Scout Notes – Gameweek 15 – Monday

Michu recovers from injury and manages the full 90 minutes in Swansea’s home draw against Hull. Chico nets for the hosts but is set to miss out miss weekend through suspension, Michel Vorm is likely to require knee surgery, while Robbie Brady warms the Tigers bench as Danny Graham opens his account for the season against his former club:

Michu Back in the Mix
The Spaniard made a surprise return to action last night, having been expected to be sidelined until mid-December. Pre-match, his manager admitted Michu was not yet 100% but still managed to give him the full 90 minutes in the 1-1 draw – given his lack of match-sharpness, his blank against the Tigers was perhaps understandable but it now means he has failed to score in each of his last six league starts for the Swans. Now down to a mere 6% ownership in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) and coming in at 8.5, some may still be tempted, but a look at the fixture ticker indicates Swansea have it far from easy over the next few matches – Everton, Chelsea, City, United and Spurs in the next seven suggests last season’s Fantasy phenomenon may well toil to get amongst the goals anytime soon.

Earlier in the day, reports had suggested Wilfried Bony was set to make an appearance from the bench after also recovering quickly from a hamstring injury but Michael Laudrup admitted after the match he’s likely to be a little cautious with the Ivorian:

“Bony is a little better, but we have to be careful because we are talking about a muscle injury. With a muscle injury, if you come back one day too early, you could have a setback and be out for four weeks. We don’t want that.”

Defensive Setbacks for Swans
With three clean sheets in their previous four at the Liberty, a shut-out looked a strong possibility for Swansea last night. Michel Vorm missed out again through an ongoing knee problem, allowing Gerhard Tremmel another chance between the sticks and, whilst the visitors’ early goal killed off the prospects off defensive returns, Chico’s owners were treated to a nine-point haul after the centre-half finally delivered the goal his attacking statistics have hinted at all season. The Spaniard picked up his fifth yellow card of the season late on, however, meaning he will now miss the weekend trip to Norwich. Ashley Williams moved onto the Suspension Tightrope after collecting his fourth booking of the campaign, whilst Laudrup admitted his goalkeeper is likely to require an operation to rectify his problem, though he’s yet to decide when this will take place:

“Michel’s knee is swollen, and he has had a scan today. He can go on, but I think at some point we will have to make a decision at a certain point that he needs surgery. We’re not talking a long period of absence – maybe four or five weeks, maybe a little less.”

Shelvey in the Points Again
Tucked in behind Michu as the most advanced central midfielder, the former Liverpool man supplied the assist for Chico’s equaliser to continue his impressive recent showings. Shelvey has begun to return attacking points at a fairly consistent rate now and has produced the goods in all but one of the last five Gameweeks – with two goals, three assists and three bonus points over that run, he was snapped up by over 161,000 Fantasy managers heading into the weekend deadline and, while his owners will be happy to hold in light of last night’s display, the above-mentioned schedule may be enough to deter many for now.

Brady Benched as Graham Returns to Haunt Swans
While the headlines surrounded Danny Graham’s early opener against his former club, a first goal of the season for the 5.0 priced forward is hardly going to attract Fantasy managers’ attentions. Instead, the omission of Robbie Brady from the Hull XI will have caused plenty consternation to the patient managers who have kept faith in the midfielder over the last few weeks. With Steve Bruce handing Maynor Figueroa the left wing-back role, Brady remained on the visitors’ bench for the entire 90 minutes of the 1-1 draw and now seems to have fallen out of favour due to a lack of form. Owned by 8.7% FPL managers (Liam Rosenior is the second most popular outfield player for Hull with 3.5%), the Republic of Ireland international has now failed to produce any points since Gameweek 6 and now looks set to be offloaded by plenty in light of last night’s non-appearance.

I don't but I checked how Howard got his cards and they were all for dissent or timewasting. I'm willing to bet (hope!! hope!!) that in the interest of not letting another GK into his spot, he will control himself.

Trying again with different format: Trade Remy+Coutinho -> Rooney+Sterling for -4? Noone in the top of my ML has Rooney so good differential could be worth it? Would give me: Howard (4m) Coleman Terry Chester (Vlaar Gabbidon) Walcott Hazard Shelvey Sterling (Ramsey) Aguero Suarez Rooney this week?

