PlayON Picks – Gameweek 22

Our Friday lunchtime look at the PlayON Player Price List comes around again as the hours count down until tomorrow’s deadline. As always, we offer a couple of picks per position: one essential weekend target and a left-field alternative for your consideration.

PlayON have now extended their deadline for submitting your teams so you can now tinker with your starting XI right up until the first kick-off each week – tomorrow that’s right up to 3pm, when six of the ten fixtures get underway.

Goalkeepers – Joel Robles
With the injured Tim Howard ruled out for a number of weeks, the Spaniard’s security of starts earns him the nod as our left-field pick this week. Having failed to keep a clean sheet so far, Robles only costs 6.0m in PlayON and he’ll be hoping for a first shut-out at home to a West Brom side that have failed to score in five out of their ten away matches this season. West Ham’s FA Cup hero Adrian (7.0m) has registered all four of this season’s clean sheets in front of his own fans. With visitors Hull deprived of their first-choice strikers, Nikica Jelavic and Abel Hernandez, through injury, The Tigers will struggle to improve a record that has seen them score in only two of their last seven away matches.

Defenders – Kieran Trippier
The Burnley right-back is expected to recover from a minor hamstring problem in time for a home clash with Crystal Palace. Despite earning a single assist this season, Trippier has offered plenty of threat down the flank and has created more chances than any defender over the last four Gameweeks – priced at 6.7m, his delivery from out wide could prove crucial for front two Danny Ings and Ashley Barnes. Investment in Tottenham’s defence looks a canny tactic this weekend, given that visitors Sunderland have failed to score in seven of their ten away matches. We opt for the in-form Danny Rose against the Black Cats, then – the left-back has now scored in each of his last two home appearances across all competitions and looks a great value pick at only 6.8m.

Midfielders – Victor Moses
Prior to being sidelined with a thigh injury in mid-November, Stoke’s on-loan winger served up a goal and four assists in eight appearances. Moses was an unused sub at Arsenal last Sunday but with a week’s training behind him, Mark Hughes has been full of praise ahead of the trip to Leicester. Setting you back just 7.6m in this week’s PlayON Price List, Moses’ delivery from the flank looks a likely weapon for the King Power clash – the Foxes defence is rated second worst in terms of aerial attempts against, suggesting he’ll be tasked with feeding Peter Crouch with crosses aplenty. We turn to Spurs once again for our essential midfield pick. Since returning from injury in Gameweek 17, Nacer Chadli has played a part in six of his side’s ten goals, whereas team-mate Christian Eriksen has had a hand in just one. The Belgian seems better value at 9.3m compared to Eriksen’s 11.1m for the visit of Sunderland, then, as the north London club look to continue the form that has seen them score nine times in their last two home matches.

Forwards – Andy Carroll
An impressive strike against Swansea last week was Carroll’s fourth in 11 appearances since returning from injury in early November. With Diafra Sakho still unavailable, the big target is set to carry the Hammers’ main goal threat at home to a Hull side with just one clean sheet in six and, at a price of just 9.8m, looks good value as Big Sam’s side look for their first win in five matches. After weeks on the sidelines with a knee injury, Sergio Aguero (14.8m) returned to action against Everton last week. Whilst his match sharpness may not be fully up to scratch, the Argentine still looks poised to be unleashed from the start at home to Arsenal on Sunday and has the class to destroy a defence that has conceded eight in their last four road trips.

    A. Terry, Bertrand, Fabregas, Aguero, Austin
    B. Azpi, southampton def, Siggy, Aguero, Costa

Consider someone else besides Siggy. Punch, Chadli, Moses all have great games coming up. Them plus Costa could be better than Fab and Austin.

Well, he has played a grand total of 350 minutes, most through injury.

So whatever they think, he has made little or no impact on Wenger.

To those that live in the UK, i am new to london and although i have managed to get to old trafford twice to watch united play 🙂 i am looking to get tickets for the away game tomz at qpr since its in london.

I was unfortunately conned once to get tickets from craig's list 🙁 , any other reliable websites? did some researching on the net and seems like viagogo/stubhub seem safe as they seem to provide some level of guarantee although the prices seem very high.

viagogo has tickets for tomorrow's game at loftus road for 100 quid but its in the home section and ideally i wanted in the away section...thoughts?

any website you would recommend for future purposes?

Your best bet is to try some Manchester United forums and see if any proper supporters have spare tickets they no longer need.

It'll be hard to get tickets in the away end otherwise, and you'll be spending well over the normal rate if you get them via a tout

i know it sounds daft, but your best bet is head down there and ask united fans - often they have spare tickets and that's how i watch them down in London since i left Salford.

Normally get them at face value as well as they're spares

hmmm not a bad shout, but away tickets would be held by season ticket holders who live around the manchester area so if they are in london, surely they would be using the tickets?

sorry mate, i'll try and explain again.

United away fans travel down to a game, if one of their pals can't make it, whiteness often the case, work, hungover, wife etc.....then they take the ticket down anyway to sell. done this loads....

worse case scenario....you buy one for the home end and keep your mouth closed haha

haha makes sense. I will def try my luck:)

what should be the average (slightly above average is also fine) price that i should be looking to pay? dont wanna get conned again.

for the trafford games i went to, i paid about 70 quid.

so upto like 120 if i find away tickets or 70 for the qpr section?

worse case scenario, you sit in the United boozer which they will have overtaken and have a mega time....but you should be alright getting a ticket.

70/80 quid should be about right, they tend not to rip folk off and just wanna get some money back for spare tickets....if they have spares, try 50 quid first and see what happens.

For the apr end 70/80 again should do it

              Good luck bro!

I've picked him on my WC this week, will give hime two gameweeks to show what he's good for.. on the one hand LvG has a special talent to screw up tactics, and even though United have great attacking players they are all slow and predictable except Di Maria.. BUT he was on freaking team of the year (deserved or not) and are not playing qpr, LEI..

good ! 9/10 maybe 8.5. I think Costa will get a load of goals second half, he always does !

Don't like Duff or Lucas, other than that it's great. Maybe Baines --> Clyne/Berty/Fonte and slightly upgrade Duff and Lucas?

Totally agree with Jaril. Do as he said and then it would be a 9/10 😉

Would you downgrade Bertrand > Fonte (on WC) which will enable me next GW to do Downing > Chadli?

Lucas for Boyd as 4.3m is my max, he's getting good game time at least.

Any help fishing this off? It's causing me a headache:

    Panti Hamer
    Terry Wisdom Baird PVA X
    ADM Hazard Sanchez JWP X
    Kun Costa Kane

    a) Wasil & Chadli
    b) Clyne & Boyd

A gives a weak defence and strong mid. B gives me a good defence but means playing one of JWP or Boyd most weeks - although they actually rotate very well. I do have a second WC so can rectify JWP if he's dropped after AFCON.

    WC Team

    Pantil - Krul
    Terry - Bertrand - PVA - Wisdom - Wasil
Hazard - Silva - Sanchez - Di Maria - Boyd
    Aguero - Kane - Austin.

    Thoughts please : )

They'll be starting Baker and Okore so I can see Liverpool putting a couple in. I hope you don't go for him and Sterling's 15 pointer lets me leapfrog you :p. We have quite similar teams
