Versus – Eriksen, Lamela and Chadli

With the exception of a 3-0 drubbing at the hands of Liverpool, Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs have enjoyed an encouraging opening to their campaign. Seven goals in four matches makes their attacking options worthy of consideration, with the midfield trio of Christian Eriksen, Erik Lamela and Nacer Chadli hovering on our radars as potential acquisitions.

The 4-0 thrashing of QPR certainly brought Nacer Chadli firmly into the Fantasy frame as he bagged a brace and claimed 15 points. With Mauricio Pochettino seemingly promoting the Belgian international to the status of certain starter and with a Fantasy Premier League (FPL) price tag of just 6.1, the debate over Tottenham’s attacking trio seems cut and dry.

However, Christian Eriksen’s shift to a central role in the win over Sunderland and his bundled goal in the 2-2 draw reminded us that he’s a known quantity and a proven producer after a solid 132-point campaign last year. In addition, after a season on the sidelines, largely due to injury, Argentine starlet Lamela has shown flashes of the brilliance which have gone some way to explain why Spurs shelled out £30 million for his services last summer.

In this latest article for members, we analyse this trio of targets, sifting the data available to analyse their early-season form and assess whether Chadli’s emergence has put both Eriksen and the resurgent Lamela in the shade.

You look a little light up top to me. Welbeck looks a good player but for whatever reason doesn't score often enough, I'm not willing to gamble on him in a Arsenal side that's lacking form. Naismith is a good shout this week and can rotate with Zaha but I'd prefer to have 2/3 big hitters upfront who are fairly more fixture proof. If you are going to spend on your keeper I wouldn't bother having a 2nd keeper who plays, just get a 4.0 and bench him for the season. Also unsure about Rafael, I think his minutes will depend on which formation they play, rest of defence looks decent. Midfield looks good but I'd like to see Spurs in there somewhere whether that's Ade, Chadli or Eriksen.

I'm in the same boat, think I will be dumping JT this week. I also have Clyne, so Bertrand is out. I'm looking at Shawcross or Moreno since both teams have very favorable fixtures coming up. Arse is an option too. Maybe Kosc?

True, but Arsenal's defence has been woeful and 2 touch fixtures in next 3, so swapping terry is just going from one underperforming expensive def with poor fixtures to another underperforming expensive def with poor fixtures :-/

If you have Alderweireld and Duff, who would you play? Who is more likely to get a CS Soton away to Swansea or Burnley home to Sunderland?

If Sterling is benched again then is starting Naismith instead of him a better option? Can't accommodate Naismith anywhere else. :/

      sterling won't be benched

Pretty sure Rodgers won't be benching Sterling again anytime soon.

Then where can I put Naismith? Certainly not in for Chadli I reckon? :/

Hi all, long time. Thought I'd pool your expert knowledge. Can't see a reason not to bring in Neil Taylor - place looks assured right? Only Tiendalli for competition, and he's very second choice. Fernandez would take Amat's place I assume? Everyone happy with these assertions before I go for it or have I missed anything? Advice welcome!

this would make sense but for Clyne knack of getting attacking returns in away games

I've got a dilemna. I've got a great front 8, and a bunch of cheap defenders, and I'm always at a dilemna who to leave on the bench. But I like them all! If you were to sub out one of this lot, and replace with a cheaper option, who would you lose?

    Di María
    Ramsey
    Fábregas
    Schneiderlin

Crazy to captain Lamela? Everyone seems to think they'll destroy WBA, but Lamela has been frustrating so far in fantasy terms...

I'm not sure they'll turn West Brom over though, particularly after a long trip to Serbia. Id be a bit wary, even if he only did play half an hour.

Not crazy. It's a bit risky, but if you never take risks you never get the rewards. Darko's point about Serbia is a decent one, but I think I'm buying a ticket to the raffle.