And 1m in bank for Vlaar -> Koscielny later

Techie question: Looking for the best (cheap) alternative to Apple TV. Already have Apple TV on main tele, but want a another for kids tv. All I really want on it is youtube and netflix. Heard on the radio there was a really cheap one, that does this and it's just like a memory stick, but didn't catch the name of it. Anyone know what I might be on about?

Does anyone seriously think United will finish outside top 4?

They keep slipping up and look a little lost but these things are never long-term.

United's B team beat Pool in October and they dealt with Arsenal- as they always do.

They will get it together and I can't see a tough game in the next 5, whereas the other big teams are playing each other.

My theory is that Old Red Nose thought, if this Moyes appointment comes off everyone will say I am a genius because I chose him, and if it doesn't everyone will say I am a genius because the same team won the league when I was in charge.

    Rant :
For me and anyone that knows me I have been unreserved in saying long before this ' bad run ' that David Moyes should never have been given this position.
Losing the back room staff was appalling especially Mike Phelan in a handover but to appoint not only Moyes and then his ' rookie ' assistant - Phil Neville was a calamity waiting to happen .
This current standing of Manchester United is simply not good enough and the Glaziers do not have the wherewithal to steer us out of it , I genuinely fear the worst and recall the dark days of Ron Atkinson and those early Saf years

That's the problem ain't it ? - he's a good manager not a great one and the days of man Utd having time to rebuild are long gone not with the money Sky and the Sheiks etc have bought.
We are one of the top names in the world in anything not to mention Sport .
Transition ? Why does one of the biggest clubs in the world need time for transition ?
Simply not good enough , saf has some blame here , the Glaziers have blame here , Moyes has blame here , it's horrendous - do we want to oh down the same road as Liverpool ?
NO the rot needs to stop , I'd sack Moyes right here right now his results and nothing else warrants it .
Why haven't we attracted the likes of Hazzard /mata/ Aguero / Suarez / Fabregas in the last fee seasons ?
The glaziers continue to put personal gain before the club and Ferguson was a yes man for them.
Someone would want to wake up soon and smell the coffee.

        Wherewithal: definition Punk.
If you have the wherewithal to do something, it means you've got what you need to make it happen.
Another word for wherewithal is resources, which can mean money, energy, support, or some other necessary means. If you have the wherewithal to build a new house, it can mean you have the knowledge and patience to do it yourself, or that you've got the money to pay someone to build it for you. The word combines where and withal — a now-obscure word that means "in addition." Don't forget to spell it with only one l.

Why did you answer your own question...

but in case these are two questions....

When will Ramsey fall in a heap? Never. He will continue to deliver until seasons end.

        Shawcross is too expensive.

Combine the two however, and there will be problems. They cannot play in the same team, so do not put them together in your fantasy team.

What are Ozil and Ramsey owners doing for their next two tough games, benching one of them or selling one of them?

Guys..I am looking to bring in Silva for Gerrard, but i am a .1 short.
My only option is to downgrade Vlar for a 4.4 m defender,Who is the best option?

After reading the picking differentials hot topic i decided to look who the differentials worth buying are in every position. This is what i came up with-

In brackets is the ownership percentage

    Premium Defenders (5.4m+) Other Defenders (5.4m -)
    Koscielny (6.0%), Gibbs (3.3%) Jenkinson (1.4%)
    A.Cole (3.5%), Cahill (4.9%) Vlaar (4.5%)
    Skrtel (1.5%) Burner (4.5%)
    Kompany (3.5%), Demichelis (0.1%) Azpilicueta (1.5%)
    Rafael (0.4%), Vidic (5.5%) Ward (1.9%)
    McAuley (3%) Distin (7.5%)
    Williamson (0.3%)
    B.Davies (2.4%)
    Olsson (0.8%)
    Tomkins (0.3%)

    Midfielders -
    Santi (2.1%), Theo (3.7%)
    Mata (3.8%)
    Bannan (0.9%)
    Pienaar (1.8%)
    Kacaniklic (0.1%)
    Coutinho (5.5%)
    Nasri (6.2%)
    Valencia (1.0%)
    Redmond (2.3%)
    Michu (6.2%)

    Forwards -
    Berbatov (3.2%)
    Sagbo (1.1%)
    Negredo (6.3%)
    Gouffran (1.4%)
    Osvaldo (0.2%)
    Long (2.4%)
    Soldado (6.3%)

I have only included those who I felt would be worth punting on.
Any nice picks among these guys?
