The Fantasy Flutter with Paddy Power – Gameweek 35

In our weekly attempt to get the better of Paddy, we turn to three of the current top six ahead of favourable games against a trio of relegation candidates. Once again, we look to the Scout Picks for inspiration and place our faith in a couple of in-form midfielders and City’s fit-again talisman as Manuel Pellegrini’s side attempt to recover from their disappointing home draw with Sunderland.

We get underway at White Hart Lane on Saturday lunchtime, where Tottenham entertain London neighbours Fulham. Paddy are offering 6/1 on Christian Eriksen to score and Spurs to register a clean sheet. Given that the Dane has scored four times in as many matches, there’s every chance he’ll get amongst the goals against Felix Magath’s brittle backline – Spurs have been a little suspect at the back in recent matches but we’re happy to hand Paddy £3 of our kitty.

Next up, we target Liverpool’s trip to Carrow Road on Sunday afternoon as the visitors look for an eleventh successive victory. Paddy are offering 9/2 on Steven Gerrard to score and the Merseysiders to keep out their opponents. The Reds skipper has netted five times in his last four away games in a run that has seen Brendan Rodgers’ side deliver a couple of shut-outs and, with Norwich failing to score in each of their last three, we make this our favoured bet of the week and stick £4 on it.

Our final £3 is kept for Monday’s crucial clash at the Etihad. Having taken a single point from two matches in the previous Gameweek, City’s home game with West Brom is a must-win for Manuel Pellegrini’s charges. Paddy are willing to offer 9/2 on Sergio Aguero to score twice and City to keep out the Baggies. The Argentine has notched nine times in 10 home appearances this term and with City expected to attack from the first whistle to get their title bid back on track, we’re willing to part with our final £3 for this one.

Well we didnt think he will be ruled out against WBA in the first place and the fact that he has nearly been ruled out makes this matter a bit concerning!

Bit out of sorts, lads, could use a hand:

    Mannone
    Flanagan-Zabaleta-Baines-Azpi
    Eriksen(contemplating c, but v for now)-Mata-Gerrard-Mutch
    Lambert-Suarez(c)

    Ruddy-Lukaku-Chester-Silva

Two transfers already done, bench is what I'm most concerned with. Maybe play Lukaku instead of Mutch?

Yeah, I'm shooting myself in the foot a bit playing both Baines and Mata, but I'm counting on Baines for spot kick and free kick duty. I'm putting Silva in for Mutch and Lukaku as the first off the bench in the likely event he doesn't play.

I feel the same way but Eriksen is on top form facing one of the worst defenses at home while Snoddy is out of form against a top team. An assist from Eriksen along with a CS point means you've already recuperated the points lost from the hit and I think he'll do better than just one assist

Definitely not Chester so that leaves Distin or AJ. Many are choosing to start out of their Everton defenders Baines or Coleman due to their attacking potential but Distin offers none of that though Everton have been in reasonably good defensive form of late. AJ has been a bit out of touch but he is definitely capable and attackers often have a good amount of upside though that might be somewhat limited against the stingiest defense in the league. Tough choice, I think Distin narrowly edges it.

Hi guys, ask for the biggest genuine favour. Had a bad time of it recently (close friend dying) and would really, really appreciate it if you could give some advice as i haven't had an awful lot of time to do my own research. Somehow i still have my wildcard and would like to know if it's worth using now or saving for GW37. Here is my team.

    Adrian, Mannone
    Azpi, Chambers, Vlaar, Ward, Coleman
    Silva, Puncheon, Mirallas, Yaya, Noone
    Suarez, Dzeko, Lukaku

If considering my injuries it's worth using now. Could you offer any advice on the kind of players i could be getting in? Currently 25 points behind my local money league leader. Please respond as i am going to bed now, will have very little sleep, off to work in 3 hours and will try to fit half hour in to do my team. I'll be back to myself of last season soon and offering as much advice as i used to (310th in the world last season, never outside top 6k.). As always, greatly appreciated and look forward to reading a decent amount of advice when i get up so i can figure something out to do quickly and get it out of the way. Thanks guys!

