Captain Sensible – Gameweek 10

Our weekly analysis of the Captaincy contenders arrives once again this evening. As always, we take a three-part approach which includes the weekly poll standings, the Opta statistics and our Rate My Team projections to help steer your thoughts on the armband conundrum.

The Captain Poll

Under normal circumstances, Diego Costa would be the runaway leader in this week’s Captain Poll but, as we know, things are not quite straightforward when it comes to Jose Mourinho. Nonetheless, having returned to training yesterday, faith in the Chelsea striker is building and he leads the way ahead of a plum home clash with a QPR defence that have shipped at least two goals in all four of their road trips. After scoring in each of his four home appearances, Costa leads the way with 29% of the votes cast so far.

Elsewhere for Chelsea, Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas have earned 9% and 6% of the votes cast. The latter has been the most consistent, with a goal or assist in seven of his nine appearances, though Hazard delivered a double-figure haul in his previous match at the Bridge and has spot-kick duties to fall back on.

Alexis Sanchez sits in second as Arsenal prepare for the visit of Burnley. Subject to huge investment this week after taking his tally to five goals in his last six appearances with a brace against Sunderland, the Chilean has been backed by 20% heading into the weekend. Over 5% have opted for Danny Welbeck, though his form is a little disconcerting – he’s picked up points in only two of his six appearances since arriving in north London.

In third spot, Sergio Aguero remains firmly in our thoughts in spite of a surprise blank against West Ham. Up against a United defence that have picked up just three points on their travels, the Argentine has persuaded over 14% to hand him the armband – although his four-goal haul against Spurs is fresh in the memory, Aguero has stuttered at the Etihad and has scored in only two of his four home matches.

Further down, the likes of Graziano Pelle and Raheem Sterling are still in contention ahead of trips to Hull and Newcastle. Pelle has picked up points in six of his previous seven now and stands atop the Fantasy Premier League standings on 59 points, though the Tigers have tightened up since reverting to a three-man backline and have kept out their opponents in two of their last three. Sterling, with just two assists in the previous four, will be optimistic of returning to form against a Magpies backline with a single shut-out in seven.

    Repost

Really stuck this week, 2FT and 2.4m in the bank.

    (A) Sterling+Cisse > Downing+Costa

    (B) Sterling+Fab > Hazard+Sanchez

    (C) Sort out keeper situation

    Current Team:

    Mannone
    Baines Clyne Rose
    ADM Sterling Fab Siggy
    Aguero Welbeck Cisse

    Subs: McCarthy, Moreno Boyd Hutton

    Any ideas much appreciated

    9 years, 6 months ago

    Courtois

    Clyne Wilson Moreno wisdom Bruce

    Boyd adm fab sterling soggy

    Aguero pelle berinaho

3.1m in the bank and 1 free transfer.

Costa and Sanchez are essential this week I think. People are going to be captaining them as well so think is very risky not having either.Have enough to do those two for adm and pelle who very few will captain with plan of getting one them back in 2 weeks again but seems nuts to get rid of either.

    any recommendations ?

I've been away from the Internet for a couple of days (visiting my lovely grandma!), so would appreciate a general status update, regarding injury news and the look of my team 🙂

    Begovic
    Clyne Baines Chambers
    Tadic Sterling Fabregas Downing
    Pelle Aguero Welbeck
    (Krul / Siggy Wisdom Taylor)

I was considering Siggy>Oscar... Is Oscar likely to play vs QPR after playing 90 in midweek? Is Siggy fit? Any other relevant news?

I would welcome any other advice... 2.1itb, 1FT 🙂 Cheers!

Great defence, reasonable midfield but with potential, nice forward line with potential.

Overall - it has potential, but not a team you'd expect to be choking to death with points.

Hey wise folks of the FFS community,

First time ever, two free transfers and no idea what to do.
Not entirely happy with my attack but don't know how to fix it.

Please find a minute to help a fellow FFS fanatic out:

    Current XI (0.1 itb)

    Forster
    Wilson-Chambers-Moore
    Siggy-Fabregas-Di Maria-Sterling
    Aguero-Costa(c)-Pelle'

Any comments will be greatly appreciated!

looks bang on to me mate. Maybe you could try and get sanchez in somehow with the two ft's, but I don't know who i'd lose out of that lot.

Just got rid of Sterling and Siggy. Only one player left in my team with ownership over 30%.

    Guess who? 😀

No worries. Should I risk Haz captain? Pelle? Welbeck? Fabs? or stick with Kun?

      Who to captain now?

Have it on Kun but tempted by Haz. I think it could be his week

I think Kun is a slightly safer pick

Yeah, if Haz comes in I'll get a big greenie whether I captain him or not

Chose Hazard over Kun last week, because I had that same feeling. Couldn't believe it when he didn't get the pen nor did he score that one on one. It's all a game of luck in the end.

That was very unlucky. Kun did nothing either - but also very unlucky.

Haz and boyd. Decided to pass on Sanchez and wait for Wally instead. Pretty sure Sanchez won't repeat last week and Ars have a tendency to disappoint against weak opposition

Ever been split on a choice between two players?

    A. or B. and you've went A. only for B to explode.

Had this last season in the preparation towards the dgws I went a.Johnson rather than Puncheon only for Jason to score two in the first fixture vs Cardiff and Johnson got consistently subbed off and did shit all.

Then I transferred him out gw38 and AJ scored. What a troll.
