Suspensions

The Suspension Tightrope – Gameweek 7

Our Suspension Tightrope only kicked back into action last week but we’ve already seen a couple of players topple off after Gameweek 7 came to an end. Both Calum Chambers and Jonjo Shelvey went into the weekend with four yellows accrued and the pair were culpable yet again, earning their fifth domestic cautions to automatically trigger a one-match ban.

In an ill-tempered affair at Stamford Bridge, Chambers was a little fortunate not to receive his marching orders after Martin Atkinson chose not to dish out a second yellow for a foul on Andre Schurrle. Indeed, although the whistler booked seven players in the 2-0 win, the likes of Laurent Koscielny, Gary Cahill and Danny Welbeck were also shown a little leniency, and received a caution when a dismissal could just as easily have been the outcome. Welbeck owners will particularly be relieved after his wild lunge on Cesc Fabregas was only deemed worthy of a yellow.

Chambers – who has now been booked six times in just eight appearances for the Gunners – misses the Gameweek 8 home encounter against Hull but will return in time for the following week’s trip to Sunderland.

Shelvey will skip the Swans’ trip to Stoke next time around before coming back into contention for the Gameweek 9 home clash against Leicester. Team-mate Angel Rangel is available now, though, after serving his own one-match suspension against Newcastle on Saturday afternoon.

The duo join Wayne Rooney on the sidelines, then, as the United skipper serves the second of a three-match suspension away to West Brom. Rooney also misses a home match with Chelsea before being available in time for the Gameweek 10 Manchester derby at the Etihad.

Back to the Tightrope and Chambers’ team-mate Jack Wilshere is now the only player currently sitting with four cautions to his name. Just below him, though, are band of 10 players which include a trio of big-hitting Fantasy prospects, in the form of Diego Costa, Yaya Toure and Graziano Pelle.

A lot of people are citing it as the authority on the new system , but to be honest I think its more to to with the fact its just new to most people and was relatively unknown until recently .

To be fair it is ever so marginally the best of the 3 but by no means a definitive code cracker yet. Fiso is still just as good.

None of the big 3 are anywhere near right, FISO closest but FantasyFootballFix.com is surprisingly correct! (On rises anyway, not sure about fallers yet, havent checked that)

Go to the fantasy site (fantasy.premierleague.com) and go the points tab where you can see your last weeks points.

In the address bar will be a 1-7 digit code, the url should look like this

http://fantasy.premierleague.com/entry/xxxxx/event-history/7/ where xxxxx is your code

        It isn't marginal.

totalFPL is rubbish for price changes this season

fiso isn't bad for price rises, but fplstatistics is significantly better.

Has anyone else here tried fantasyfootballfix.com? You seem to be the only one recommending it.

For those of us who don't use a mobile phone browser, fplstatistics is definitely the best of the Main 3.

A lot of the FPL community I speak with on Twitter use the site. Ill tell you who will rise tonight at about 10pm GMT and we will see 🙂

Also harder to prove if there right, im not too sure on fallers, ill try put all the risers and High profile fallers on here.

Currently it states no one will rise tonight yet Costa is due in >2 days but that could change, looking at the fallers I dont think they have that right but risers, deffo

fplstatistics are also currently forecasting no risers tonight. Most of their recent forecasts for risers have been pretty accurate, although they did miss Sakho last night.

They are currently forecasting 4 fallers tonight (McAuley, Skrtel, Zarate and O'Shea).

I didnt post on here as there were no risers, I didnt check the fallers.

Ill check FPLStats too, I used to use them but fantasyfootballfix beat them to risers, it looks like FPLstas might have caught up though and beat them to the fallers, were they correct?

Fallers: fplstats got the number of fallers right (4), but they were a different 4 than they had forecast. Those four are still the only ones above 100% for the drop.

Risers: fplstats doesn't forecast the order in which risers will occur, it just gives the percentages of their target. Over 100% indicates that they expect a rise at the next price change, lesser percentages just show how close they are to the target, but not how long they will take to reach it. Some players increase their percentages faster than others.

fplstats currently has 12 players between 80% and 96% of the target for a rise. Costa (91.8%), Chadli (88.9%) and Sterling (84.3%) are the only 3 of these 12 with an ownership greater than 300,000. Does FFF give any forecasts for players with lower ownerships such as Cissokho, Hamer, Senderos, Rose and King?

