The ScoutCast – Episode 142 – Tight

There was just a wafer-thin point separating myself and Granville in Gameweek 11, despite my rivals decision to ignore the force of nature that is Alexis Sanchez.

In a svelte but packed episode of the ScoutCast, my co-host and I discuss the Chilean’s “essential” charms and pile praise on the reborn Stewart Downing and the new, reliable Leighton Baines v2.

Around the usual regulars, we drop in on some old favourites, as Aleks Kolarov discovers new methods of running Granville’s Gameweek and I somehow manufacture a way of snuggling under the Van Persie duvet. We also carry on nudging the Harry Kane-wagon, run our teams through the Gargatron computer and go on “Warnock Watch” once more.

Squeeze into this episode out via this link or sample its tautness via the player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Rooney was operating in the central mid v City. One of those wait and see situations.

I'm monitoring the penalty situation too. I have a feeling rooney may be on them now as captain (haven't been any this season). If so he may be worthwhile

i doubt it as last yr rooney started with penalty but miss too many and gave it to RVP by himself...

falcao on the other hand might steal them...

Nah not that, I just meant from a 'team' perspective. That just says 100% for man Utd last season (and rooney took most when RVP was injured)

It's just a hunch. Happy to be wrong, but think it may be possible

    Pelle or Kun armband:

    - in form player on an in form team home vs Leicester
    vs.
    - good form player on a struggling, but ultimately classier team vs QPR.

    First one two five wins!

Ok, may be skewed by past seasons achievements. But even if they are struggling, one would assume that they have potential. But Saints are impressive, no doubt about that 🙂

    Repost.

Morning all, would really appreciate your help with this decision.

    Fabregas to:

    A. Tadic
    B. Di Maria

I also have Pelle and Hazard in my team. In a couple of weeks, I'm looking to bring in Bony for Pelle if his form continues and keep Tadic due to his set piece and penalty duties. Going Di Maria means another potential captain option, but tricky to get Costa back in (2 FTs). Bit concerned by Tadic' lack of goal threat but with LEI, avl up next, I quite fancy the double up.

I have both and I want to keep it that way. ADM if you musth chose, but there is the question of price as well. If you get Tadic, what will you use the remaining funds for?

Pelle to Costa, but would prefer Bony tbh for CPL, QPR. So am leaning towards Di Maria.

Cheers Shifty. It's only his 5,2,2 returns that are putting me off but tough fixtures all the same. I can't see Palace offering much resistance. Could be goals in this game for both teams actually.

Interesting, I'd prefer Oscar to Fabregas, I think. Can I ask why? Would you not expect Hazard to score more goals?

          • 10 Years
          9 years, 6 months ago

Expecting something is different, can he score many goals? Except scoring from penalties, he haven't done much tbh... Nor Chelsea is filled with divers, so 1 goal in 3 weeks, dont think thats worth that much investment.

          1. Twisted Saltergater
            • 14 Years

1 goal in 3 is preferable to 2 assists in 3 though? I'm just not understanding the Fabregas > Hazard argument.

              • 11 Years

Hazard is hardly shooting this season. Meanwhile, Cesc is assisting every other goal Chelsea score. Put it this way, Hazard has 1 goal from open play in his last 20 PL matches

And how many goals does Fabregas have?? And why does open play count in FPL?

Given their prices (and I have both), I genuinely can't see your point. If anything, Fabregas' assists will drop as Mourinho makes Chelsea tighter at the back and uses Hazard on the counter attack. We've already seen Costa's stats drop.

No, I don't think so - if he turns out to be this seasons Yaya (for a higher entry fee though) , you'll want him before his value is £11+. I he proves to be a flash in the pan, or at least not worth the high price - easy to downgrade to any other high hitting midfielder. Arsenals trickier fixtures ahead doesn't make it a no-brainer though - but I've brought him in for AdM this week nevertheless (so no I feel scared not owning AdM against CPL 😀 ).

You know, I think they just might. After the midweek performance I thought there's no chance I'm captaining Aguero but I'm coming around to the idea. Plus Pellegrino has to try something different... maybe goes back to the 451 with Lampard starting.

Are you sure you didn't get your arrows mixed up? Having Walcott when he's playing 10 mins per game?

Was on Aguero (C), switched to ADM, seriously thinking of Tadic (C) after reading this:

Makes me feel bad about my Tadic > Downing switch 🙁

Thought it enabled Sterling > Sanchez

Luckily I own Tadic. Have the cash for him to ADM though which is a big tempter.

Yea, he's one of the Sanchezs from Cabo San Lucas, but I've since found out he doesn't take penos for the national side.
I'm firmly on Aguero nos after thinking about it and undecided on the hit I'd take it if I broke even just to be rid of Welbz tbh.
        Final thoughts mate?

Hmm, if you're not putting the armband on him, it muddies the water a little. I'd still do it myself, but mainly because I don't rate welbeck

Alexis form is hard to ignore, but Hazard could deliver on any given week especially V pool,

    lloris

    Baines, Fonte, Ivanovic

    Sterling, Hazard, Tadic, ADM

    Aguero, Costa, Rooney

I am playing another FPL game, and have three transfers this GW.

Plans for this GW is getting rid of lloris, and heaton(my reserve) have a few quite good fixtures coming up.

I also want to chase the Sanchez points, however he is a forward on this game and that makes it hard because i see both costa and aguero as essentials.

Last i think i am goingto move Sterling to Yaya, i've held sterling since the start now and he's just not paying off.

Is it too early for differential captain choices?

Currently ranked 21st in Ultimate FPL and trying to decide between Aguero, Rooney and Di Maria for captain.. Everyone above me seems to have Aguero and Di Maria but only 1 or 2 Rooney.. Good chance to captain Rooney and hopefully gain some ground?

Always have the Sunday players if things go wrong too but a bit worried about Aguero going crazy.

Nice rank. I am going for ADM he racks up all kinds of extra points for chances created etc. Good chance of a 15+ haul against a pretty dire outfit in Palace

My plan is to captain Rooney, but i can still go for Downing or Sakho. But i play with too much heart so it will end on Rooney

Thinking of saving. DDG has a good fixture this time around. Only downside is keeping Sterling and risking not having one of ADM or Sanchez. Thoughts?

    De Gea, Gilks
    Baines, Bertrand, Chambers, Hutton, Wisdom
    Fabregas, Sterling, Sigurdsson, Chadli, Marney
    Costa, Aguero, Pelle

    Still on this!

    Current squad...

    DDG Gilks
    Clyne Chambers Wisdom Colo Chester
    Sanchez Fabregas AdM Downing Marney
    Aguero Costa Sakho

But TAKEN 8 POINT HIT TO GET THIS

if I PLAY MY WILDCARD I can GET MY 8 POINTS BACK and integrate BAINES....

    Foster Myhill
    Baines Chambers Wisdom Dummett Yun
    Sanchez Fabregas AdM Downing Boyd
    Aguero Costa* Sakho

*i could also possibly take Pelle instead of Costa for a week and then switch back

    WORTH MY WC?

    Thanks 🙂
