The ScoutCast – Episode One Hundred And Three – Armband

The double Gameweek dominates episode 103 of the ScoutCast, providing a timely antidote a pitiful weekend of points scoring that saw even the great and good struggle. While your hosts hardly fit into that category, Granville and I dust ourselves down to rinse through the double Gameweek options, popping in on the Professor to get the “Rate My Team” viewpoint, before Jonty crashes the party to serve up another community themed conclusion.

This time around, Jonty brings a tale of armband woe: a Fantasy manager who misses the captain target with frustrating regularity. Whilst that manager’s luck should offer cheer, Jonty is also armed with a plethora of captain statistics that come courtesy of a former “Full Jonty” victim. Those particular revelations have me staring into the eyes of a certain Dutchman and wondering where it all went wrong.

Be captain sensible and grab this latest episode via this link or stream it via the player below.

*Apologies for the downgrade in sound balance this week – we had some technical issues which basically meant I forgot to restart the recording half way through and so had to use a lower quality recording mix. A balls up: it won’t happen again (that’s probably a complete lie – it’s bound to happen again).

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

One minute I think it's a great idea, next I'm not sure. Or I am for my similar dilemma:

      Lambert/Mata to Berbs/Walcott for - 8pts.

So difficult to call. Last year I brought in Fellaini, Pienaar and Walker for a DGW and totally cleaned up.

I have had Noble(15) climbing off the bench in one of the early weeks, so sometimes it is good to have potential scoring players on the bench.

Well I've got a wildcard I think makes sense. I've given up on my dream of Kagawa and decided to double down on the United defense, any thoughts before I put this wasted week of my life behind me?

I think it's very good. I got Anichebe in myself for the simple reason that he has DGW and can become Kone in GW36.

Silva might be injured and in that case I would put walcott in for him and do Giroud->Berba like Yanky suggests. I would rather have Zabaleta than Nasty tbh

On my WC. Which do you prefer? Both 0.0 in bank.

    A)
    De Gea* Robles^
    Baines* Sagna* Demel* (Dawson^) (Turner)
    Cazorla* Fellaini* Silva^ Gerrard (Maloney^)
    RVP* Berbatov* Giroud*

    B)
    De Gea* Robles^
    Baines* Sagna* Nastasic^ (Dawson^) (Wilson)
    Cazorla* Fellaini* Toure^ Gervinho* (Maloney^)
    RVP* Berbatov* Suarez

    Both 8 DGW33 and A) 4 B) 5 DGW36

My thoughts for A) Big risk without Suarez as he may go crazy against Reading. Not sure if Gerrard is a good enough cover but Suarez is 1.1mil more expensive and on 9 yellow cards.

My thoughts for B) Gervinho is a risk but given Arsenal current form, I believe Wenger wouldn't mingle too much to the team. Only problem about Gervinho is that his game time will definitely be affected down the road. Also, if Suarez gets a booking against Reading, he will be out for 2 games. Would much prefer to do RVP > Aguero in GW35 to free up funds for Bale and Vertonghen.

        Good point.

I could do Gerrard, Turner and Demel to Coutinho, Nasty and Azpilicueta.

        De Gea* Robles^
        Baines* Sagna* Nastasic^* (Dawson^) (Azpilicueta^)
        Cazorla* Fellaini* Silva^ Coutinho (Maloney^)
        RVP* Berbatov* Giroud*

Not sure how nailed on is Nasty and Azpilicueta though? But this will give me a potential 10 DGW36 with a -4 point hit.

Evra looks a good shout for 2 clean sheets but Baines has that exciting attacking potential. There is also the risk of Buttner getting a game or two before the end of the season over Evra. I'd say Baines.

Shiii, I literally have no idea what to do

    Begovic
    Clichy, Zabs, Nasty
    Santi, Fell, Sissoko, Michu
    Lambert, Suarez, RVP

    Bench: Bunn, Jenkinson, Maloney, Harte

    1FT

The only thing I can think of is Bego out for DDG. What else can I do?! Surely I need to do something with Michu but apart from Walcott I can't imagine anybody else doing too well...I could just play Maloney and get 2 points or do you think Walcott -4 will score more? :/

Hard to drop Lambert or Suarez considering their form/fixture. I take it you want to hold Michu through his blank? Sissoko hasn't been doing much, get a DGW midfielder for him (punt on Kagawa maybe). A move with Jenkinson is also good as you don't really want to rely on Maloney coming off your bench away to City. Rafael or Sagna are good options.

Yeah Sissoko is another one I was considering, I hope he doesn't do well this week if I get rid...I think if Walcott is passed fit I will get him in for Michu and then even if he starts on the bench on the weekend he could come on and score.

Can Shaylan Givens do that do that? Transfer in and out and then decide to play the wildcard. I thought that you had to play the wildcard first and then play about with your team. Surely if he plays his wildcard now he will still lose the points previous.

I have never done it that way.
I was sure that last year, I had transferred 2 in for a four point hit and then decided bollocks, I will play my wildcard. I still lost the hit points that week.

Been bitten so bad by demel this season that i'm too shy to get him in now.. then i look at WHM's recent upturn in form, the double and 3 home games till season end and i think maybe i should go down that path again
