Dugout Discussion

The Dugout Discussion – Monday

An all-London affair at the Emirates brings the curtain down on Gameweek 17 this evening. Plenty of Fantasy favourites are on show as the Gunners look for the win that would extend their lead to four points over the chasing pack:

For the hosts, Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil are the main protagonists for Fantasy managers, whilst Theo Walcott will be looking to maintain the form that saw him score twice at the Etihad last weekend.

Jose Mourinho’s side roll up on the back of a poor form of form on the road. The Blues have been beaten in three of their last four away games in all competitions but know that a victory will draw them level with the Gunners on 36 points. Eden Hazard will be desperate to have his say before Fantasy managers turn our attentions to the Gameweek 18 fixtures on Boxing Day.

The team news sees the hosts make four changes from the side that lost 6-3 at City last time around. Kieran Gibbs and Thomas Vermaelen are drafted in for Nacho Monreal and Laurent Koscielny at the back, with the Frenchman sidelined due to a knee wound. Mikel Arteta partners Aaron Ramsey in the double-pivot, with Mathieu Flamini dropping out, whilst Tomas Rosicky gets the nod on the left, replacing the suspended Jack Wilshere. Lukas Podolski warms the Gunners bench along with the likes of Santi Cazorla.

The Blues make three alterations from the XI that edged past Palace. Gary Cahill replaces David Luiz in defence, whilst John Obi Mikel and Frank Lampard are drafted into midfield – Michael Essien drops out through suspension while Juan Mata takes his place on the bench, allowing Ramires to move onto the right of the attacking midfield three. Oscar, Andre Schurrle and Samuel Eto’o are also amongst the subs, with Fernando Torres leading the line again.

Once again, we’ve opened the Dugout Discussion chatroom for those partial to some real-time reaction.

I switch the armband to him Saturday lunchtime. I am also wondering if I'm mad. But you look at his gameweek scores of late and you can't help feeling there's a big haul on the way.

Home to Sunderland could be it ...

      No your not. If I was you(top 2.5k rank) I wouldn't though.

I've always said GW 18 & 19 is when the real opportunity arises to move up the rankings.

      Not 17.(as most have seen)

I'm not going Suarez this week. My overall rank is going nowhere at the moment and I've been yoyoing between 16k and 147k the last 6 weeks.

66pts to make up in ML.

luckily my middle name is tina.
lukaku is in hazard category for me, worth staying patient with as the scores will tally up overall but where and when the bigger explosions come is still a bit too hit and miss. it's safe and boring suarez may be the one.

and not even safe in the sense that it's a more guarenteed score, safe in the sense most others will be in that boat with you, you can just worry about what your other 10 men are up to.
we're rightly going nuts over suarez right now but his away record is a less mental 5 goals in 6 games. i predict 16 points every home game for him, 5-9 here

on paper no. people will point to spurs always but that game was quite clearly an exception.
it's essentially man city playing a back 4 of boyata, demichelis, javi garcia, clichy, all in a really high line, and with 10 men for the last half hour

Last week the call was to tattoo the armband on Suarez. Getting itchy fingers and thinking of shifting it to Rooney or Lukaku.

Rooney - Pros: consistent form away from home. Team and himself on form. If welbeck out he will be shifted higher. Cons: if welbeck plays he will be in deep position

Lukaku - Pros: Beast. Only striker. Team on form. Fixture is good, with patched up CDs. Cons: Bad recent form, selfish midfielders

    Thoughts?

πŸ˜† there is some logic in that. I really don't see the game being high scoring but I didn't see City v Arsenal, City v Tottenham and Tottenham v Liverpool being high scoring. I did see Arsenal vs Chelsea being high scoring.

F me. What do I know. Suarez(c) it is.

Hull are pretty solid at home...

      Lukaku hasn't done much recently.

City don't shut up shot in the way that Chelsea do, and with Liverpools colander defence 'Pool might need to score a few...

      fine. borderline sexy even.
i'd be tempted to play away day specialist ramsey over ozil as amongst other things i think ozil smells of bench wood this gw, but i'm not brave enough to say so, so i'll just say so in a confusing manner where you're not really sure if i mean it or not but if ramsey does better i can still claim it and visa versa despite actually sitting on the fence scared by ozil's price

    Currently:

    Krul / Pantilimon
    Coleman / Dawson / Santon / A Williams / B Turner
    Hazard / Coutinho / Ramsey / Januzaj / Morrison
    Suarez / Rooney Lukaku
    £4.6 free

For this last stretch starting on Boxing Day leading up to the January WC, I'd like to pick up a third Everton player and get in to Arsenal's defense and Man City's attack, while ridding myself of Ashley Williams and upgrading one or both of Coutinho and Morrison. So…

(in a series of moves spanning 2 or 3 gws)

    A) Pantilimon / Williams / Coutinho > Howard / Mertesacker / Yaya (+£1.2)
    B) Pantilimon / Williams / Coutinho > Szczesny / Baines / Silva (+£0.6)
    C) Krul / Williams / Coutinho > Szczesny / Baines / Yaya (+£0.1)
    D) Krul / Williams / Coutinho / Morrison > Szczesny / Jagielka / Yaya / Henderson (£0.0)
    E) Krul / Williams / Coutinho / Morrison > Howard / Mertesacker / Silva / Henderson (+£0.3)

I think I'm leaning towards either A or E at the moment.
