What would be your priority here ? 0.5 to spend.... Has thought doing silva to Fabregas but that was before the arrival of di Maria et al making mata's position unclear

    Krul
    JT, Cahill, Naughton
    Ramsey, mata , Siggy, silva
    Rooney, Aguero, Fletcher

    Elliott , Marney, Moore, Bruce

On my WC. Mirallas vs Tadic is one of my biggest dilemma. Both have the share of set-pieces with Tadic presumably takes Penalties as well. Mirallas is more clinical in front of goal, hitting the form, plays more like a RF. Tadic so far had strong underlying stats so it may be just a matter of time. I'm liking both players' potential so thought about this new idea of integrating them in 3-5-2 set up. I know most of you think 3-4-3 is the way to go but I think 3-5-2 is a viable alternative for it. If it goes horribly wrong can always switch to 3-4-3 with just 2 transfers.

    Krul, Elliot
    Moreno, Jones, Clyne, Wilson, Moore
    Hazard, Sterling, Sigurdsson, Mirallas, Tadic
    Aguero, Costa

Good team for 3-5-2? Your thoughts?

    Cheers in advance. 🙂

Wouldn't be me personally, if I was playing 3-5-2 I'd put Naismith up top he's only the same price as a 5.5 def, Tadic and Mirallas? I ain't sure tbh but that change might as well bring you to a template 3-4-3 with Ramsey playing and I'm guessing your Grav won't let you get Fabregas and I feel strongly you will need a United mid/forward in there too.
Differant no doubt but will it get you a top 10k finish is the real q.

Mira will have liv and mun later... So Tadic is safe, Mira for more short term. Yes I would say that you need flexibility to change to 3-4-3 (even with cheap FW)

He is, but Yosh is 4m and you only have 4.9 with him. So Yosh will be on your bench with 0.3, not enough to upgrade him, hence you need to look t a playing 4m def (not 4.1 Hutton with his fixtures).

    Not FPL related.

Why have the formations using a Libero being abandoned by teams. Yes I know football should be an attractice attacking sport but defending is also part of the game.

Having a libero was the basis of catennacio. I have seen just Mourinho use it effectively. For those who don't know what a Libero is, it's a position that a player takes between the goalkeeper and laat line of defence. He plays the role a bit like sweeper and you can say is given a free role in defence. He has to cut out through balls or track runs of players behind the defence line.

It is not parking the bus but an effective tactic which can be used by less technically gifted teams to achieve good results. This is what won Italy the World cup and several champions league titles for the Italian clubs. And all their defenders are considered legends and not killers of football.

Hate to see genious tactics like see getting extinct in the modern game.

A lot of teams like to play the high line now. I'm not sure why this. I think it's for pressing the opposition. And therefore sweepers and a libero aren't used anymore.

      1. Sunny 😎
        • 11 Years
        9 years, 8 months ago

Teams try to play high line to compress the field of play for their opponents but clever players who play off the shoulders of defenders can easily beat the offside traps amd destroy teams like this.

Chelsea who have been superb so far hasn't played a high line, on the other hand AVB was one who loved high lines and look at what happened to his teams in premier league.

Another example can be taken of barca getting humiliated by Bayern. Bayern easily played through their high line

Dunno, could be. You needthe right personel to play it successfully of course. Pep's barca destroyed Utd in the CL finale - but had always difficulties with Chelsea (and Milan). Would be interesting to see!

Football is always evolving, they will go back to it one day. Tika taka is almost dead, the hoof up to the big centre forward died a decade ago. Maybe everyone will go 3-5-2 with wingbacks or maybe not... 😉

The modern day libero is kinda the 8/6 atm i guess. Moved in front of the defence to be more dense in midfield and due offside. Can't see it coming back the old school way except rules get changed.

After spending the whole week wonderin who to swap eriksen for ive decided to keep for sun and WBA. If he does well il get my money back n a good option. If he does badly I swap to tadic who im sure will start a bandwagon over the next few weeks. Now what to do with jovetic? Got a million in the bank and terry/debuchy as expendable money banks if reqd

go for welbz or ade imo...downgrading debuchy/terry won't give you enough to get studge/falcao/balo/kun/costa/rvp will it?

      1. Valar(Keith)

Debuchy downgrade gives me balo. Terry gives me falcao. Might just save my transfer this week and do the terry downgrade next week tbh

Keeping a spurs midfielder is the right choice. I had eriksen for 3 games it hurt. But they do well against poor sides.

You could go dzeko as he think he will be first choice and is still potent, has had a bad start though. Ade is still good. Or you could try welbeck.

I'm guessing you have naismith too and you're probably jealous of people bringing in Falcao/balo etc. But Adebayor can score as many as them in that spurs team.

        Krulliott
        Terry caulker debuchy chester hutton
        Eriksen sterling ramsey siggy Albrighton
        Costa rooney jovetic.

    Bego

    Ivan - Clyne - Hutton - Wisdom - 4.6

Di Maria - Ramsey - Sterling - Siggy - Marney

    Costa - Falcao - Welbeck

On WC, would you stick with this or go Aguero + Naismith instead of Falcao + Welbeck?

City have two tough games so could go with this and then make that change for GW6

Aguero+naismith. I don't understand all the 'he might get injured' stuff. If he does, just swap him.

The problem with Falcao is he doesnt get assists and key passes etc, he scores awesome goals but you don't get points for overhead kicks etc. He will always be down on bps even if he scores.

Triggerlips was ranting yesterday about the pricing system being broken spoiling the game but then his strategy on his WC was to save money by avoiding price drops and make money on double risers neither of which has happened so far.

yes it was all for to see that the Price Change system has been improvised from Day 1 , it was foolish to expect similar effects on the WC building team value like previous years

Is Arsenal likely to play Sanchez and Welbeck up front? Or will Sanchez return to his wide role?

I think Welbeck has been bought as a CF , Sanchez will probably go to wide left with Theo on the right

          So many options this year.
Where the hell I'll fit Theo..

Yep. sanchez can't play centre forward, well at least not yet. Wenger wants a striker there, he tried walcott and now sanchez, it doesn't work. Welbeck will be CF

      Arteta - Ramsey
      Walcott - Ozil - Sanchez
      Welbeck

I think Ivan is a season keeper either way.

the conventional wisdom is wait and monitor new players but Di Maria is soooooo tempting

Haven't been on here much so forgive me if this has already been answered, but are FISO and/or Total FPL fixed yet?

    Thanks.

Wonder how much that De Jong injury is going to hurt Newcastle? The only front 7 player they've had that scored so far is the kid Aaron's!

I think Cabella will be really useful but for another month he doesn't exactly have anyone to pass to who can finish

Yea I think so too.. But the 4.0 option for Leicester seems to love a yellow, taking away all baps.

        Might go with Burnley!

Burnley, had best defense in championship last season. The reason they got promoted

I currently have Krul - Elliot as my GK's. At what point would changing to a different 4.5/4.0 be beneficial? And to which combo?

you should've started with guzan / given, and now swap to krul / elliott.

not worth two transfers to swap out your keepers imo. only change on a WC

If you used it just to make money then you chose the wrong season to do it.

    Morning everyone..

    with my top 8:

    rambo-fabregas-siggy-sterling-lamela
    rooney-costa-fletcher

now i'm thinking 343 instead of 352, with which I started with,
    so should I go:

rooney, fletcher, lamela ------> aguero, welbeck, fodder

I can't find any other way to squeeze kun in..

Why not just lamela and fletcher out for 4.5 and welbeck?