With SIlva, Yaya pretty much out, Ward doubtful and Mirallas not nailed I'd use it.

chambers game time is pretty suspect, so you might want to do chester.

if you dont mind, you could downgrade ward to dann and take the spare cash.

everton's fixtures arent the best, so you may want to consider leaving out coleman/lukaku/mirallas.
(perhaps take an arsenal defender in light of their better fixtures)

yaya is injured, so you might want to swop him out perhaps for mata in lieu of their dbl gw.

And of course, consider bringing in aguero, especially since dzeko's game time is pretty suspect.

Activate the WC. Not long left now. Pick your spine - CHE/MCI/MUN/ARS defenders all have good runs til the end of the season. Suarez and Aguero are pretty much must haves. Rooney will be popular next week too. Look at the fixtures and plan accordingly. Sorry to hear about your friend.

I think i'd activate the WC soon, when on it i'd get Aguero, Suarez and Rooney up front (though if you want a really explosive differential maybe keep some money in the bank for RVP). Get Nasri for sure in mid and perhaps Mata if the funds allow it and then a few good bargain buys like Ramsey/Sterling/Salah/Eriksen/Puncheon/even Amalfitano to fill the last few spots. This should let you stock up on defense where i'd get Ivanovic and Cahill as Chelsea defensive coverage and then Kosc and a City defender and fill out that last defense slot with a cheap DGWer such as Vlaar or Chester. Perhaps keep your keeper or if there is extra funds go for DDG over Adrian/Mannone. Hope this helps mate.

      Hi Guys

Is Haz > Mata / Gerrard worth -4 for this week?

      Rest of team is:

      Boruc / Mannone
      Coleman / Ward / Chester / Azpil / Cahill
      Silva / AJ / Haz / Ki / Eriksen
      Suarez / Kun / Luk

      Thanks

As much as I dislike points per game as a metric, Suarez averaged 11.4 ppg during the 8 matches Sturridge was injured in the middle of the season.

I'm guessing -4 is going to be the norm this week?

I'm lucky I had two frees. But am making a third transfer to -4 to leave front 8 of

      Silva mata eriksen puncheon Nasri
      Aguero lukaku Suarez

Will play silva over puncheon this week
      Next week lukaku to rooney

Don't think I have had such a bad midfield this season
      - barkley plays United and may not start
      - snoddy plays lpool but atleast at home
      - silva won't play
      - michu is not in form and may not start
      - AJ plays Chelsea away

      Have 1ft and 2.3m

Thinking of doing barkley to salah but wanted a dgw player. Can do lukaku to rooney? Or michu to mata? But michu has good fixtures

how's this look for my WC?

      mannone adrian
      cahill azpi smalling demel chester
      mata nasri eriksen ramsey sterling
      suarez aguero ade

with 3.6 in the bank which is enough to do Ade > Rooney next with with .1 to spare in case of a price change.

Not at all! I do think we can beat Palace to nil today quite comfortably. With Remy back and Pardew needing the points I think Newcastle will score. Chambers is prone to rotation with Clyne so I'd avoid.

Guys, need a bit of help. Following is my team

      Marshall (Howard)
      Cahill. Zaba. Skrtel (Ward. Coleman)
      Silva. Eriksen. Lalllana. Ramsey (Ki)
      Suarez. Lukaku. Aguero

      0 FT 1.4 ITB

I did Yaya to Silva earlier in the week but now with Silva almost ruled out should I take a -4 and get someone else in for Silva or just use one of my subs?

Coleman for his goal threat or for a clean sheet? Personally, I don't see Everton keeping a clean sheet against Man U. One of the guys I had in mind for Silva was Mata.

Everton kept a clean sheet at Old Trafford and against Arsenal recently so don't rule it out. Silva should be back next week so it's a bit of a waste of 4 points if you get him straight out again.

      A) Puncheon
      B) Eriksen -4

      D) Ramsey -4
      E) Alternately i could keep Puncheon this week and swap him out for a hit next week for Ramsey
