The ScoutCast – Episode 109 – Two Men

No thrills. Few spills. Just two men in a room talking about Fantasy Football.

Granville and I handed Jonty and the “Professor” an extended pre-season and rolled the ScoutCast back to its rawest form. Just myself and the Mancunian sharing our thoughts after a summer break and looking forward to another Fantasy campaign.

We talk double Gameweek assets, I roll out the van Persie duvet, Granville reveals more than he should about his team lineup and, around all that, we assess the early bandwagons and preview the weekend fixtures.

Forty-five minutes of two blokes talking about the stuff that’s rattling around in most of our heads right now.

Was originally going with Benteke and was completely stuck on what 4.5mill 5th midfielder to get.

Now tempted to get Tonev, Sturridge and bench HBA (fixtures prime are week 2)

What do you think?

    For all Lambert's talking up of Tonev's, he's a young lad fresh from the polish league going straight into a DGW with 2 of the strongest teams in England. He may take time to settle whereas if Villa are going to score from anywhere, it's more likely to be from Benteke than anywhere else.
    
    Mind you, like Hubert I have them both! Too much heart, not enough head is my problem.
    
    After GW3 I suspect I'll keep Tonev as a regular cut-price mid option, but I certainly don't expect him to deliver in GW1.

  I think the Liverpool attack and Arsenal defense can dissapoint, it is not like Stoke lost any of their top defenders and Arsenal are without Arteta and Sagna(probably)

I don't think he is a bad pick at all. Yes, he is unlikely to get 180 minutes. But he might get 120+, and a home game v Villa and 30 minutes against Hull is tempting, should it go like that.

  Have not seen him in many rat's. Ive got a feeling this could be a perfect example of ffs crowd over thinking things. He's in about 25% of teams (mostly casuals pprobably) and would it be really that surprising if he runs riot?

  Walcott a doubt to play and think can do better than Nolan. Garrido did well last year but think he will be a roation risk this season and Collins also a rotation/injury risk.

Dunno if this has been posted, from West Ham press conference (re: Collins "injury"):

SA: "There's no injury news from our team at the moment. It's the first time in my management career that I've gone through a pre-season without a single injury. We've had knocks, but no player has had to miss a game because of injury throughout the entire summer, so I hope that continues all the way through to next May!"

Quick question. Asked earlier; not much feedback!

A) How much of a rotation risk is Zabaleta? Start the season with him (NEW, car, HUL, sto) or Koscielny (AVL, ful, TOT, sun)?

B) Best 4.5 defender from GW 2 onwards barring SOT.

Is Szcesny + 4m more risky than Mig + 4m because of Fabianski being more likely to get a game. I'd like the Arsenal man as the cheapest route into Ars and Liv (Toure) coverage at the back.

Is it stupid to keep 2M in the bank and start with Nolan instead of Coutinho or Silva? I want Sturridge over Coutinho, and I think I'd rather double up at the back (with Toure + Mig) than with their attack.

    I can just envision hits if I got nothing in the bank... Benteke/Lukaku are in an awkward price range if you want Aguero or Soldado for instance.

  The general consensus is that he's better than Koren and equal to Kim, I have gone for Kim simply because he has a better fixture in GW3 and so offers me more flexibility regarding transferring out CHE players.

    I think Oscar will take the position behind the striker. Maybe not for 180 mins but can see him getting gametime in both games.
    
    I'd go a CHE defender if I could guarantee minutes, and don't want Cole, he's too safe a pick with little pay off.
