Dugout Discussion

The Dugout Discussion – Saturday

Without an early kick-off to see us through, our Dugout Discussion’s are reserved for the three-o’clock encounters and the tea-time treat at Villa Park. Once again European competitions have shifted some of the big guns to Sunday’s programme, leaving Saturday somewhat lacking in points potential.

Nonetheless, Man City’s visit to the midlands and Liverpool’s Anfield clash with a bouncing Baggies will be of major interest. Fantasy managers will be checking on Manuel Pellegrini’s side as their fixture list softens up, with Sergio Aguero’s credentials for our front lines under major scrutiny. On Merseyside, Raheem Sterling’s ability to plaster over the cracks of a stuttering Liverpool attack will be tested against a West Brom side boosted by a 4-0 drubbing of Burnley. Suddenly, this one looks far from a formality.

Elsewhere, Neil Warnock’s goal-getting Palace take on the obliging Hull defence on Humbershide, while the Leicester rearguard is the latest to be “tested” by Burnley’s shot-shy attack at the Walkers Stadium.

Sunderland look to break a run of stalemates when they entertain Stoke, while Swansea will be the latest side to attempt to edge Alan Pardew out of the door at St James Park. Fantasy managers will be expecting, and hoping, for no mercy for Gylfi Sigurdsson and his team-mates.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Kompany and Milner currently heading for the 3 Bonus Points.

Hope that makes all the Aguero owners who also own Kompany and Milner a bit happier 😉

Nice one. My childhood hero. Was there for the goal against Tranmere as a 10 year old. Only wish the cameras had been there.

      Here's another article about him.

Sounds a sad story, I'd never heard of him before which is maybe not surprising.
I reckon I mistook the old pic of him in hoops as Kenny D - oops, but maybe a backhanded compliment.

Aye, right, could be; hooped shirts and all. There wasn't much to cheer about as a Reading supporter in the 70s, but he was quite a sublime footballer.

In one match, Mark Lawrenson was marking him, and giving him a bit of a kicking by all accounts. Friday lost his rag and lashed out at Lawro and got a red card for his troubles. Friday marched off down the tunnel, broke into Brighton's changing rooms, and took a shit in Lawro's kit bag. 😀

😆 Haha, that is absolutely brilliant, I'd already warmed to the guy when I read he had kicked Lawrenson in the face during a game.

I would like Villa to take the ball over to the corner flag and keep it there for the next 35 minutes. Not too much to ask, surely?
