Scout Notes

Scout Notes – Gameweek 1 – Sunday

Raheem Sterling grabs a goal and assist as Liverpool edge past Southampton. Daniel Sturridge is also amongst the goals as Nathaniel Clyne slams home the visitors’ consolation. Elsewhere, goals from David Silva and Sergio Aguero ensure champions City are off to a winning start with a 2-0 triumph at Newcastle.

Sterling the Star for Reds
A goal and assist from the youngster helped Liverpool to a narrow win over Southampton in the first game of the post-Luis Suarez era. Fielded on the left of a 4-2-3-1 formation, Sterling was second only to Aaron Ramsey for midfield ownership as the season got underway and, like the Welshman, has instantly found his form – with the maximum bonus also accrued, few will be deterred by back-to-back road trips to City and Spurs as new owners look set to come flooding in. A price rise over the week looks assured as Fantasy managers take advantage of the wide man’s current 8.5 price tag.

Sturridge the Match-Winner for Liverpool
Somewhat overshadowed by Sterling’s 13-point haul, the forward nonetheless rewarded his 30% of Fantasy Premier League owners with the Merseysiders’ second in a 2-1 triumph. While the Sterling bandwagon builds momentum, it’s debatable whether Sturridge’s non-owners will be swayed by those upcoming visits to the Etihad and White Hart Lane, with many penciling him in for Gameweek 4 as the schedule starts to smile a little more kindly.

Clyne Strike Offers Hope for Saints
The 5.0-priced right-back leapt onto Fantasy radars with the visitors’ consolation at Anfield. Many expected Ronald Koeman’s side to be on a hiding to nothing after many of last year’s key players left over the summer but Southampton’s performance certainly suggests they could be worthy of our consideration ahead of a very kind run of fixtures. New playmaker Dusan Tadic earned a smart assist for Clyne’s strike, and with midfielder James Ward-Prowse (5.0) handed a start on the right of the front three, there’s reason for Fantasy optimism amongst the St Mary’s outfit aghead of a schedule which affords six kind home games (WBA, NEW, QPR, SUN, STO, LEI) and trips to West Ham, Swansea and Hull in the next 10.

Aguero Seals it for City
Manuel Pellegrini started with Stevan Jovetic and Edin Dzeko up front at Newcastle but both were overshadowed by the fit-again Argentine in City’s 2-0 win. Emerging from the bench on 83 minutes, Aguero needed just seven minutes to find the net and remind us just how devastating a Fantasy force he can be.

With another week until the champions’ next league match against Liverpool, there’s every chance Aguero’s match sharpness will be up to scratch, allowing Pellegrini to start the diminutive frontman. His return immediately places concerns over Jovetic’s security of pitch time, though the Montenegro international turned in an impressive shift, with five attempts on goal and a trio of chances created for his team-mates at St James’ Park. With the likes of Sturridge, Wayne Rooney and Diego Costa so highly owned, Aguero looks a deadly differential in the premium forwards category and currently sits in just 4% of teams.

Silva Off the Mark
The City playmaker underlined the strength of options in the premium midfield bracket by grabbing the opener on Tyneside. Following strikes from Ramsey and Sterling, the Spaniard’s goal also brought him onto radars and offers hope that he could finally be set to overshadow the highly priced Yaya Toure in the City midfield. Like Aguero, Silva is also something of a differential (9%) but many will be understandably cautious here – we’ve no doubts over either’s potential but, as we’ve seen on all too many occasions in the past, whether the pair can string together a run of starts without injury is a little more than questionable.

    Bubz, same here.

Will keep atm and keep an eye on e.g. Gomis (fingers crossed).
Jovetic may as well come even for the last 9min and score a goal when opponent has to move forward. Reckon you didn't plan with him long term anyway.

Wasn't that impressed by his performance but didn't see Dzeko that much better as well yesterday. (And he got MotM).

I'm really not sure Gomis and Bony will work together, i feel that lone striker with the 2 pact wingers really enables the hole guy where as if with them two up front all of that is sacrificed for no gain IMO.

