Prank call to Tony Pulis, by a guy pretending to be Neil Lennon, asking to loan McAuley 😆
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OsGpQkVzJUg

Pulis tells him to get McCarthy from Palace instead, who he said was "f**king brilliant" for him last season 🙂

Paddy McCarthy? Bloke didn't even start a single game in the PL last season, perhaps Pulis knew...

Morning DZ. After a red Jan last nights 64 was a gods send especially when my main rival went from overall rank off about 10k to 40k over night with a score of 16.

    Pray for him.

Sorry for the repost, any advice would be highly appreciated 🙂

Guys am in a bit of a rot right now and seeing big red arrows

Gotta address Gayle but will need a hit coz zero itb.

    Panti/Krul
    Terry/Clyne/Jones*/Wisdom*/PVA
    Haz/Sanchez*/Cazorla/Silva/Boyd
    Gayle*/Defoe/Kun*

    1 FT, 0.0 ITB

3 yellow flags and Wisdom/Gayle not playing so not looking good

    Thinking of
    A] Gayle & Jones --> N'Doye & Wollscheid or Naughton for -4
    or even
    B] Gayle & Jones & Wisdom --> N'Doye & Lescott & Naughton for -8
    C] any other?

Problem is if i only take care of Wisdom and Gayle then i can only afford a 4.0 DEF so that option doesn't work

Kane i will then get for DGW, does not make sense to get him now (i know, should have had him looong time ago)

    Thanks guys

I'd wait and see before the weekend. Good chance Kun or/and Alexis will be confirmed before the deadline.

I'd probably double up on CHE before the DGW with Zouma and downgrade Jones to a real cheapie.

thanks for feedback bru, Alexis and Kun are not my main concerns but have to address the likes of Wisdom, Jones and Gayle. If Alexis and Kun are out then i have a real problem...

I like the Zouma pick, thanks for that 🙂

Stats vs outcome mate. A goal is always a tall Peter Crouch looping header away...

Just like Caz has great goals/assists but his stats for Spurs and Leicester are the reason he has to be rid soon (playing deeper, fewer chance creation etc.).

Pretty nailed. Started last few game even with Dummet fit. NEW does not have a lot of options at the back. Janmaat is great cos he has constant attacking returns, especially when you lose a CS.

similar rpblem since I got Jones and Wisdom too.

I think we have to monitor Jones' injury first. I wouldn't take -8 this week. Not when most people are going to keep their FT (I really think so). N'Doye can wait, imo.

Debatable whether Oscar has been rested or dropped, he's had some inconsistent performances recently, just like Courtois. Both didn't play yesterday, maybe Mourinho hinting to his players that he has choices and they need to up their game

Mourinho "Oscar has a minor muscular problem. If we played him today, it is possible we would lose him for a few weeks" #CFC

Clichy wasn't even in the squad, but no news on any injury...so may have just been rested...

Looking ahead this weeks captains choice is going to be very difficult

    Kane- Got be a favourite
Aguero- (injury aside) home and penalties and back scoring
Hazard- home, pens, playing a leaky team
Costa- why not if you have him
    Defoe- for the punt
    Arsenal assets away- probably not

Any early thoughts, im about 50% Aguero. 30% Kane, 20% Hazard

Tempted with Kane. Crazy form. Would be my first time, though.

Aguero is back scoring but then it looks like the lesser teams know how to play at City this season.

Capping a ~6m player always ends in tears. Like Austin for those sweet home games during christmas, and the last time Kane was being mentioned as a captain choice - at home to Sunderland.

I captained Austin before and succeed. High risk, high reward sometimes.

Form should be the right measure, not price tag. If Kane is 11.0m, would you captain him?

              • 10 Years

Well I did twice and he blanked in each one.

There's reasons to why Kane isn't 11.0m. Obviously his price is way too low, but he won't be above 9.0m next season either for example. I just can't bring myself to trust him as my captain, rather go Agüero or Hazard. Although Kane's form can't be argued with.

I think also the price tag of Aguero and Costa reflects the team and the quality of players they play with/ create chances for them. I agree, whatever Kane does this year he wont be above 8-9 m next

Exactly. Agüero and Costa are the top scorers on the most freescoring and in general best teams in the Prem, thus making them the ideal captain options. Hence the price tag, as you mention.

Lukaku was priced at 9m after getting 15 goals and 9 assists last season (in 2600 mins).

Kane currently has 13 goals and 6 assists in 1400 mins, I'd say he's certain (barring injury) to eclipse Lukaku's goal and assist tally from last year. I'd say Tottenham are a better team than Everton, too.

Kane's current points per 90 minutes is 7.9. That's insane.

It's very unlikely that he'll sustain that but a price of 10m+ would not surprise me at all if he has a good end to the season.

                      Maybe.
Bony could end up being the inverse
He starts this season at 8.5 with great goal scoring record.
Say he gets medium amount of points til the end of the season, even at a lower rate than he did for Swansea. His price will prob be around 9.5/10m next year just for the Man city factor
( he could also go mental and fully justify it!)

Lukaku is a great example to prove our point, as he was around the 6m-mark the season he was on loan at WBA, where delievered 17 goals and 7 assists in 2000 minutes. When he was a Chelsea-player at the time of FPL-launch before 2013/14 he was priced at 8.5m.

He didn't deliever as good the following season, but he couldn't become cheaper given his history, so he stayed in the 8.0-9.0m-area.

Great read, I liked the part about the emotional captaincy and is part of the reason why Costa gave me a sour taste in my mouth a few weeks ago.

We all suffer from it. I would never pick Debuchy after he cost me -4 when i was 30th in the worls with only a few weeks to go, two seasons ago. I know its wrong, but difficult to overcome such matters

Good article and sound thinking. All that said it would take at least something like triple gameweek for me to ever get Benteke or Lukaku in ever again!

Exactly, this game can be very emotional in that sense and wow, that must've been the worst.

I asked a question the other day pertaining to past form and it's correlation to future results, it seems many popular players fall into that historical trap. It's like they have a certain tagline and relationship with their owner, very curious.

Nice article. I do thing many move towards popular captains/picks even if they dont want to which I guess is not right.
P.s. Do I need to sign-up or something to vote for captaincy polls? Can always see polls but VOTE button is missing. 🙂

Chelsea will miss Ivanovic, I don't rate Luis at all. Anybody getting Zouma in for the DGW or are you doubling up in attack?

I have Terry, Haz, Austin and Kane at the moment, how are you going about fielding a full team the week before?

    1. Billy Gilmore
      • 11 Years
      9 years, 3 months ago

Why do you still have Austin?

We don't even know when the Chelsea DGW will be...

Benching Ivanovic, Hazard and Kane and letting my bench play it out. Decent fixture for Boyd, and will be looking to bring in Haidara for one of my defensive cheapies.

If I were you I would obviously ditch Austin for someone with a decent GW27 fixture.

          No idea.

Could be worth keeping him for this week if he's not out, but he still won't have a game come the following week. And his form really isn't great.

I am thinking the DGW the following week. Could be worth a gamble as both QPR games are at home where he is prolific.

It has crossed my mind, but it would depend on whether Chelsea (Costa) have a dgw or not. And even if they don't, it might be just as effective to go with Costa and a Spurs defender rather than gambling on Austin to rediscover form.