On FFF, Cissoko is 5th on the list at 74.4% Senderos is 8th with 69.7% and Hamer is way down the list at 35.1%

                        So very different to FPLStat

For ease of typing im going to refer to Fantasy Football Fix as FFF.

FFF have Sterling then Chadli then Costa to rise next, in that order

                      FPLStat have Cissokho, Senderos, Hamer

FFF looks more accurate there surely?

All this talk of stats persuaded me to actually look at some.

I have a theory that Baines is more attacking than normal due to the absense of Coleman, nearly every attack going down Baines wing.. So i thouht i would have a look at the stats to see if they back this up.

Sure enough Baines in gw 234 with coleman playing were much worse than the stats of baines in gw 567 without coleman playing. Coleman due back next week? Could mean less attacking involvement for baines

Naturally those who critisise stats can have a field day with small sample size, different opponents etc. Baines position on the pitch were fairly identical in all six matches, but minutes per chance etc were significantly lower when coleman was about

Personally I don't think it has anything to with Coleman, just more that Baines' form has much improved this season. I'm sure his stats will improve more if he plays with Pienaar too. At the start of the season I thought Coleman was by far the better pick and still think he'll score more goals than Baines but pens and free kicks has to swing it in Baines favour at the mo.

Will do. I'm remember doing it early in the season and seeing Coleman outscore Baines but they seemed to alternate a bit. What I meant by Coleman not effecting Baines is the tactics Everton use. When the full backs bomb on the Dm's replace them and both are allowed to go at the same time. They shouldn't effect each other basically.

I've had a look. It's a fair conclusion to say he's probably been getting more forward due to Coleman's absence then. Perhaps a downturn would be natural. Still think his own form has a lot to do with though.

"Baines' form has much improved" ... how?

I have watched all of Everton's matches, and I think that he is well down on last year. FPl-wise, he has nicked the points, but ...

We've an article coming on this. Having rinsed through it, I would say it's pretty conclusive that he is being more "effective". He's seeing more of the ball for starters, that always helps.

Personally, Im not that worried by Baines himself. Im more concerned about Everton, they haven't looked very good yet at all, and worryingly leaky at the back. Even with a kind set of fixtures this is causing me to think twice before getting Baines in (something I have never hesitated on in the past).

The values shown for the players in your squad on the transfers page are the prices you will get if you sell them.

These are different from the prices you paid for them, and also different from the prices you would have to pay for them if they were not already in your squad.

Why? I have JT, but I'm kicking myself in the nuts for not picking Azpi before gw1. The only doubt I'd have is about his starter status if Jose decides to give Luis a shot. A Chelsea defender is a FPL must-have imo.

Because he is in that uncomfortable slot, price-wise, where he is neither fish nor fowl.

He is not Ivanovic, nor is he, say, Ashley Williams. So while he will get points, you can do better.

They're pretty even but that 0.6 difference between the two makes Dier the better option, imo. Better fixtures too.

Yep. He's hovering up Bonus. I think he's the best Chelsea option in defence apart from Ivan. I thought Terry would be getting his bonus so wish I had him. If I were to wildcard I'd get him, but Terry to Azpi is not my top priority at the moment.

Morning folks.. Gonna start the day off with an RMT.

    Krul
    Baines Terry Clyne
    Sterling Siggy Tadic Adm
    Costa Welbeck Vardy

    Elliott Eriksen Duff Caulker
    1.8 in the bank
    1 FT

    Save transfer right?
Or do something about Caulker(shame Chambers suspended).. Or even swap Eriksen out(9.6 available ie Fabregas). would have been tempted by hazard/sanchez but not gonna take a hit with that team

No point changing Caulker this week I don't think Valar as anyone you bring in is unlikely to oust the 3 defenders your set on playing

lol I had the exact money to do Dier to Baines for free then I came home from work to see he had dropped. So in order to get him I'll sell Pelle & buy Welbeck for a -4. That was the only option that worked. Will make the trades at the last minute so plenty of time. Imo the area to make up ground on the leaders is in defence & both Baines & Ivanovic are a good chance.

    Krul (Elliott)
    Baines, Ivanovic, Clyne (Moore, Hutton)
    ADM, Sterling, Siggy, Downing (Boyd)
    Aguero (c), Costa, Welbeck

    Thoughts appreciated.

I'm getting rid, probably for Welbz to allow a Baines transfer, I'm lucky to have scraped 2 assists out of him. No doubt he'll probably start scoring now.

This international break is already killing me.

I have zero excitement for these pointless England games.

    Ban international football imo.