Can see Gomis doing well if Bony does eave though

Actually getting quite in to UFPL, think its a decent game. (Although I may be a bit biased as I had Siggy and Chester this week!)

Lots of chances to hit that £1000 points target although I doubt i'll get off to a better start than this week!

Yeah i think its a pretty boss side addition, a better prize spread would make it more interesting but it gives you more fantasy interest when watching them games at the weekend for sure.

I'm currently contemplating Nasri>Sterling for a free and then doing Sturridge>Aguero the week after to keep my City/Pool coverage.

    Good or bad moves?

I hear what you're saying and I know this is probably not the best time to bring him in due to the fixture but my thinking behind it was to avoid the price rise along with the fact that I don't mind parting ways with Nasri.

Poorly worded on my part, but there is quite a chance Bony gets sold by Swansea. If he stays in the prem and if he does whether he's a first choice then or not...remains to be seen.

Just saying though, like him a lot and wanted him to go to Dortmund this season... 😀

Can everyone just take a breath, calm down, it's been 9 games, the game week still isn't over.. Your side isn't that bad 🙂 hits are a probably OK early but outside of Siggy is there really a bandwagon worth jumping on?

I've got a crazy idea on low percentage ownership players and their higher % of ownership on here. If, you've got Arnautovic, think this, IF you do want to see what he can do with a really good set of fixtures up coming
    (GW2 Hull (A), GW4 Leicester (H), GW5 QPR (A), GW6 Newcastle (H) , GW7 Sunderland (A), GW8 Swansea (H), GW9 Southampton (A), GW10 West Ham (H) GW12 Burnley (H))

won't the other more "savvy" (in comparison to casuals) members of this site (and or forum) , think the same? now hear me out, Arnie has 2.5% ownership yet i saw him in a boat load of RMTs in the preseason. So if, we, the FFS community decide to keep, his price should be safe from the ravaging of casuals.

Now, here comes my debate for keeping him, He's selfish, arrogant and goal hungry, He played well, STOKE are an issue, Mark Hughes failed us, not Arnie (and also not Bojan though with his high ownership i doubt the FFS community could save his price) Arnie bombed over the middle and let go some decent long shots, he demands the ball, even with the intent of playing a cross, His attitude is such that if he's not involved he's not happy, so whilst he is on the outside he's still wanting to play the final ball in. His delivery was deceptively good, the problem was Diouf was almost always the only stoke player in the box.

Arnie is still an excellent pick and a FFS community pick and Scout pick. Give him time, show faith in your judgement and stick by your man. I feel like this is like the scene in gladiator where if you run off you get killed but, if you stay together you'll be survive.

So i urge you, use your Free transfer elsewhere.

Arnie is love, Arnie is life.

    The team:

    Krul | Elliot
    Cahill | Chambers | Coloccini / Chester / Gamboa
    Hazard | Ramsey | Eriksen | Sigurdsson | Marney
    Rooney | Costa | Giroud

    0.0M

    Decisions:

    A) Giroud --> Bony, as per my original plan.
    B) Swap chambers for a 4.5, even though Wenger is raving about him.
    c) Save the trannie.
    D) Something completely different.

    THOUGHTS?

      I would consider A or C.

Keep Chambers for now, Newcastle and Hull have reasonable fixtures so you have decent cover should he not play. Giroud didn't start, again, so maybe his price will begin to decline. If that is the case, I would look to Bony given Swansea's upcoming fixtures. The only con to that move is that in 2 weeks the transfer window closes and Bony might be at a new team, so you would then need to re-transfer your transfer,

    1) This week: Mata > Sterling

I wouldn't want a Villa defender as a key player right now. Plus, wait and see what Hazard does tonight before determining whether to transfer him in.

Mata to Sterling is in my transfer plans, so I would select option 1. Though it must be said I don't plan on doing it this week (Man City and Spurs will not give Sterling the best chance of top points). Additionally, Lukaku has burned me too many times. Plus he didn't look great at the weekend, so I would go for option 1 but hold off until things become a little bit clearer
