A new beginning. On the eve of a new campaign, two grumpy middle-aged has-beens gather in a studio to recall the summer’s feast of football and look ahead to another Fantasy season, full of hope.

There’s no frills. No live video cast. No special guests. Just Granville and I, stripped back and almost unplugged.

Don’t let that put you off, though. Even with our limited powers we at least attempt to cut through the issues currently rattling around in the minds of Fantasy managers.

We assess the Old Trafford revolution, the world without Suarez and the merits of the three-man strike force. We slice through the current transfer trends and weigh up matters such as the Sigurdsson/Bojan rotation, Fagregas vs Hazard and the Chelsea back four conundrum. We also manage to warm up with a nice little argument about the Alexis Sanchez bandwagon – the traditional pre-season barney.

    Palace defence

    What do people think of Palace defence with Pulis news?

    Rotate ideally with QPR for third defender but doesn't look so appealing now.. Thoughts?

    any thougths on this, which i picked for a colleague... it's not quite a 'dead team', but it's one in which i don't expect the colleague to have loads of time & knowledge to make subs & especially transfer... hence me spending a bit more than i otherwise would do on GK & [three] defneders, at a noticable cost to the midfield & attack.

      If you're certain he's not playing, get rid. Highly owned, his value will drop like a stone. If you REALLY want him (questionable), get him when he's 4.2 in a few weeks.

    How many games are we expecting Chambers and
    Blackett to start? Personally I think Chambers should
    be good for 3 weeks atleast. Thoughts?

      Chambers will get 15-20 in all competitions. He'll start the first match and could be benched when Mertesacker returns for Everton. Don't think he'll feature much after that unless a Debuchy or a CB are unavailable again.

    Interesting stat on chelsea defenders last season (minutes per point):

    1st) Terry (point every 17.79 mins)
    2nd) Cahill (point every 17.85 mins)
    3rd) Ivanovic (point every 19.99 mins)
    4th) Azpi (point every 21.33 mins)

    Maybe proves Cahill is a safer option and scores near enough the same as terry!

      Tricky with Sky. I think they still have to be first choice who ever comes in, maybe even better if they're playing for their place in front of a new manager.
