The Dugout Discussion – Hull City v Manchester City

After last week’s reduced fixture list we are back to a full schedule of games for Gameweek 30. The action starts at the KC Stadium where Hull City square up to Manchester City, who will be looking to bounce back after their Champions League exit in midweek.

Today’s match is the first of three that City have in hand over their title rivals Chelsea and a victory is vital if they hope to catch Jose Mourinho’s charges. Going into the match just five points outside of the relegation zone, Steve Bruce’s Hull will be looking for a strong finish to the season to ensure they avoid being dragged into a relegation dog fight.

    Is 10 players playing for the games on 25th/26th for a 8 point hit worth doing? I think it's a decent trade-off but don't usually take 8 point hits.

      You have to analyse what the -4 and the -8 hits are for. Chance are if you are bringing in people like Nolan, AJ, Lukaku etc then it is going to be worth it but don't throw the baby out with the bathwater and get rid of Chelsea defenders just for a one-GW double.

          That doesn't sound worth it to me other than Rooney. Could you bring in Lukaku for Ade instead and therefore no need to downgrade elsewhere?

          Maybe just Fonte then you can come back into Soton's defence on a cheaper level.

            It's actually not a downgrade. I really fancy Hull for the DGW and will still have 4m in the bank. I will have to get Fonte back though.

              It's short-term though in that once you come out of the DGW you're left with Livermore in your team over Lallana. None of it looks terrible - when I look at how far outside the top 170 I would go on -8 points it's quite a deterrent.

                  Good luck for the GW. The feeling on here is always to take as many hits as necessary to get lots of DGW players out. I agree with that to some extent but there are 7 GWs to come after this and you have to think whether you want Livermore in your team rather than Lallana (looking at the fixtures too).

          I think Sterling is an awesome option since he affords you one of the others.

          My recommendation would be Sterling in, and then upgrade whoever else is not on a double to the best you can afford at City.
