Injuries

The Treatment Table – Gameweek 23

Our post-Gameweek look at the new injuries sustained over the weekend brings worrying news for Sam Allardyce as a trio of Hammers players limped off at Liverpool. Brendan Rodgers eases fears over his captain’s weekend absence, though Stoke have concerns over Ryan Shawcross once again.

Chelsea
Willian was replaced on 79 minutes of last night’s draw with City at Stamford Bridge after picking up an injury, according to the club’s official website.

Crystal Palace
In his first appearance since Gameweek 16, Marouane Chamakh lasted just 24 minutes before being forced off in Palace’s home loss to Everton with a suspected broken nose. Alan Pardew remains optimistic that the Moroccan will be back in time for next week’s trip to the King Power Stadium:

”The loss of Cham was crucial today, his guile and experience around the box would have been important. He’s got a broken nose we fear, so fingers crossed he doesn’t get my cold. He wasn’t concussed, but it was a heavy blow to the nose. But I think he’ll be okay for Leicester.”

Liverpool
Brendan Rodgers allayed fears over Steven Gerrard’s absence from yesterday’s win overWest Ham, with the Reds skipper expected to return for the midweek FA Cup replay against Bolton:

“It was just precautionary, really. After the game the other night, his hamstring was tight. We’ve got a lot of games over the coming months, so we didn’t want to risk it when we have other players that are fresh.”

Southampton
Lloyd Isgrove was a late withdrawal from the Saints squad that lost to Swansea today, meaning Ronald Koeman could only name six subs in the 1-0 defeat.

Stoke
The Potters skipper Ryan Shawcross lasted just 41 minutes of the 3-1 win over QPR before being forced off through injury.

Sunderland
Wes Brown missed the Black Cats’ 2-0 win over Burnley on Saturday after failing to prove his fitness upon returning to training, confirmed Black Cats boss Gus Poyet:

“Wes trained for a couple of days and it is nothing serious, so it is just about making sure he is 100% so that when we throw him in he is ready because I can tell you that it is very hard. It is great for us because we now have a big squad and I can refresh the team if I need to, but of course the ones that performed at 3pm against Burnley will have a better chance next week.”

Swansea
Marvin Emnes lasted just 15 minutes of this afternoon’s trip to Southampton before being withdrawn due to injury. Garry Monk has further worries on the flank after Emnes’ replacement Mo Barrow was stretchered off towards the end of the 1-0 win. Leon Britton missed today’s clash due to illness, according to the club’s official website.

West Ham
Sam Allardyce is counting the cost of yesterday’s loss to Liverpool after a trio of players were forced off through injury at Anfield. The Hammers boss saw centre-halves James Collins and Winston Reid both limp off with hamstring injuries, whilst Andy Carroll picked up a knew problem in the 2-0 defeat. Post-match, Allardyce rolled out an update:

Those three coming off has thrown us into a major crisis at the minute injury-wise and you can’t expect to come to a place like Liverpool and win when those things go against you. In all fairness to Ginge, because of the injuries we had in defence [in the build-up] he tried to come in and get through this game himself, but his hamstring injury had obviously re-occurred by half-time.

Allardyce also confirmed that midfielder Cheick Kouyate missed out after returning from international duties with Senegal nursing a back injury.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

89 FPL points in his last 11 games and 46 in his last 5. But Cazorla is still below his initial price. Amazing really.

But you have to understand, it was a time where Arsenal's had a lot of penalties given and it just happened that Arteta was out. Still a good shout Cazorla, but not a better one than Sanchez.

I make it 87 in his last 11.

Probably went under the radar because he only got 22 points from his first 11 games, and still had only 78 from his first 20 - as well as being overshadowed by Sanchez and the popularity of Giroud.

I got him for GW23, but I wish I had spotted the trend sooner and brought him in instead of Silva when I played my wildcard in GW22.

I had seen him in a number of RMTs, but it was only after I saw Wenger's comment about his success since being moved to a more central position in GW13 that I realised what a good prospect he was!

But I think the cat's out of the bag now, following his two double-digit scores in the last two weeks.

Got so many 'either-or' type decisions wrong on WC.

Walters or Moses - Went with the more risky Moses (-18)
Kosc or Bellerin - Went with the more safe Kosc (-6)
Walcott or Santi - Went with more risky Walcott (-9)

Hindsight is a fine thing but I genuinely wrestled with those 3 decisions last week on numerous occasions and could have scored 114 had I went the other way. Hard to stomach.

But you were not going to transfer them out in immediacy, so the guys you have may still outscore the guys you didn't get over the period for which you will have them. Jerky knees won't get you anywhere.

      I went Moses 2
      I skipped Ars defence
I went with both Santi and Wally.

The Walters really hurt man, but Moses had way off better stats.
I also sold Kane and benched PVA. But that is it, you can't win them all. Lets think positive and concentrate on next GW 😉

      Good luck

    HELLO!

    Pantilimon Krul
    Azpi Clichy Berelin Haidara Wollscheid
    Hazard Sanchez Carzola Sterling Silva
    Costa Austin Kane

    WC active with 0.1 ITB

Plan to take Azpi out during the DGW so I will bench Hazard, Kane and Austin with Haidara and Wollscheid having good fixtures. Will take Azpi and Erikson for the DGW.

What do you guys think? 🙂

    A) Bertrand + Downing ---> Bellerin + Cazorla (Already have Sanchez)

    B) Bertrand + Austin ---> Bellerin + Giroud

Feeling B is the better move considering GW27 blanks. But Downings fixtures really are bad!

Is it worth loosing Austin and doing:
Austin and downing out - berahino and cazorla in?

or giroud and a midfielder I can get for 5.6m, considering I already have fabregas, sanchez and hazard in the mid

Giroud & a cheap midfielder. But most would say Caz & Berahino.

This week was insane... I'm not sure I've ever had a game week where I've got 70 points and dropped in the rankings!

It was all going so well until those last 3 Arsenal goals and Bertrand's madness 🙁

I think Sanchez should be back for Tottenham. His situation against Villa wasn't a classical ''out'', he was a doubt and Wenger decided not to risk him.

Hazard looks way more dangerous, but it's always a gamble in choosing between 2 players. Hazard should still come better by the end of the season.

What impact, if any, do you think Bony will have on Aguero? Will they both play together like Dzeko and Aguero partnership in the past?
