Fantasy Football Scout Cup VIII – Fifth Round Draw

We’ve reached the Fifth Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup, sponsored by Paddy Power, this weekend, and are on the lookout for a new face to lift the silverware after our two remaining previous winners, Goonerdave and sleepingmaster, were both eliminated:

Pryston North End FC and Albany City were the respective victors and will now take on Team Hayemaker and ec3dm over Gameweek 17. We’re also keeping an eye on Hillbillypete – having knocked out current champion Wild Rover, he continue to remain in with a shout of the silverware and is up against site regular The Sarjeant in the Fifth Round.

Our site moderator, Applebonkers, is also in the hat and is something of an underdog for the weekend, with his opponent BJ sitting just inside the top 5,000. Tony Hibbert’s Love Child is the top-ranked manager in this week’s draw – sitting in 570th overall, he now squares up to Nepalock.

Looking at some of the site regulars, Malcolm Tucker for England manager is up against 11 Men in Flight, Tommy Tynan’s Left Shin Pad will pit his wits against TOMDN, while 2ndMan is up against mickey30101985 for a place in the last 32.

As always, we name-check the highest scoring manager from the previous round. Both Michu at De Gea Bar and Andy Paps achieved this accolade, with 97 points apiece, and will now go head-to-head with Son of Rambo and dino_dem next time around.

The lowest-scoring team to advance to the Fifth Round belongs to Mr T. He’ll be hoping to improve upon a score of 63 points as he prepares to do battle with heco87.

If you want a full update on how the ties played out in the previous round, click here. Otherwise, click here for the Fifth Round details.

Once again, good luck to those still in with a shout.

Do you really back them for enough clean sheets to justify their prices?

Their inconsistency would frustrate me hugely.

But then I own Terry and Walker, who are both more expensive and less likely to get cleanies, so you probably shouldn't listen to me as i can't follow my own advice 😛

    Howard
    Mert - Chester - Coleman

    Suarez - Lukaku - Negredo

    Lewis; Ravel, Burner, Clyne

yeah I'm leaning Wally as well..obviously not a first-choice Chelsea def out there, but they're leaky and a lively Walcott with Ozil threading passes could tear them to pieces..he's done it before when they were on better form and Arsenal wasn't..

I own Terry too & I want to get rid but then I look at the defenders points & he's 4th on 71 points. Chelsea not getting cs but Terry still doing ok. I might keep. Last week I sold Skrtel (kept Mignolet) & got Jagielka because Liv weren't keeping cs. So what happens. Liverpool keep a cs & Skrtel scores 6. Everton concede & Jags scores 2. You just never know.

Ravel and West Ham have no stats to backup their goal potential. Liverpool defence is equally rubbish CS wise and at least Whitts can get points without even playing well (set pieces or PK).

Shelvey at home probably won't score 4pt less than Nasri away. Why so keen to ship him?

Dzeko essential. Negredo out of the picture. Confirmed.

He deserves more games. I remember pre-season Pelle saying Dzeko was his main striker!

No chance he'll start alongside Negredo this w/e?

An average is the result obtained by adding several quantities together and then dividing this total by the number of quantities

Biggest fear as a Spurs fan is that Dawson continues to start. He is awful against any team with quality.
Chiriches and Vertonghen should be the CB pairing.

I think he is used as a convient scapegoat. The keeper has been poor to say the least. The high line AVB set them up to play last game, made defending effectively, impossible. The same was been said of Merts last season when Arsenal played a high line. Worth remembering how impressive Spurs cs record was for some time, Dawson played in all of these. If the players around you ain't doing their job, the best cb on the planet will look ordinary. Chelsea concede every game yet Terrys standards are not critised in the same manner.
