The ScoutCast – Episode 124 – Fizz

There’s very little fizzing away within Granville’s Fantasy lineup right now but, while the Mancunian can justifiable lament his stagnant squad, I’m having to console myself with the smallest of victories – namely a sniveling 9-point Gameweek victory. Get some perspective, Granville.

That’s not the reasoning behind this weeks moniker, however, as once again it’s the questions from the community that inspires the title of another ScoutCast episode. Rounding off with the usual interrogation from you, the listener, we start by dropping in on the regulars, whilst reviewing the ins and outs of the transfer window and touching on the Carroll’s flailing arm and Chelsea’s shackling of City.

Make Your Mind up via this link or get a Piece of the Action* via the handy player below.

*Admittedly I had to look this one up. Not even my knowledge of awful 80’s pop could stretch that far.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Rooney or Mata for the armband?

I put it early on Mata. My thoughts at the time was Rooney possibly playing deep, and Mata having great assist potential. I have no way of getting RVP at this point.

    Hazard is my current VC.

    Tossing and turning here ;/

Should I ditch Studge for Dzeko and play front three of Dzeko-RVP and Suarez? and then week after go RVP->Sturridge, BUT give away -4 for extra transfer in midfield.

My point is, I was planning to save my transfer this gw which will allow me to get rid of Shelvey comes gw 26 wihout any hits and yes the other transfer I am looking at is RVP->Dzeko to free up some funds to be able to ditch Shelvey in the first place.

Hope it's as understandable to you as it is to me 😆

    Currently on

    Szczesny
    Coleman Ward Shaw Terry
    Yaya Hazard Lallana
    Sturridge RVP Suarez

Subs: Davis - Shelvey, RavMo - Chester

Evra def will, I think he's already made the noises..and Rio is finished really at that level. Vidic has been a liability, great player still on his day but you can't keep chopping and changing CB's all the time to fit around his never ending injuries. A back four needs to be as permanenet as possible imo (Everton/Arsenal)

TEAM ... 0.1 in the bank, 1 FT

    GK; Mannone (Boruc)
DEF: Shaw, Kolarov, Coleman (Koscielny, Chester)
MID: Eriksen, Johnson, Silva, Hazard (Januzaj)
    ATT: Giroud, Suarez, Sturridge

Coleman is worth 6.0 for me. What should I do?

There's form and then there's fantasy form. One of the things Ozil has been outstanding at is providing an outlet for the defenders to get the ball out of the defensive third. That may help the CBs earn passing bps but earns Ozil nada.

My main concerns with Suarez (c) this week: he has been dropping deep in a Rooney-like fashion over the last four weeks; his dropping deeper may be necessitated by a downturn in Pool's midfield play thanks in part to injuries; Arsenal dominated the midfield in their first meeting and Wenger has made no secret of his plan to try to do it again; this may once again force Suarez to drop deeper to link play yet again.

If he was that canny Suarez might actual get goals at a decent rate against top 10 teams. I think the fault there is not in Suarez but in the supporting cast.

Agree. If you're forced to choose between Suarez or Sturridge this week, I'd go for Sturridge C for the reasons you mention.
Hazard, RVP, Rooney, Mata or a City player all look viable options for C pick for this week.
It's good, as Suarez has been default choice for months now, stirs things up a bit.

I could easily see Liverpool's main threat being Sturridge slipping behind Arsenal's back 4 on chances created by Suarez. Net + 1 (plus bps) to Sturridge each time.

Daft reasoning to me. Arsenal has been bossing at mid but once Cout is dropped for Allen, Pool should be fine in that regard. You are painting the picture that Suarez is the new Rooney which is simply false. He has not and will never play in the CDM position.

He has had several fine opportunities at goal and has not finished last couple GWs. We are talking about Suarez not Giroud in case you got mixed up. He will come good.

This post is offensive. Get your wits about you and watch the actual games before you type such nonsense.

Positing that he is dropping back in a "Rooney-like fashion" reads to me that it is in a "CDM-fashion". I am sorry but that is how I read it. If that isn't what you meant then don't compare his positioning to Rooney. It is simply not accurate and they don't and have not had the same positioning all season long. Link play is a fair point but to think that BR will solve this by dropping #7 back as a midfielder is absurd. With Lucas out all he needs to do is put Allen in instead of Cout or Sterling and they will be able to assert themselves once again.

First Rooney has not been dropping back as a DM. I think that is exaggerated except in one instance when in game injuries forced Moyes' hand. Second, I can look at the position charts for each of their last four games and find little difference in their average position with the ball over those games. Any member here can confirm this. There's actually a recent article here that mentions Suarez' deeper positioning (albeit without comparison to Rooney). Finally Allen is no substitute for Lukas IMO.

I even think Suarez is the best player in the PL and have doubled up on Sturridge and Suarez. I'm just not sure he's right for the (c) this week.

Not sure if I should give my 2 cents for fear of being barked at, but I think it has something to do with Suarez being so prolific early on. Now defences are a lot more wary of him and he has to drop a bit deeper to get the ball and pass it on. Hence he seems to be getting more assists.

Could be, but I would think Sturridge's threat would negate some of the ability to focus on Suarez. I think the 2 up front formation starts at a disadvantage at controlling the midfield and injuries have added to the disadvantage. Pool's possession percentages have been dropping significantly since earlier in the season and I think the formation and injuries are the reason.

Possible that Young may be benched with the Arsenal game 3 days away in mind.

For me, I'd have to bench Eriksen or Giroud though, which isn't likely.

I didn't read the article (nor would it be honorable to disclose its contents if I did), but I think it all depends on which position is most replaceable right now. Lots of striker competition, whereas most midfields are looking for a saviour. I'd say Lallana, personally.

Everyone's a little too detached and callous for my tastes in house of cards -- we have to sympathize with someone, no?

I typed this and deleted it, but here it is: I binged-watched "Spaced" a few months ago and was upset there were no more than 2 seasons. I don't know its reputation/relevance in the UK, but as a comedy fan I sincerely enjoyed it. Its still callous and absurd, but in a way that you root for the characters.

    Evening all...

When you look at something for so long that it stops making any sense, it's time to ask for advice (like ending up in B&Q on Christmas Eve at 4pm and convincing yourself that your wife will just LOVE a new et of spanners....)

I have Sturridge and Suarez up front against Arsenal. I also have Giroud...

To play Giroud away at Liverpool or play Puncheon as a 5th mid at home against West Brom...?

    Help!!! 🙂
