FFS UEFA Beach Soccer Tournament 2013

Gameweek 8 sees the launch of the latest team competition for the Fantasy Football Scout community organised by FFS UEFA. Following the success of last season’s ICC-themed cricket tournament, the group have created FFS Beach Soccer World Cup 2013, with 16 teams, each comprised of 11 players, competing for the crown.

If you’re new to the concept and are wondering just what all the chatter has been about, here’s a link to their site which will help explain matters in a little more detail.

Essentially, the scoring is based around the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game.

Each team started scouting for players (ie, FPL managers) on Sunday, October 6 and the recruitment period will come to a close on Wednesday, October 16, with the roster of team players announced on Thursday, October 17.

The teams are led by a captain and vice-captain and guided by a manager, who decide which seven of their 11 players to field each week – depending on the perceived prospects of their FPL line-ups -and which four to bench. Their overall FPL scores for the Gameweek, with hits taken into account, will form the team’s score that week – by outscoring their opponents, they chalk up a win.

The first match in Gameweek 8 will be no more than a friendly before the main event gets underway the following weekend. This sees the 16 teams compete in four groups of four between Gameweek 9 and 11 – the top two teams from each group will progress to the knockout stages, where sides square up in a head-to-head elimination process from Gameweek 12 until the final in Gameweek 15. For anyone looking for further information on how the tournament works, click here for extra details.

Over the past few days, the tournament has become a popular topic on our site as the recruitment drive gets underway. As a result, we have created this article to keep discussion on the tournament to one particular place – we’ll ensure the article is kept featured at the top of the homepage, thus making it easier to find for those already involved or looking to do so.

Good luck to all those taking part.

If Boom boom's counting is accurate from above (I'm sure it is 🙂 ) then this is the situation

    Iran

    Dawson, Zabaleta x 3, McAuley, Ridgewell, , Januzaj x 2, Rooney x 6

    Team Ivory Coast

67+ Evra, Evans, Vlaar, Sessegnon, Benteke x 3, Aguero

It's almost correct, I did it earlier and also included guaranteed points off the bench, so your lead will actually be +58 not +67, it will be a gargantuan task and unfortunately I'll be cheering on Rooney tomorrow, If we pull it back it will be the greatest comeback in FPL history 😉

      Well done.

If Rooney has a big game, double figure haul then that takes out the gap straight away, but it's pretty much all relying on him for Iran to win.
A City clean sheet and Benteke blank would be handy too 😉

Well, there's a report that RVP hasn't travelled and won't feature. It's a GOAL exclusive, so time will tell.

Not sure if that is good or bad news for Rooney owners.

They are also reporting that Vidic won't be risked.

Good thing for sure. Penalties and corners from the right too. Larger portion of the smaller pie should still mean Rooney should benefit.

Including bench points its currently El Salvador 309 - Spain 290

    Remaining diffs

El Salavdor: Guzan, Burner, Nasty, Amalifitano(2), Rooney(4)

Spain: Ferdinand, Zaba(3), Vert(2), Walker, Vlaar, Nasri, Yaya(2), Bacuna, Benteke(2), Aguero, RVP

Appearance points alone can make up 14 points for Spain. Could really do with both City and Spurs conceding and the City mids staying quiet.

    t20 finals day.
Alongside soaring temperatures this summer we've witnessed t20 cricket at its absolute best. We are now down to the last 4 teams and the heat is really on. Welcome to Finals Day.

This summer has been an absolute scorcher, the hottest on record since 1976. Well we've seen some stunning t20 cricket this year and it's the first time Finals Day has come to Edgbaston. 4 top quality teams vying to be crown Friends Life t20 champions.

It is the most important day on the domestic calendar all the action live from 3. The players are here and ready to go, T.W is so important for Cardiff leads his side. Thomass has been absolutely outstanding as he blitz them into Finals Day beating West Brom.

Now the glamorous arrival of the commentators, all dressed up for summer and and all dressed up for the beach. Very nice ENR, here comes SuperOscarBabyy who was resplendent in his shirt, nice shades Milanista and he's here G-G-Granville has braved the voice of twenty-twenty has made it.

Looks like 5 points in it in terms of live scores after USA get 12 points from the Evra goal... then Solomon Islands get the 15 for Rooney's assist and it's 13 points the other way. Doesn't quite add up I know but it seems neck and neck every time I check.

Early call as vlaar may yet score the winner in a tight 1-0 villa win and out score our 4 WBA players by the required 5pts which could still do it for the USA...but a big congratulations to my Solomon island team mates on another great performance.

Condolences to the USA, barring the vlaar miracle, who were worthy opponents and do not deserve to go out after a performance like that.

I guess we have to lose the dark horses tag now and start being considered a genuine chance

Once subs come on the gap narrows to 4 so there are still plenty of scenarios that can lead to a US victory. Still, I'd rather not have my season riding on Ron Vlaar.

Killing the whole team is a bit of an overreaction, imho.

Since the 4 remaining teams will play the maximum number of games, the top scorer for the tourney will obviously be from one of these sides.

So members of the 4 remaining sides:

      - Ivory Coast
      - Soloman Islands
      - El Savador
      - Brazil

Join the "Race to Golden Boot" League. (Only GW 9-15 scores considered)

Good simple idea. I've let the managers know, so they can share the league code with their team members.

It isn't ideal as we aren't able to account for if the player was benched or not. But that's going to be cumbersome to go back and figure out every matchday.

        Thanks Nate and TM.

We at the Solomon Islands have that data, but only for us. Also averages for starting 7, the bench and overall scores. Next week it will only be 2 teams you need it for, unless a semi-final loser started every game up to then and all finalists missed a game. I think that would be the proper MVP.

I think it will be not too hard for each team to submit their own MVP's totals. At worst the manager would have sent emails saying who started each week. It wouldn't be much more work totalling up their 11 as it is to work out the differentials for a gameweek.

There's plenty of time to do it and have the final players know what they need to do to win. As I said before though, starting scores should be what count towards it.

That's true. I was just thinking that whoever tops the FPL based league won't necessarily be the overall winner...but we could select MVPs in addition, so I don't suppose it's a problem.

              All good fun anyway 🙂

      The Spanish Armarda was sunk.....

Misplaced player loyalties, disgraceful referee's, poor squad selection, too many sambruca's, fornicating with the wags of the Tahiti squad, bull fighting but ultimately it was the chaffing of the extremely small Thong, which whilst proudly presented our Spanish package, it did restrict our movement.

The can be no excuse, the performance of the Matadors was simply not to the required high standard and each of the Spanish squad does a little courtesy to our El Salvador counterparts, who we wish the very best of luck in the finals of the BSWC.

We will continue to lurk, hoping for a sniff of those Brazilian beach babes. As the famous quote goes we will "F*** them on the beaches" and true to those words we will go out with a BANG!
