you buy him for,

Therefore I urge people to save that transfer and save it to deal with the snow!

Save it tonight and wait and see if you still want to get him in tomorrow/Saturday morning with all the games that are called off.

I will definetely not be keeping him for after the DGW so I might as well just wait...feels kind of silly to let a price rise go, but it could be valuable. Cheers, both.

Not sure about John Cross myself. He's used twitter rumours before when desperate, I'm sure he got involved with the whole Sneijder to QPR farce.

Wenger said he 'hopes' for it to be done before the weekend, so will look forward to that conference eagerly.

Not feeling Podolski love. Epic failure in my opinion. He's 60 minute man and out wide. Trouble is i'd bring Bale back a week later, kind of wasted transfer. Although top of the mini league does have Santi so cancels out i suppose.

My reasoning for preferring Giroud over pod. The way I see it, giroud is more of a high risk = high potential reward pick.

Also, it helps with the walcott (c). If giroud doesn’t play, then walcott will play up front = good news, if giroud does play then he has more points potential than pod = good news

i would say pod is medium risk, medium reward, but giroud is high risk, high reward. makes it less simple.

Don't think he offers more assist potential than Gibbs at all. Have you watched the recent matches? Gibbs in the form of his life. Sagna is a seasoned professional and always capable of providing a good assist but at the moment Gibbs' form is class while Sagna is shaky after such a long layoff and perhaps his head not being in the right place.

At 5.1m he is great value, but Gibbs at 5.6m is value too.

          Yeah, agree with all that.

I only meant according to the stats in the members site here - they have Sagna as marginally better on the assist potential than Gibbs over the last few games.

That said, if I'm getting either this week, then it's Gibbs! 🙂

Gibbs is worth the extra cash.

Sagna has been playing terrible, his crosses rarely beat the first man whilst Gibbs crosses are more dangerous and he get's into the box from time to time quite well.

Reckon it's worth pulling the trigger on either

            a) Ba -> Pod, or
            b) Azpil -> Gibbs

8 goals and 8 assists this season in just 1,000 minutes. Would be foolish not to captain him with 2 matches. He averages 6.1 points per game, same as Suarez.

Only twinge of concern is consideration of how bad Newcastle was on that day. With only 1,000 minutes, one huge day can really boost your ppg

Hit the post, hit Danny Graham's chest, missed a sitter.

But over 2 games you'd expect him to convert at least 1 chance, it'd be foolish to not captain him.

How often will they play? If they are benched 80% - 90% of the time go with the cheapest possible to free up funds - GUTHRIE for Reading is just 4.1m.

If you have to rotate them with another cheap player like Puncheon / etc. then probably Sterling for the time being though Sturridge complicates matters.

Nope, he'd be purely bench fodder, but I think I can afford the .2 extra in marveaux over Guthrie to justify it. Thanks for rotation though process though, makes sense.

Yes if bench fodder go with the cheaper. By the way Guthrie playing in the hole for Reading and Marveaux MAY be at risk with Cabaye returning - so really a toss up.

Neither. The main thing that marveaux has going for him is price, so disregarding that he becomes a bad pick. Sterling will likely be rotated A LOT from now on in.

Snow and ice = scary times in FPL.

    GW18 .....2010/2011 season.

The Saturday morning was chaos on FFS. Games were being called off from around 9am onwards, although 2 matches were also called off after the deadline too. I remember being on constant text alerts with my brother-in-law, who lives in Newcastle as I really needed Andy Carroll to play.

I ended up taking an 8 point hit that morning and both players ended up not playing!

My GW score was 19 points but even that gave me a GW rank of 669,783. 😯

People with Tin Cahill emergency-captain were the big winners of the day (there was no VC back then).

I lost my mini-league that morning.

    Be warned. Danger. Danger. Danger.

To Ibracadabra. According to the 5 live podcast I was listening to last night, Reading have also signed a zambian centre back. Apparently african young player of the year or somehting like that. I don't have a link so not sure how true that is

Interesting I have not heard of him but "young player of the year" makes me thing a relegation battle in England isn't probably what he's used to and that he is perhaps just a squad addition or a future prospect. If he was a full international 25-30 years old that'd be another story.

Price changes in 5 mins and hovering over a Berb > Podolski transfer.

    Sticking point being possible cancellations.

Breaking it down I think I can go ahead with it. The city game seems more at risk, and is one day earlier, so worst case scenario I may be swapping a 0 game guy for a 1 game guy.

If I go through with it... guaranteed profit if city game called off. Reasonable profit chance even if 1 arsenal game called off. 0.1 gained for wildcard.

If I don't, 0.1 missed for wildcard and same tortured thought process on Friday night as I'm unsure if information will come out by then. City game is Saturday and at the very latest they could call it off early Saturday morning. Arsenal game is Sunday, ditto.

      Classic FFS overthinking 🙂

When I'm caught in a dilemma like yours, I always think of my ML rivals tucked up in bed with there blankie and teddy.

I wouldn't do it, btw. I sucked up a price fall last night on Torres (don't ask) just to be safe. I'll get rid of him Sat AM when we know more.
