The ScoutCast – Episode 150 – Costly

Granville and I raise out bats to the grandstand as the 150 comes up for the ScoutCast. Fittingly, we choose to spend the milestone episode moaning about Diego Costa, for very different reasons.

Chelsea’s “agro magnet” dominates discussion on the eve of an expected three-match ban that will end my love affair with the grizzled goal-getter. Meanwhile, Granville is left smarting from Costa’s 16-point Gameweek 22 haul as he does his best to make light of the 59-point chasm that now separates our teams.

Elsewhere, we glide through the ScoutCast regulars, whilst taking time out to lament Kevin Mirallas and his latest bout of Baines-bullying that robbed us both of belated returns.

Count the cost via this link, or pay your dues via the handy player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Sanchez not scoring that many points when Giroud returned and looked tired -> Sold Sanchez, bought Giroud -> Giroud red freaking card -> Sanchez scoring 19 points in a match -> WC to get Sanchez back -> Sanchez blanks, Giroud scores -> Sanchez hamstring injury.

=> buys bottle of vodka => makes fool of himself => looses his job => more vodka => wife leaves => more vodka for a month => desperate to 'score' and show to his ex that yep, I have options => no you don't => no money, no job, no wife, fantasy football is cruel game sometimes.

Three I can't decide on, any help would be greatly appreciated:

    Giroud or Falcao?

    ADM or Wally?

Walters or Moses? (leave the why either of them for now, if they're the answer I'm not sure I'm asking the right question!)

Too risky Sanchez v unlikely to play. 25% is an over estimation. ADM (c) then pick a good differential for vice

Starting to doubt Walcott over Cazorla, worried about Walcott having limited game time, and Cazorla being on set pieces. Can anyone convince me either way?

well i think Walcott is at least good for 70 mins, considering that he played 70 mins last week and has another weeks training under his belt. He can do damage in that time

Ozil was played wide even at the start of the season, don't think Wenger will shift Cazorla from centre while his form is so strong.

Walcott's finishing still looks rusty, cup goal notwithstanding - I'm waiting on more evidence before jumping on board.

So I'd probably say Cazorla safest for next few weeks and look to shift to Walcott once he starts producing. Though I went for Giroud to save myself the headache 😉

Someone posted a really good article a couple weeks ago about taking a gamble on a captain when the armband is likely to be spread as the risk is lower if it doesn't work out.

With that in mind > ADM (C)

Well in a way everyone is a gamble this week (in the sense people tend to use the term on here anyway)

None of the usual suspects are attractive - Costa (probable blank), Aguero (che), Hazard (MCI), Sanchez (probable blank)...

Basically we're left with the likes of Giroud, Walcott, Cazorla, di Maria, Falcao, etc.

He does and to be fair Stoke have kept 3 clean sheets in their last 5 games so he's a good choice. I'm just prejudiced having owned Begovic for his season's grand total of 2 clean sheets prior to that run.

Wildcard team if I had to confirm it right now:

    Pantilimon, Mannone
Terry, Fonte, Bellerin, van Aanholt, Baird
Sanchez, Hazard, Di Maria, Sterling, Moses
    Aguero, Giroud, Kane

Too risky in defence with Bellerin and Baird both under some threat of rotation?

Surely Mannone's too expensive for a non-playing GK? I'd either go 4.0 or 4.4 for Krul who rotates perfectly?

Don't think Bellerin/Baird is risky with Terry, Fonte and van Aanholt personally.

Yeah, hopefully I can handle the possible rotation most weeks - GW27 could be a pain as Zan points out above but maybe I shouldn't stress too much about a single gameweek.

I was going Mannone to protect against potential dropping/injury of Pantilimon but if I were to change it he'd become a 4.0 to give me the extra cash to play with.

        Thanks for the input 🙂
