Dugout Discussion

The Dugout Discussion – Monday

An all-London affair at the Emirates brings the curtain down on Gameweek 17 this evening. Plenty of Fantasy favourites are on show as the Gunners look for the win that would extend their lead to four points over the chasing pack:

For the hosts, Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil are the main protagonists for Fantasy managers, whilst Theo Walcott will be looking to maintain the form that saw him score twice at the Etihad last weekend.

Jose Mourinho’s side roll up on the back of a poor form of form on the road. The Blues have been beaten in three of their last four away games in all competitions but know that a victory will draw them level with the Gunners on 36 points. Eden Hazard will be desperate to have his say before Fantasy managers turn our attentions to the Gameweek 18 fixtures on Boxing Day.

The team news sees the hosts make four changes from the side that lost 6-3 at City last time around. Kieran Gibbs and Thomas Vermaelen are drafted in for Nacho Monreal and Laurent Koscielny at the back, with the Frenchman sidelined due to a knee wound. Mikel Arteta partners Aaron Ramsey in the double-pivot, with Mathieu Flamini dropping out, whilst Tomas Rosicky gets the nod on the left, replacing the suspended Jack Wilshere. Lukas Podolski warms the Gunners bench along with the likes of Santi Cazorla.

The Blues make three alterations from the XI that edged past Palace. Gary Cahill replaces David Luiz in defence, whilst John Obi Mikel and Frank Lampard are drafted into midfield – Michael Essien drops out through suspension while Juan Mata takes his place on the bench, allowing Ramires to move onto the right of the attacking midfield three. Oscar, Andre Schurrle and Samuel Eto’o are also amongst the subs, with Fernando Torres leading the line again.

Once again, we’ve opened the Dugout Discussion chatroom for those partial to some real-time reaction.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

          I'm in Tokyo. Basically here Xmas it's like another Valentine's Day, except with deep fried chicken. Celebrated with some fellow Scandinavians yesterday, and now it's off to work as normal on Xmas Eve and Day.

          Happy Xmas 2u anyway 🙂

      After Xmas & WC league are just leagues starting from a certain GW like GW18 for After Xmas. Millionaire Club is GW rank based. All rules can be found on the site.

    Ok so my 3 players last night gave me a total of 6 points.. thanks a bunch...

    Really not sure what to do with my transfer this week and would appreciate help.

    I have Tekkers and he is going for sure the question is to whom.

    I choose one of Giroud / Lukaku / Remy..

    I am not overly keen on any of these but I suppose Lukaku is pick of them

    Alternatively I could take a punt on Ade..

    Thoughts?

    Scores vs:

    City = 2
    Eve = 1

    Scores vs:

    Car = 18

      Hull have a good defence at home. Currently have it on Lukaku which is risky considering the latest blank. Hazard is another option who plays well against weaker opposition, and Suarez is the safe option seen is how most people will have him captained

      Walcott had one of those games of his where you wonder if he bothered. No shots, hardly touched the ball, didn't get make himself available to receive a pass. Ramsey at least could have had an assist if Giroud had finished and had much more of the ball in the final third.

          That's the thing. Ramsey had a bad passing game, but at least he tried and failed. This was one of those games where Walcott didn't even seem to try. He has too many of those.

          Oh and there were no good chances today. Statistically 1 for Chelsea and 2 for Arsenal.

      Good to go, like the (c) call. Any info on whether Welbeck is fit?

      It's between Rooney Suarez and Walcott for me, but United and Rooney are in form and I have a gut feeling Pello will try to keep it tight against Liverpool.

      Form over fixtures, Suarez would be a certainty. I would still pick him over the others, esp with Lukaku blanking at the mo. City still leaking goals, so I'd expect Suarez to still find himself among the Rooney might be worth it, but could be playing deep again and so far Hull are the only team to keep Suarez out, so they might just do the same with United.

      C) or D) for me

      Suarez is in incredible form, but City are beasts at home. I think Lukaku at home to a SUN defence potentially missing both first choice CBs and Rooney having all set pieces both have higher ceilings than Suarez this week.

    More people still own Ramsey than own Suarez. That's incredible, even factoring in the difficulty or bringing Suarez into your team at his cost.

        Hits have a really bad rep on here, but as long as it's a hit for an injured player or a massive upgrade, i think a -4 is warranted. Ozil & Sess > Silva and Walcott for a hit worked this week (12-5) - 4 hit = 3 point gain. Small gain but still, can't always expect a +20point swing! 🙂

    I'm considering to have Bardsley / Burner rotation from Jan WC onwards.

    They have best home fixtures throughout.

    Or they're too bad defensively you guys reckon?
