Team Analysis – Assessing Pardew’s Palace

The weekend cup defeat by in-form Liverpool may have paused Palace’s recent momentum but the narrow 2-1 reverse means Alan Pardew can now concentrate solely on Premier League matters. After producing three wins and a draw in five top-flight matches since their new manager rolled up to Selhurst Park last month, the Eagles now sit five points clear of the drop zone with 13 rounds of fixtures remaining.

Bearing in mind that Palace managed just three wins in their first 20 league outings prior to Pardew’s installation, it’s fair to say their form is very much on the up. With that in mind, we turn to the latest addition to our members section – the Team Profiles and Comparison Tool – to assess the impact of the former Newcastle boss as he looks to replicate Tony Pulis’ 2013/14 heroics and steer Palace to safety. These tools allow us to pinpoint any areas of improvement and/or issues of concern, in addition to highlighting the players who have benefitted most of all.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

It's a shocking question, but real...

What will LVG do about the Falcao/Fellaini situation now ?...My feeling is he will continue to use Fell later in games and enjoy claiming credit for bring a genius tactician...when in fact picking Falcao and RVP to start matches shows that he's a nob...Or will he start Fell up front ?

I love how he's relying on a Moyes signing to save him. After all the money he spent on overpriced dross (bar Herrera) he needs the gorgeous Belgian to save him

I know...Fell does a really good job further up the pitch, the only surprise is that it has taken so long for United to do it...Having said that it's hoof ball and well short of CL standard or rather the style of CL football....

What united need is a spine too many flair players and attackers. Need a solid CB partnership and a solid CM and get rid of the underperformers.

Alan Shearer called it right. At Blackburn the early ball in the box with Shearer willing to wrestle his own granny to the floor to get the ball worked fantasticaly well. I listened to the old Blackburn full back (Wright) on the radio describing how Shearer used to go ballistic if they started fannying about instead of playing the early ball. It works..but you need the likes of Costa and Rooney up front who are physically hell bent on being first to the ball.

Rooney should be up front, not Falcao or Fellaini.

I bet Fell and Rooney would do a good job if they played week in week out up front...They'd easily outscore those other two.

Fellaini would make as good a forward as you would a manager.

Ha...When have either of Fell or Rooney let a manager down when playing up front ?...It wouldn't be pretty but it'd get some goals for certain. Fell did a great job for Everton when pushed up in the hole...

The one thing we know about LVG is he likes to chop and change his formations and players a lot and mid game. He's having success and moving towards the goals set pre season, so we can't say he's dumb.

Fellaini probably remains plan B, persisting with the big guns till they come good

Good morning all, can somebody please clear up the DGW for me??
Its the sort of thing that good planning can close a gap on rivals..

I see from the ticker that TOT and QPR have the DGW which is fine..
What is the deal with CHE and who would they face if they have one??

Currently only have Kane and Hazard from potential DGW teams so will try to change that up with my 2 FT's..

They will probably play Besic, McCarthy AND Barry, which is worrying when tripled up on Arsenal attack. 😉
