Suspensions

The Suspension Tightrope – Galling

A couple of Frenchman are set for a short stint on the sidelines after falling foul of the referee’s wrath over the weekend’s fixtures. Mathieu Debuchy and Mathieu Flamini received their fifth yellow cards of the campaign, meaning both are set to serve a one-match suspension in Gameweek 12:

Debuchy’s caution in Newcastle’s 1-0 win at White Hart Lane will force him out of the upcoming home game against Norwich as Alan Pardew’s side go in search of a third successive clean sheet. The right-back’s absence is a real blow to the Tyneside team – he has played every minute of the season so far, though the versatile Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa could deputise, allowing fit-again Fabricio Coloccini the chance to slot in alongside Mike Williamson in the heart of the backline.

Flamini has certainly show a flair for racking up the cards since returning to the Emirates this summer. The holding midfielder has received five cautions in just 511 minutes’ game time – his absence for the upcoming visit of Southampton should see Aaron Ramsey shift back into the double-pivot alongside Mikel Arteta, after the Welshman was moved to the right flank once again away to United yesterday.

The Suspension Tightrope welcomed a number of new faces in the Gameweek gone by. West Brom duo Jonas Olsson and Claudio Yacob, Hull’s defensive rock Curtis Davies, Fulham’s Scott Parker, Chelsea right-back Branislav Ivanovic and Norwich’s Michael Turner all climbed aboard on Saturday. Sunday’s matches saw Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere, Spurs centre-half Michael Dawson, City’s Javi Garcia, United utility man Phil Jones, Stoke centre-half Robert Huth, Swansea pair Chico and Angel Rangel and Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko also earn their fourth bookings of the season.

Only four clubs – Liverpool, Cardiff, Palace and Southampton – are not represented in the updated widget on your sidebar, which now heaves under the weight of 23 players.

In terms of ongoing suspensions, Sunderland pair Andreas Dossena and Lee Cattermole will sit out the second of a three-match ban in the upcoming round of matches– both will be available for the Gameweek 14 visit of Chelsea. Swansea stopper Michel Vorm makes a return after serving a one-match ban in Sunday’s 3-3 draw with Stoke.

Bony because Laudrup finally believes in him in time for their great run of fixtures. Newcastle will regress, typical of their players to be up for the big games then put in terrible performances in subsequent weeks.

this is a long term decision though, going in to christmas period with the best team possible when the schedule is being very hectic means a hit is not very disturbing. Also, haz and remy both being heavily backed and price rises whereas barkley surely will drop even further. Roo is a good captain choice this week though

Remy won't get slung in jail on the 21st, he just finds out then if he's being charged or not.

He's been on bail since May, so surely he'll carry on playing until his trial, if there is one.

Well surely it's innocent until proven guilty, particularly since he is strenuously denying the charge. And he can't be found guilty until there's a trial, and that's not suddenly going to happen on the 21st.

It will be a while before he's unable to play, if at all.

Assists have a lot to do with decision making, but certainly not all. What % do we eliminate from set pieces for example? Having a good cross does not make a good decision.

But why at all do we eliminate set pieces here? How many times have you seen GJ crossing and Liverpool scoring. Good cross is definitely decision making, whatever you do on field, it is decision making. Yes GJ gets upfront quite a lot, but look at Baines, he comes forward, crosses, and the success rate of them is quite high.

Yeah just been looking at an article about him on EPL. I think the potential is there alright in fairness, although I do remember saying that too last yr. He did only complete 1 cross out of 7 but besides that created 3 chances and got the ball an obscene amount. Plus he's pressing and break up play looked class. Potential there imo.

been reading up on all the chronicle articles of the last week or 2. ameobi and sissoko getting lots of praise, even in an easier home game i'd be worried about HBA coming straight back. it's a bit of a pickle if you're in as of course if he starts you want him

I hate these kind of dilemmas.. Pardew might not change a winning team, but he could use HBA in games like this where they should attack more than against Chelsea and Tottenham.

there was one potentially interesting quote from pardew saying gouffran scores better away from home than at home. other than that there was very little to cling onto. i cant even see coloccini forcing his way into the side yet so am worried for HBA, had this gw earmarked to buy him back

Looking at rooneys mins to points last season its impressive despite not being at his best

2014 mins all season = aprox 22.5 games

    12 goals and 10 assists

    143 poimts

So the key is staying injury free and staying at his current level if he does both i can see wazza gettong well over 200 fpl points this season.

...on the other hand, I know my Rémy. He is quality, real quality, it was idiotic from Marseille to push him out. It's not he who is the question. For me the question really is Lukaku. And Stu. I don't really know if it's about the time to sell them.

Panicky, time pressured Saturday night transfer to avoid price drops on silva & paulihNo

Feel I have screwed up in signing Januzhai (benched then united put in best performance of season) and Arnutovic (subbed on 53 mins , as according to Hughes "could not get into the game"

I went cheap to leave some cash to get Theo and upgrade to a united striker in a couple of weeks

    Ive screwed up haven't I ???

I dunno, you may be alright.
I know nothing about Arnu but in tern of Januzaj,we all knew Januzaj would get benched on occasion, for his price that's acceptable.

Seems to be some consensus on here that he will get benched for tougher games, and play the easier teams...

True, and did think he'd be benched for Arsenal

Just the improved performance scares me ...although midfield did nothing creative but cancel Arsenal...which should not be needed v the lower teams

Yes, I got Arnie in last week and ditched him tonight having realised I screwed up! I should have got JWP or Morrison the first time around and saved the transfer (and money)!

People captaining Aguero. What are you expecting? I know Man City are beasts at home but Tottenham are no slouches defensively and AVB will be well aware of City's home form. I predict a 1-0 or 2-0 win at the most for City?
