KPI Forward Analysis – Home and Away

We continue our series of articles for members focusing on the player Key Performance Indicators (KPI). This time around, we delve into the data to discover those forwards who favoured home comforts over 2013/14 and also assess the more consistent strikers who produced the same sort of attacking threat regardless of fixture.

For the unfamiliar, these Key Performers Indicator (KPI) tables are designed to use a series of key stats to allow our members to track form or change in player performance. By tracking the frequency of certain key statistics and comparing over two separate periods of time, we can ascertain each player’s form, whether it be an improvement or decrease in displays on the pitch. As mentioned in last summer’s introductory article, we’ve rolled out a preview movie which shows just how to get the best out of the KPI tables.

United will likely play 3 at the back, which is sketchy while they adapt to a new system. Besides, LVG has hardly kept many cleansheets for Holland, maybe because they don't have any big time defenders, but that question mark remains. Mariappa and Cameron are your men it seems like, then.

Ward and Pieters specifically; question marks over Marry and Cam starting.
Re. United - I'm factoring in their opening fixture schedule, plus noting the performances of their first choice defence in the friendlies - not too shabby so far.

Well then, I have done the same. Just enjoy discussing it. Shaw is in my team especially because the fixtures are so amazing. Cam will likely make it into my team, but maybe at the expense of a Palace defender, or Naylor perhaps (the guy has attacking intent).

Any of those more in the know about Geoff Cameron's 'nailed on-ness'? Seems Hughes prefers Huth and Shawcross in the centre and has brought in both Bardsley and Teixera. Is it possible he could be an out of position prospect in a defensive midfield position? Or best to look elsewhere?

theres a chance he plays in midfield if he doesnt play at RB. still too many question marks for me and i think for the start of the season its best to look elsewhere. players like neil taylor are nailed, which is the most important thing when picking a starting team

Don't think Teixera is a starter, but Bardsley may dislodge him from the back. Didn't Wilson step up to defensive midfield last season? I'm waiting to see if Cam and Wilson are battling for one spot, of whether Cam keeps his place at the back.

Cameron is definitely nailed on pal. Shawy and the Berlin wall will partner up in the centre and Bardsley's been bought for RB. Teixera is more one for the future. Cameron will be playing out of position in DMC as the only other options are a complacent N'Zonzi, an overlooked and underrated Whelan and a past it Wilson. You're welcome

None of your bench might play most weeks. If Mannone loses his place to Panty you're in trouble.

Your starters are fine but there's not a lot of reliable options off your bench at the moment if your starters don't start.

Green will be good for save points and Harry has set us up to be tight defensively. Ferds should have pace either side of him with Caulker and Onuoha.

Our problem, imo, isn't defence but midfield.

Harry has said that we need a number 10. Its unlikely to be Taarabt, who'll either go to one of the Milan clubs or end up playing on some sandlot in Dubai, and Granero looks like he's on his way to Sociedad.

Valbuena would be a huge player for us (oxymoron not intentional) if we could get him, but it could be Fer who plays that position for us if we sign him.

Valbuena would be monster, for sure. But with the squad you currently have, do you think it is any stronger than the one that took you down two years ago? IIRC pundits were tipping you for mid-table at the start of the 2012-13 season. The current squad doesn't look substantially better to me.

Austin is the main man and is nailed on. Plus he is on pens. I have him. Reminds me a lot of Rickie Lambert in terms of career progression.

On paper, defence should be fairly decent and there may be one more defensive addition to come.

Green is nailed on. Redknapp has already said that. Dunno what happens to Cesar but he won't start over Green.

The thing about FPL is no matter how good your team, even if you had 200m and picked the best possible team, theres no way of knowing exactly who if going to do well. A team full of superstars could flop while another full of no-hopers shines.

Basically, Rooney, Mata and Herrera only managed the 45 minutes in the game. Roma dominated for most of the 1st half. Mata and Herrera were pretty quiet. Got better after the water break. Rooney was a threat as per normal, Mata got better as we neared the half way mark. There really isn't much to say about Mata or Rooney besides the goals. Both were very well taken though. Not much to be taken from this game, other than the stuff we already know.
Roma dominated the better part of the 1st half, and in the spells of possession we got later in the 1st half, Mata and Rooney made the best of em.

Rooney looks pretty essential though, good pre season form, 2m cheaper than RVP. Possibility of RVP getting eased back in, meaning he will have penos for a bit.

Mata's prospects can only get better with RVP's return. I suppose there's a possibility that Rooney and RVP will just assist each other, but I don't think that's gonna happen. Think they will only help Mata's case.

Hopefully, the Inter game sheds more light than this one.

I think it looks good for Rooney and Mata. LVG wasn't impressed with 3-0 changing to 3-2, but that was no fault on the formation... just United failing to keep possession. The only thing perhaps stopping the 3-4-1-2 at the minute is the lack of depth in the centre/wing-back positions.

Currently though, with United's fixtures, I wouldn't be averse to a Rooney/Mata combo.

My defense lineup already have Davies, Wisdom(or any 4.0) and Shaw. GK: Foster/Kurl

Cant decide for third starting defender.

Stokes home games looks good, and with more defensive signings chance of them performing home better is likely. (at least till GW 12 ->AVL,LEI,NEW,SWA,WHU,BUR)

and best pairing will be swansea. But for sure start have to spend 10.0.

Or should I go for Debuchy plus a 4.0 or 4.5?

    The question is Debuchy + 4.0/4.5 OR Swansea(5.0) + Stoke(5.0)?

kind of agree with the front 7..i have austin+kun instead of dzeko+giroud though.

options like eriksen dejong tadic ramsey could offer us a cheaper alternative which is y i think this season is very interesting.

as for your team bruce dummett wisdom are all not nailed on..plus krul as a solo keeper. i would say downgrade luis to fund ur 4m def to 4.5s..if not sell ur midfield to fund it. having sanchez instead of ramsey would not compensate the loss of points in your defence for eg.

I have currently B...but believe that Sanchez is definately the one to own, just cannot find funds for that. Also worried how Hazard starts the season, will he be hot or cold? WC performance wasn't that stunning... Ok, easy fixtures for Chelsea to start with, so maybe it's wiser to start with B and to see how Sanchez and Fab fit into their teams?... I just cannot get it why Arsene let Fab to go Chelsea....
