Only difference is that Austin has been great lately and Sigurdsson has been poor in the last 10 GWs or so.

Siggy plays quite well imo. Just doesn't get the points.

In general play, I would say that Siggy has looked better than Downing for example in the past weeks. Difference is that Downing has been getting the goals and assists.

I spent the week debating two questions. I posted both of these on here:

Who would people rather have for the next 2? A) Silva (CRY/wba) B) Eriksen (BUR/lei)

Swaying from Austin to Eriksen. Who to captain of the two?

Against my instinct, I went for Eriksen on both. 33 point swing. Trust your gut!

Caulker & Baines -> Zabaleta & Azpi for free will give me this team:

    Hart
    Chambers-Azpi-Naylor-Zabaleta
    Hazard-Sanchez-Siggy-Yaya
    Costa-Kane

    sub:Schmeichel.Downing,Austin,Dummett

    Should I pull the trigger???

      guzan
      chambers-baines-hutton
      sanchez-siggy-hazard-yaya
      costa-austin-bony

      subs: mannone, downing, dummet, yun.

      in bank zero.

      two free transfers.

am slightly worried by bony's benching today, siggy's knock, baines' dire form, yun's injury, & mannone being awful,

Re the liverpool hype and the hyperbole surrounding Brendan Rogers' job I think he would have been better off if Arsenal had got Suarez last season. If this had happened he wouldn't be dealing with the ridiculous expectation levels of the Liverpool fans and national media. If everyone takes a step back to before last season they would see that Liverpool were not expected to even make the top 4 after finishing 7th the previous season (with Suarez) behind Utd, city, Chelsea, arsenal, spurs and everton.

One overachieving season later and expectation levels are ridiculous.

        Exactly.

It was never likely to happen that Utd would go to pot after just one bad season.

It's not to say it can't happen over the next few years but those Utd fans who thought that nothing would change with saf retirement were sure proven to be wrong too 😉

Any I know were shitting themselves that once he retired they'd go to shite.
Do any United fans now trust their recent form or are they waiting for it to all go to pot again ?

Most I know reckoned they had the best team in the country and would defo finish top 4 last year and would likely be challenging for the league title.

I don't even think they will be challenging for it this year never mind next year. They have an ageing squad on super high wages and have blown almost 200 over the last two seasons with almost nothing to show for it except a tidy attacking midfield. Their attack needs complete replacement and they have no defence apart from a top gk.

Saf has a lot to answer for imo and while he may have had the gravitas to hold the club together during a major rebuild I'm not sure lvg has.

Rooney 30 next season, Falcao 39 next season, rvp 33 next season! How much will it cost to replace these players? A couple of Crespo/soldado/negredo mistakes in the transfer market and Utd are in serious trouble. And don't give me Wilson tosh until he proves he is any better than n8clas bendtner

Point still stands (and even more so if Falcao has to be replaced next season) that Utd have an aging past their prime fwd line. How much will it cost to replace it bearing in mind suarez cost 70m and bale 100m?

As I said below, 3rd youngest squad in the league.
Stop digging a hole your original point was correct, Liverpools expectations are now that anything less than CL is a failure is silly.

This is ridiculous. You're acting as if Liverpool were a one man team last season. They over achieved but would've made top 4 with out Suarezs goals anyway.

            • 13 Years
            9 years, 4 months ago

He got 30 the previous season and they finished 7th, it was Sturridge and Sterlings form which lead to the improvement last season

Zero chance they'd have got top 4 without suarez last season imo. He has responsible for circa 70% of pools goals either by scoring, assisting, assisting assister or drawing defenders to leave space for others. He was a phenom last season!

        • Fantasy Football Scout Member
        • 14 Years

Because even with suarez they were finishing 7th!

Any fool Liverpool fan who thinks they should be in the top 4 each season when they don't have the squad or first 11 to compete with city, Chelsea, arsenal and Utd is delusional!

    5. GreennRed
      • 12 Years

Expectation levels are ridiculous amongst bandwagon supporters who know feck all anyway. Mid-table was the expectation in 2012/13 and now it reverts to them. He needs to sort out defence and play less football out from the back.Need to realise that being a 'big' club means winning leagues not having a 'big' fanbase.

      1. Dino

I think playing from the back is fine, many teams do it but you need the players to be able to boss possession to make it work. Pool just don't retain the ball for long enough and have no cover for the back 4.

The defenders are not the worst imo but the likes of lovren looked great when he had plenty of cover in the form of Sneiderlin and wanyama in front of him. Maybe Rogers should have forgotten about trying to replace the goals and got some decent def mids to try and concede less?

Ofc they needed a top forward too but rumour has it the committee wouldn't sanction a move for bony saying he wasn't worth 19m.

I'm stumped, Sakho -> Kane & Baines -> Zabaleta good for 2FT? Would give me:

    Guzan,
    Azpi, Naylor, Zabaleta
    Siggy, Haz, Alexis, Yaya
    Kane, Costa, Austin

    -------------------------------------
    McCarthy, Downing, Wisdom, Duff

Thoughts on Tiote to Milner for free?
I have Siggy but amn't too keen on selling him yet. Milner could be a great short-term replacement/ rotation player up until Jan WC. Will he also be rotated do you think?

    Cheers for any replies

Is Yaya and Mirallas out for Silva and Sterling seems like a good idea?

Cutting Yaya isn't ideal but apart from Azpi there isn't much I can pull funds from.

    Guzan, Foster

    Azpi, Naylor, Hutton, Wisdom, Yun

    Sanchez, Hazard, Yaya, Mirallas, Soggy

    Costa, Benteke, AustinAustin

Wait on Siggy news. If ruled out you could swap Sakho to Kane/Cisse and bench Siggy
