Dugout Discussion

The Dugout Discussion – Monday

An all-London affair at the Emirates brings the curtain down on Gameweek 17 this evening. Plenty of Fantasy favourites are on show as the Gunners look for the win that would extend their lead to four points over the chasing pack:

For the hosts, Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil are the main protagonists for Fantasy managers, whilst Theo Walcott will be looking to maintain the form that saw him score twice at the Etihad last weekend.

Jose Mourinho’s side roll up on the back of a poor form of form on the road. The Blues have been beaten in three of their last four away games in all competitions but know that a victory will draw them level with the Gunners on 36 points. Eden Hazard will be desperate to have his say before Fantasy managers turn our attentions to the Gameweek 18 fixtures on Boxing Day.

The team news sees the hosts make four changes from the side that lost 6-3 at City last time around. Kieran Gibbs and Thomas Vermaelen are drafted in for Nacho Monreal and Laurent Koscielny at the back, with the Frenchman sidelined due to a knee wound. Mikel Arteta partners Aaron Ramsey in the double-pivot, with Mathieu Flamini dropping out, whilst Tomas Rosicky gets the nod on the left, replacing the suspended Jack Wilshere. Lukas Podolski warms the Gunners bench along with the likes of Santi Cazorla.

The Blues make three alterations from the XI that edged past Palace. Gary Cahill replaces David Luiz in defence, whilst John Obi Mikel and Frank Lampard are drafted into midfield – Michael Essien drops out through suspension while Juan Mata takes his place on the bench, allowing Ramires to move onto the right of the attacking midfield three. Oscar, Andre Schurrle and Samuel Eto’o are also amongst the subs, with Fernando Torres leading the line again.

Once again, we’ve opened the Dugout Discussion chatroom for those partial to some real-time reaction.

    I can only do this move today given Walcott's and Mannone's price rise and Vidic's price drop tonight.

    Is it worth it for 8 pts? I have 2 FTs.

    Arnatauvic -> Silva
    Ozil -> Walcott
    Vidic -> Williamson
    Mignolet -> Mannone

      I would say no, -8 seems steep when any of the transfers out could score well

      I disagree with the lads a little here , that's a lot of deadwood he needs to sort his team and can leave his jan Wc till later then ,
      Can you keep Ozil and make it a -4 ?

      I went for Silva last week just cause I had Ramsey as Arsenal cover, and I thought going without City attack any week can backfire. Depends on who you've got.

    Hey guys, I need some help as I am no longer first in my ML after yesterday. My team currently is;

    Gazzaniga
    Distin/Coleman/Vlaar
    Ramsey/Ozil/Coutinho/Januzaj
    Suarez/Rooney/Lukaku
    Subs:xx/Lovren/Rosenior/Kasami

    I have 4m ITB and a FT. I am thinking about Coutinho>Hazard/Toure/Silva. What are your thoughts? And I am absolutely clueless who to captain, any suggestions?

      Depends who your rivals got out of those three, im chasing too at the moment so have hazard, silva and walcott now to my rivals yaya, lallana and shelvey! Cant undertsand how he keeps pulling away from me though!

      Think silva wld be the best bet if ur rival has yaya

        My rival has hazard so I guess that option is out. I might go for Silva or Toure then. I am also considering captaining Toure since my front three is the same as his and there might be a chance Toure outscores Suarez Probably not but Saurez won't score twice or more against City at the Etihad?

                    He has scored 3,1,2,3 vs MAN/EVE/City/Ars.

      More goals at the front and back me thinks. That might not nessessarily be bad for them but at least scoring should give them confidence.
      Lamela, Adebayor and Soldado are probably the ones to get.

        Adeba's a very good shout. Though I don't think I'd be able to give up any of Suarez, Rooney or Lukaku for him. Maybe Lukaku, but I even he has some decent fixtures.

    Team linked 2FTs

    Consdering Shelvey, Clyne or Sterling out, who would be the best options?

    I was thinking Shelvey - Whittingham or Clyne - Williamson

    Januzaj looks promising but really worried about his gametime

    Do you reckon having double MU forwards will work - Suarez, Rooney, Welbeck. (Remy out, Rooney in). Thanks.

      Depends on the fact if you expect them to score a lot of goals.

      Personally I would not go that way.

      I think Remy out, Rooney in will work. Wouldn't keep Welbeck for long but I guess he can stay until the wildcard.

    Merry christmas everyone!

    Now, a little christmas problem, Walcott in? I really don't think he will start, but the fear of him tearing West Ham apart is almost bigger.. Will play Coutinho or Januzaj instead if i don't transfer him in.
    Then again i also have Ramsey, so may gamble on benching him and putting Walcott on the pitch, one of them surely have to warm the bench?

        He played 90minutes last night, just have a feeling he will be one of the players rested. Only way i can see both playing is if both Arteta and Rosicky gets rested for next match. Surely Cazorla will start at least, Podolski too, but maybe he'll play up top..

      For me:

      1 - a
      2 - b

      Hard choice the 2nd one, both have excellent fixtures but attacking points edge it for me.

      Mertesacker and Coleman have wonderful fixtures, so might be the better idea.

      Cabaye's fixtures turn bad after a while....

      And Walcott well another good choice could actually work looking at your team.

    Apologies if this has already been discussed, however I've only just seen the news from last night regarding Spurs. Is Adebayor going to be an essential asset in the coming weeks given the faith that Sherwood obviously has in him?

        Indeed, fixtures are tempting for both - next four is:

        Adebayor - WBA, STO, mun ,CPL

        Lukaku - SUN, SOU, sto, NOR

          I rate Adebayor higher tbh. Unless Lukaku pulls his sh*t togheter!
          To be fair to Lukaku, he probably would have had at least one goal last match if it wasn't for their midfielders not being able to pass!
